— Ace There's a lot of bad sex in Hollywood. Only 0.1% gets filmed, though.
An infamous swimming pool-based clinch from the much-criticised 1995 film "Showgirls" received the dubious honour of being named the worst sex scene in the history of cinema.Paul Verhoeven's film, starring Elizabeth Berkley and Kyle MacLachlan, was critically mauled on its release, to the extent that it is now viewed by some as a cult classic.

Other titles in the top 10 include Madonna's 1993 potboiler "Body of Evidence", where she drips hot candle wax on Willem Dafoe, and part of recent Ben Affleck-Jennifer Lopez flop "Gigli".
"Unfeasibly bad, the pair, while sexy as hell on their own, together here couldn't generate enough heat to toast bread," the magazine complains.
Eh. Affleck and Lopez were just fine in that scene. It was Affleck's toupee that really phone in its performance.
I'm not quite sure how they missed Deliverance. Definitely not hot.
Well, a tiny bit hot, okay.
All right, very, very, very hot. Ever since that scene I get a "funny feeling" when watching the Superman movies. OOOO-tis!

Finally rented it. Frankly, the disparity in attractiveness levels of its participants created a torsion effect that almost blew out my TV screen.
Hottest? Always liked that scene in Ramblin Rose where Laura Dern lets much younger Lucas Haas feel away. Really played into my youth's babysitter fantasies.

"Devil in the Flesh" (or "Il Diavolo in corpo"). Saw it in Toronto when it came out in 1986. The lovely Maruschka Detmers performed the duties. The main characters were nutty and behaved arbitrarily, which, in my book, makes everything else they do less compelling. Detmers makes up for it in other ways in the movie, though.

Excellent movie, though. But if you see it, be prepared for scenes that make sexually "daring" American movies look as wholesome as an Amy Grant video.

Hey Ace, turn that frown upside down: ask the readers what they consider to be THE BEST movie sex scenes. Mainstream flicks only, of course-- nothing from Bang The Bum Slowly, Yank My Doodle-- It's A Dandy, or Queer & Pleasant Stranger.

Sex scenes are easy. Just have some pretty people get naked and hug a lot. Engaging passion between actors who are clothed is far harder. One of the things that really impressed me about 'Farscape' was that Ben Browder and Claudia Black were extremely convincing as an intensely impassioned couple without any real life involvement. It was all the more fitting that one episode had a subplot revolving around the way such couples can be annoying to those around them.

Oddly enough, both the participants are quite hot (an ephebic Christian Slater and some sultry wopette), and yet the scene is awkward and creepy.
Not that that prevents it from being ... "fodder." All is grist for the mill. The sex mill.
