— LauraW To The Left
The Left thinks of itself as the only agency which opened the door of society to women and minorities. They think they own that archway. It really burns their collective butt when Conservatives of the brown and/or female persuasion are promoted to high office.
It galls them to know that women of just any political bent could walk through open doorways that they credit themselves for creating.
They are for equal opportunity, they say. But they really don't believe that.
Equal opportunity for Lefties, only. Otherwise you are an interloper. A Conservatively-created cartoon of what politically active women are supposed to look like.
They feel they have a natural right to decide specifically which women and minorities are entitled to some rank. That's how they show their love of diversity.
Their desire is to set up a tollbooth at this particular patch of road and turn conservatives away, as they have in academia and in the MSM.
Sorry, guys. Genie is out of the bottle.
One more thing.
If Obama wins this election, there will never be another real, fair election in your lifetime. Think ACORN voter fraud x 1000, every damn cycle. Courts and money will be stacked against conservatives- and possibly the American people as a whole- for a long, long, long time.
Think of the vote-stealing network and apparatus they have managed to accumulate as a minority party. Now think of it after it gains Presidential and Congressional support for eight years (not four, trust me, that won't be allowed to happen).
We have to defeat this asshole and the corrupt, Anti-America, terrorist, marxist friends he's fronting for.
Oh, and did I mention that even though she's a powerful woman, Sarah is not married to some milquetoast metrosexual prettied-up replica of manhood?

Obama and the radical Democrats will not rest until the entire nation is one huge Cook County: the government submissive to the Party, and the Party controlled by the Boss.
Obama will do the following three things within the first six months of his administration:
- Assign a special prosecutor to "investigate" the Bush Administration.
- Restore the "Fairness" Doctrine, to deny his opponents a voice.
- Set a deadline for withdrawing troops from Iraq, probably by mid-2010.
None of this is shocking. What will be shocking will be the brazenness and the ruthlessness with which he will act.

Oh, Bambi would be a disaster and there is a sizable portion of the country for whom the Republican brand is unacceptable, but that is just hyperbole. The Democrat party is corrupt to its roots, but that's not new, and they've held power unchallenged before, we recovered and we will recover again. Our biggest advantage is that the Progs can't help themselves and that the American people are decidely contrarian (and they have a way of letting their objections become known). Let the lefties enact some of their stupidity (and, no, I don't want this to happen because America will suffer, but if it does...) and the people will turn to the only viable alternative-the pubbies.
In the meantime, I have faith in the average American's ability to see things as they are. The Dems will say it's raining every day, but Joe and Jill six-pack know what that is splashing against their leg.

The then and now pervailing idea that McCain, whatever his poll numbers, was the only Republican that had a shot was total nonsense. Obama was one of the most flawed candidates in American history. Any actual Conservative would have known exactly what buttons to push, anti-American preacher and racist church, check, terrorists and all sorts of whackos, former "employee" (really, a leech on the American system - community organizer, check) of an often criminal enterprise, a trillion dollars to ungrateful foreigners, directly connected to the worst financial disaster in the past few decades, check...the list goes on.
Unfortunately, we got the one guy who was too stubborn and stupid to do it. The ultimate Senate insider, who cares more about his reputation amongst the fellow crooks than the ugly truth. And who, when he finally bothered to dip into the plentiful, ready ammunition, waited so long that it looked (rightly) as a desperate move by someone who'd already proclaimed most of the stuff irrelevant.
Congratulations Republican primary voters, you selected a real electable winner, John Kerry II. Well, at least this one was a real war hero, to the extent events 30 years ago matters a damn.

Earlier today Glenn Reynolds linked to a post by Katie Granju on why she and a lot of women don't like Palin. Basically her complaint is that Palin somwhow isn't grateful enough to all the first wave feminists. It was pretty weak tea and one of her commenters pointed out that Granju's real objection was that Palin doesn't support abortion and somehow this is the same as betraying women in general.
Plus I think there's a bit of envy for her looks, achievements, and making it 'look too easy' going on as well. Of course it only seems that way because she's had a supportive husband and family since day one.

Then there's the issues, from immigration to full-blown oil drilling (on which McCain is luke-warm at best) and cap and trade, where we simply forfeited much of, if not all advantage from the start.
Wow, what a nightmare this campaign year has been.

We didn't "get" McCain. He was foisted upon us by the relentless MSM who convinced the "idependents" to vote in the GOP primary for McCain. He won with independents, not with GOP votes.
And as soon as he was safely assured of the nomination, the MSM began attacking him and tearing him down.
Yes, McCain IS shit,,,,but this is the election the MSM dictated and the ending is set.
We are fucked. Cling to your guns and religion for the forseeable future.

They hate her because Sarah has it all and did it on her own, on talent, ambition, and yes, good looks. Sarah puts all those leftist-dried up feminists with their unused cooters gathering dust to shame. They look at Sarah and see how happy they could have been- how they could have been moms and wives AND governors AND run for Vice President- but they never will, because instead, they sold their souls to NOW and their wombs to NARAL.
Sarah Palin's life is a mirror held up to feminists' self-loathing. And it's driving them over the edge of sanity.

Shit, I don't even have religion to cling to, or for that matter, a gun, being a resident of D.C.
And clinging to my hard-earned money's certainly out.
Aside, although the open primaries hurt, I also think we have to realize that teh Party's shifting with the rest of the country, and has been for a long time. We've won tactical victories, but they've got the government bureaucrats, schools, universities and academics (the latter of which write the history and studies for the policy wonks), media, and a free flow of socialist inclined new voters.
Going to be a difficult march back.

Yep, and another little thing too. Since the "Democrats" have shown that they are already willing (and apparently able) to suborn judges, sheriffs, prosecutors and election officials, un-stacking that deck it will likely not be able to be accomplished all nice and cleanly at the ballot-box will it? These fuckers are not just interested in turning America into a socialist state: if they are not stopped, they will ultimately present free Americans with the bitter choice of living in a Cuba, or a Falluja.
Of course, that is precisely the lose-lose choice many of Obama's buddies want to present us with, isn't it?
Elections have consequences, and so do "free" medias that decide they are the best ones to decide what party runs things.

I disagree. You are talking party, and not ideology.
The FAR-far-Left never ever had a presence like this in the U.S., in the media, the academia, the courts, and the Congress, as it does today.
This is new.
If you think the tide will roll the other way again soon, IMO you are a frog in a pot of slowly warming water.
We've seen Obama's connections to vote stealers and radicals.
Sound the damn alarm, already.

The left feels very threatened by a conservative woman, conservative black, conservative hispanic , and every other conservative in a "minority" group that does not toe the line of what they define the proper behavior and thinking for that minority. The reason of course is that these renegades expose them for what they are, ideological leftists who use identity politics and victimhood to advance their political goals, they could care less about the well-being or advancement of these minorities. Sarah Palin is specially threatening because she is so compeling and has the potential to dominate the political dialog for a long time to come. They cannot survive it.

Commenter rrpjr at Dirty Harry's Place has a sure-fire plan to win the election. http://dirtyharrysplace.com /?p=4902#comment-53900
"Palin should take a page from Will Rogers. Every day she should pull out an LA Times, WaPo, Time magazine, etc., hold it up, and say, “Gosh, look what these fellas said today about me”… or “about John McCain…” or “you’d never guess how many newspapers decided not to print yesterday’s news about [fill-in-the-blank] or “Say, do these guys get together every morning on a conference call and agree on what to write and what not to write…” or…”how is that all these newspapers can spin a story the same old way every day.” Just hold up the paper while she ruminates on the story. She could do the same thing with the broadcast media.
This way she could discuss the actual story, that is, her and McCain’s take on it, and simultaneously jab the media for bias — all in an offhanded way.
The media would hate her even more. The people would love her even more. No end of fresh material every day. No lose."
Why is it guaranteed? The Democrats and the MSM have lost their sense of humor. It's the Reagan Way. When asked about his advanced age in a Presidential debate Ronald Reagan promised "I am not going to exploit for political purposes my opponent's youth and inexperience.". Even his opponent Mondale laughed.

What Lauraw said. If Obama wins it'll be Chicago/Cook County politics writ large, on a national scale. Take it from one who knows, it won't be pretty. And, gee, ya think Hizzoner de Mare, Daley, will be pulling strings? You don't rise in Chicago politics without becoming beholden to Daley. That whole "Chicago way" bit makes for a good movie line, but in reality it's awful.

I posted on the 2004 Washington State fraudulent voting in one of the other ACORN threads. If you google/wiki that election, and perhaps examine SoundPolitics.com for some of the pictures, you get a good idea of just how poorly "illegal ballots" can be handled and gotten away with.
3000 known illegal ballots, 200 vote margin of victory.
Elected WA Supreme Court judges, crazy law, incurious US Attorney (John McKay, fired.), and the secret ballot.
I fully expect the Dems to soon trot out Christine Gregoire to lecture us about the sanctity of the vote and dangerous possibility of a stolen election. That's how they do things.
And even worse, Republicans agree with her.

What depresses me the most about the PDS is that if they succeed in ruining her career, we may never see a real person liked her ever attempt to run for national office. Who will want to put up with the kind of bullshit that Sarah Palin has? I'm talking Democrats as well as Republicans. I had a Congressman for one term named Mike Fitzpatrick, who was as honest as anyone you could meet. Great family with six kids. Done all sorts of stuff in the community. Worked his ass off in his first term. Even got endorsed by the Sierra Club. And the liberals painted him as George Bush's buttboy and turned out all the blacks and poor people in the sliver of the district that is heavily Democratic, and beat him. He'll never run for office again.
What we are getting is a generation of made-up, manufactured candidates like Barack Obama.

If you haven't read this post - go read it - its a real hoot. I really liked the part where Ms Granju says "WE" don't hate Palin because she's attractive and then follows this up with : but she really isn't that attractive. Huh? Let me clue Katie in - you don't get to tell me (and I think I speak for most AOS morons too) that Palin isn't hot. She uses 2 examples of women (Halle Berry and Jennifer Aniston) she says are attractive. Speaking for myself I think Palin compares quite well with both of these Hollywood divas.
Ms. Granju is definitely protesting too much - and her attempt to dismiss Palin's as not that attractive says more about her then it does about Gov Palin.
