[Vinnie] Tonight's Flaming Douch Award Belongs To..
— Open Blog

These magnificent specimens of human debris, and their 100 guests.

THE Muslim wedding of a seven-year-old boy and a five-year-old girl has been raided by police.

Cops arrested the Muslim cleric conducting the sick ceremony and the children’s parents in Pakistan’s largest city.

The cleric had not yet begun the ceremony of Mohammad Waseem, seven, and his bride Nishain Karachi, five – which was attended by 100 guests.

Edited [ace]: I took down the flaming douche... don't want to wear it out, and I'm thinking I need to hold off on it until I get a less sexual sort of douche for the pic.

Update [Vinnie] I agree with Ace.

1 I think it's a terrible subculture. Specimens of human debris is not how I would have worded it, but it's such a terrible thing to do I guess I have to overlook it. Score one for the Pakistani police.

2 It's the "100 guests" thing that really hits hardest.

There were that many people in one place who were totally okay with this?  Really?

4 Aw'right Morons. The Boss is a good man and He has earned a lot of our respect these last couple of Months. Not that it hasn't been a great pleasure and a free education for Moi to read these annals of history; Foul election year of our Lord 2008. Three Cheers for the Blogger who has put up with all of our shit and come back day after day. November 15th or so, Ace, you should book yourself a six day to Zihuatanejo. We need a Moron to set it up so that We can pitch in some Moolah. Put you money where your posts are Morons. This is a great site and you are a good bunch.

33 Ace -

FWIW, I suffer from a similar phenomena, although it's not DREAMS that come to me, but rather one the random tiny humiliations I've suffered throughout my life.  I'm not talking big important shit here, I'm talking "that time in 9th grade where I said that dumb thing to a girl" type stuff here.  I'll literally just be bopping along doing my own thing, and then WHAM, I'll get hit with a weapons-grade flashback to the moment of "Oh my god I've made an ass of myself."  Sometimes I'll literally flinch from it, physically.  All of these things that come back to me are the deadest of dead letter moments: stuff that doesn't matter now and likely never did.  But they'll just appear at random and linger there in my memory for five or so minutes, like a terrible cold-snap headache.

No idea if it's related to what you're talking about, but it's always weirded me out.  I have no idea why I hang onto these sorts of things, or why they crop up so suddenly.

39 Ace, I have a suggestion to you that I think could be life enhancing, and it would sound hokey on its face. But I think it would help and I'm not sure if I should mention it or not.

Basically it involves choosing some new beliefs and a method of internalizing them. Not on everything, but on finances and your natural "success level" vs. thinking about past failures.

As I said it DOES sound hokey... but I guarantee you Donald Trump, David Petraeus, and even John McCain (more notably Arnold) think more along these lines.

58 Call me a skeptical dog, but this is after all the Sun, known throughout the UK as the mostly likely paper to make your garbage feel insulted if put in it. It reminds me of a story that hit the dead tree news wires last summer about the Iranian Parliament passing a law that required Jews and Christians to put the Farsi equivalent of a "J" or "C" as the case may be on their coats. Pretty outrageous, except completely made up, and then for some reason folks were less outraged at being lied to. Any, the "story" to which Openblog links has all the telltale signs of a made up story. Why don't you Tools ever show the slightest interest in holding Ace and his Hole Cards accountable for the crap they serve up to you? But perhaps I'm missing something here & in reality Openblog is suggesting an alliance of the Sun and AOSHQ. It would be a good fit.

65 David @ 32 - You wanna know a couple of things about that Khalidi LAT story? First: It turns out the single biggest financial sponsorship Khalidi ever received came from [ta da] Senator John McCain: $445,000, or more than 4 times what the organization Obama was connected to gave him. Second: Khalidi has been interviewed since all this videotape crap started up, and among other things he points out that he knows Obama disagrees with him on a number of issues on Palestinians and Israel, because Obama said so to him. Third: Khalidi's name is NOT pronounced "KaLAHdi" as a certain VP candidate who shall go unnamed pronounces it, who apparently is completely ignorant of everything known in public to be true of Khalidi. Fourth: Khalidi himself refers to this a "passing idiot storm", which shows he has a lot more tolerance of that certain VP candidate and the wingosphere that they do for him. Fifth: Do you want to know how Khalidi managed to sneak into the US and somehow get citizenship? Turns out he was BORN here. In other words, he is not only one whole hell of a lot smarter and more worthwhile a person than Ace or his Hole Cards or the Tools, he's actually an AMERICAN. Jeez, and to think I was almost feeling sorry for you morons about how the election is going.

Posted by: johnjacobjingleheimersmith and wesson at October 31, 2008 10:32 PM (2rMGM)

67 DD, that money went to a poling firm in Palestine, and Khalidi was only one of a dozen or so whose paths crossed with that money.

The fact is, we have tried since Camp David to get these shitheels to make peace with Israel and we use pollsters and other political  things for that purpose, the same there as we do here.

We worked with the trembling one Yassir Arabfat, too. Doesn't mean we approved of that turd either.

Point is, we work with unsavory characters out of necessity, No-bama hangs with them out of CHOICE, and that makes all the difference: voluntary versus doing what just has to be done.

But you already know that as surely as the fact that you should go F*** yourself...

But I digress.

First: It turns out the single biggest financial sponsorship Khalidi ever received came from [ta da] Senator John McCain: $445,000, or more than 4 times what the organization Obama was connected to gave him.

Uh, no.  Khalidi was on a board of an organization that got funding from an institute McCain was on.

Second: Khalidi has been interviewed since all this videotape crap started up, and among other things he points out that he knows Obama disagrees with him on a number of issues on Palestinians and Israel, because Obama said so to him.

He says Obama said so?  Well, that clears it right the fuck up!  Now if that's on the tape, wouldn't you care to see it as well?

Third: Khalidi's name is NOT pronounced "KaLAHdi" as a certain VP candidate who shall go unnamed pronounces it, who apparently is completely ignorant of everything known in public to be true of Khalidi.

No doubt Obama can pronounce his name perfectly, being as how they're pals and all.

Fourth: Khalidi himself refers to this a "passing idiot storm", which shows he has a lot more tolerance of that certain VP candidate and the wingosphere that they do for him.

Yeah, most likely he said it between shouting "Death to Israel" and fondly remembering that time he found a young boy for Arafat to sodomize.

75 Cristoph,

I hope too.  It's amazing that with all the discontent at Bush and the public perception that we're some kind of economic catastrophe that is Bush's fault (?), and that Obama has 4 times the cash Mccain has, that Mccain has a fighting chance.  I think that says people don't want Obama to be their president, even if they also don't want Bush's party to win the election.

Mccain is a safe pick.  No one is going to be thrilled, and no one is going to be absolutely disgusted (unless they are extremists who are always disgusted with any electable pol).

I don't think I'd engrave a trophy for Mccain based on this poll, but I think it's more reliable than the Obama +11 polls.  Everyone knows Obama overperforms in polling, and I think that's dramatically worse now than it was in February.

Obviously Mccain taking California is hard for anyone to believe.  Except in a sane world, which this isn't.  But I think the real point is that if the press were treating Mccain with the same hysterical love they have for Obama, the talk about California et al would be commonplace.  In other words, the talk about Obama dominating is EXACTLY like the talk about Mccain taking California.  That's my source of hope, anyway.

Not a whole lot of time to guess left, though.  I'm headed to St. Louis for Mccain tomorrow.  It's simply put up or shut up time.
