— Open Blog Anyone seen this commercial, yet?
His confident smile and his kind eyes are an inspiration to us all (?!)
It's enough to make Kim Jong Il blush.
Is it just me? I find the fact that there is actually a market for all of these Obama items, which include Obama Xmas ornaments, Obama bibs, Obama perfume, Obama wall clocks, Obama O-Force One model airplane etc., to be a bit creepy. The Obamania has extended to beyond the silly season.
Crossposted at Nice Deb where I've been trying to keep track of all of the Obama cult products.

I'm so sick of this shit. All the fucker has done his get elected. And he couldn't even do that on his own. All this Obama worship crap is a movement to marginalize and delegitimize his opposition. To try to lock in the weak minded and uneducated. "See Obama is cool! He's a winner"
What I'm really pissed about is its suddenly cool to be an American and patriotic again. Like it wasn't before Nov 4th.
I'm so disgusted. But what I really want to do is crush the media. Because this is really their fault. Its the fourth estates professed job to bring the issues before the American people. Not run interference for the prefferred candidate. I know the media is made up the laziest elements of our society not on welfare, but this is enough. Hell crackwhores have more pride than these blumkin givers.

Heh - my wife had tons of those things, carefully preserved in plastic bags in plastic tubs in the garage. I finally talked her into letting me get rid of them - we sent them to Iraq for soldiers to give away to Iraqi kids. The Iraqi kids will probably wipe their asses with the Beanie Babies but at least they're out of my house.

Photos are one thing.
Did FDR and JFK have their own perfumes? Christmas ornaments, baby bibs, cd's with music dedicated to them, xmas ornaments, wall clocks, children's books written about them before they were even elected....I could go on and on.

I am no fan of Obama and did not vote for him. But commemorative plates, coins and celebratory sets of everything from steak knives to lawn gnomes follow every Presidential election.
I personally own no such baubles but a collector friend of mine has inaugural plates of the Obama type being discussed for Ronaldus Magnus and both Bush's. My friend also has Clinton plates from 1993 and 1997, but holds them in lesser regard.
There will be plenty to complain about the Obama Nation that is fast approaching, but the cheesy merchandising of his likeness is neither unexpected nor altogether undeserved. Creepy but not a hangable offense.
I think for sure we wont see the hero worship stop at coins or blow-up dolls, but give the dude his plates. Within 1 year, we'll see all kinds of stories telling us of polling showing Obama to be the single most popular person in the world, more recognized and beloved than the Pope.
This will be reinforced throughout and across the media and it will become socially unacceptable to publicly dislike or criticize his Obamic Majesty. Schoolkids will be especially vulnerable, as unionized liberal teachers will make sure that their students understand the greatness of The Obama.

Then there are the video sales (by CBS?) that have somehow melted into the movie channels and other non-network and non-news channels I now watch instead of network and/or news.
I believe the commercial this thread talks about also says, "The day the world changed!" I saw it while I was cooking dinner, heard that, and almost puked into the potatoes I was mashing.
The good news is all this stuff is falling flat with a lot of us. Looks just silly to a lot of us.

And to date, one school changing its name to Obama Elementary, and another school planning to. The first school hopes to have the name change complete by December. (At a cost of 3000 for the sign and stationery.)
Since when were schools named for presidents BEFORE THEY EVEN BECAME PRESIDENT? Or even president-elect, to get technical about it.
This whole thing is absurd, and unprecedented. The good news: He's oversaturated, even before he takes office. Not only with these cult items and behavior, but also through his own efforts, like the "Office of the President Elect" speeches.
I think even his followers just might get a little sick of his self-love. You know, the old, "We made you and we can take you down" thing.

I have a friend of a certain age. If we have to judge by the way she talks about Obama, I think there is a market for a clip-on picture of Obama that will fit a vibrator.

By the way, this cult stuff isn't just a BIT creepy, it's humongous creepy; and it's been going on for some time now. I was pretty creeped out by it months before the election.
---
It is very creepy and we've seen it before-though only on old German film reels. No doubt he will change the Constitution to keep himself pres. for life and any other thing he wants to take the law unto himself. And who would stop him? The Democrats that are having orgasms being so close to a Supermajority? Or maybe the cult followers that think he is God?
It's getting surreal how almost identical the situation is. He stole everyone elses ideas, looks like he went back 70 years to steal Dear Leader as well
