— DrewM Let's play a little game...which candidate on a national political ticket hasn't held a press conference in over a month? If you guessed Sarah Palin you are either an Obamabot or second tier Kos Diarist Andrew Sullivan.
The correct answer is...Joe Biden.
In the past two days alone, Palin has answered questions from her national press corps on three separate occasions. On Saturday, she held another plane availability, and on Sunday, she offered an impromptu press conference on the tarmac upon landing in Colorado Springs. A few minutes later, she answered even more questions from reporters during an off-the-record stop at a local ice cream shop.By contrast, Biden hasnt held a press conference in more than a month, and Obama hasnt taken questions from his full traveling press corps since the end of September. John McCainwho spent most of the primary season holding what seemed like one, never-ending media availabilityhasnt done one since Sept. 23.
Gee, why would the Democratic ticket be hiding from their own PR department? Is it because when there aren't teleprompters or editors around the buffoons tend to say things like "spread the wealth around" and "It will not be six months before the world tests Barack Obama"?
How can entrust the country too people too scared to face their most ardent supporters? It's like being afraid of your own shadow.
BTW- I know the response from the likes of Sullivan, 'we know Biden, he's done a billion press conferences, we don't know Palin'. My response...tough. She isn't running for Vice President of the Correspondents Association. If the American people don't like or trust her, they can hold that against McCain. If they do, it might help him.
And yes, we know Biden and his canned Senator for Life answers but if press questions are the measure of a candidate and not their campaign, how much do we really know about Barack "I just answered like 8 questions" Obama?

Particularly why hide Biden when he's the fountain of experience and wisdom from which Obama refreshes himself?
Oh yeah, Biden's been ousted by Powell.
Biden's licking his wounds. It isn't just Obama who wants Biden muzzled.

I think the Joe the Plumber incident really shook them up. It was a crack in the media embargo that let the world see the real candidate. They are hoping to coast in from here.
In the case of Biden, well, they know he's an idiot, so they have tyo keep him away from the media.

Holy fuck, Battleground has McCain within one today!
I'm not a big subscriber to polls, but this helps a whole lot with discrediting the inevitability memo. Geraghty's Obi Wan Kinobi piece at NRO for more details.

Last night I walked in the living room and (I think) ABC evening news was on - we don't normally watch it, but I think my wife was watching a soap or something and just never changed the channel.
They were "comparing" Obama and McCain tax plans, accompanied by cartoon graphics for the morons.
The explanation of the Obama plan showed a drawing of a happy smiling family with children, standing in front of a house, with money showering down from the sky on them.
The explanation of the McCain plan had the most blatant parody of a 19th-century robber-baron millionare you can imagine - fat, with a top hat and frock coat, monocle, and cigar sticking out of his mouth, smiling as he's handed a wad of cash (presumably by McCain personally).
Whenever I think they can't get any more blatant, they do.

The Dear Leader and Vice-Great Leader have too much work to do producing rainbows, unicorns, lowering the ocean level and creating social harmony for the world to be bothered with speaking to their minions in the press, no matter how loyal they are.
Questioning this policy is racist, of course, but in a few short months a new, enlighted administration will be able to direct you away from distracting sites like this one, or at least track your web browsing to know if you've been visiting, and take the appropriate corrective actions.

Oh yeah, Powell...well now, the sqwat to piss general has spoken, hasn't he. Here's my take on pussy foot Powell. If he hadn't got his panties all in a wod in the first Gulf War, maybe, just maybe, we wouldn't be fighting there today. Maybe we wouldn't be loosing America's sons and daughters over there now. Maybe we wouldn't be spending billions over there now. If he hadn't pushed to end the first Gulf War without taking out Saddam - he was afraid our routing of the Iraqi Army would look bad to the rest of the world - maybe we wouldn't be over there now! Where's the MSM on this? Powell's a pussy! He's cost us dearly with his "we are gonna loose world opinion and support if we continue on to Baghdad" scared little girl routine. He's a pussy for sitting back silent while Scooter Libby took the fall for something Armatage did! Screw him!

OT:
From Powerline, The latest polling shows Republican challenger Bill Russell leading Mad Jack Murtha by three points in Pennsylvania's 12th District.

It's hard to say whether the poll is not accurate, though, because "We are not aware of any public polls conducted by any of the major polling organizations."
I know this was traditionally considered a safe Democrat seat, but that by itself isn't enough reason for zero polling for the district. There's got to be more to it. With all of the stupid crap Murtha has been saying, Russell might really have a chance. At least I'm hoping so.

Tinian,
Seriously?
Did you read their disclaimer?
This is not a scientific poll and was conducted by a lone blogger who spends his time writing about dinosaurs in Washington and advice columns for presidential candidates. We are not aware of any public polls conducted by any of the major polling organizations. Ours should not be taken as anything more than a blogger on the street asking questions.
And there was a poll done about 10 days ago (admittedly before the racist and red neck shit). and Murtha was up by 27%.
I'm not saying it's not fun to hope, I just don't want people taking that seriously and getting their hopes up for no reason.

This is what bothers me. If the women who raised your husband is on her death bed, why are you not going along to pay her a final visit/ show your respect; especially since reportedly you didn't bother to visit her while vacationing in Hawaii this summer?

"I do not know what to think about this Hawaii trip. I know it is the top story on google news "Obama" visits sick grandmother". I would like to think it is something more but I think it is one more thing just to make him look good."
We question it because of his many lies and distortions and half-truths and non-truths. That's the problem. Do I feel a little bit bad for questioning his trip? Yes, I do. But he has given me absolutely no reason to trust anything he says or does. It is extremely curious for 2 main reasons:
1.) The lawsuit that just so happens to be due in court this week on his BC
2.) When someone dear to you is very ill and frail, you drop EVERYTHING and run, fly, catapult, whatever yo u need to do to get there ASAP. You do not know what's going to happen, and time is precious. So is comforting the sick.
I hope he is not using his granny. And I hope she recovers. And I really hope he is not lying or fudging this trip's motives for political reasons. But he is a very, very shady character, so unfortunately, we don't know. I saw a commerical where he politicizes his mother's death from cancer to go on a spiel about healthcare. That's not right to me. I lost my mom to the disease and it didn't sit well with me AT ALL to see him exploit his deceased mother. You don't use your mom's pain and suffering for ersonal gain. Sick bastard.
Actually, I was pretty fucking pissed when I saw that ad. And I still am.

Does anyone actually know "what ails granny?"
I just read an article on yahoo news that states:
"The 85-year-old former bank executive is said to be "gravely ill" after falling and breaking her hip"
a) I've witnessed many hip replacement surgeries, what actually happens with most senior women is the loss of calcium (osteoporosis) causes the hip to weaken and break resulting in the fall
b) broken hips are not life threatening, but a stay in the hospital can be
can anyone put me some fucking knowledge in here about granny's actual medical condition?

As a Concerned Christian (Talking Points memo says to always capitalize "Concerned." Not sure why.), I know from my Bible what's going on. Our Messiah is going to recreate the Lazarus story. Only this time, He's going to raise a racist woman, and make her into a member of Rev. Wright's church.
