Parts of it were artsy, and I kinda like artsy. But doing things a little differently is no excuse for making a boring movie.

I'm not sure about this whole PJM TV thing, the show seems a little short on professionalism.
That said, I did like their main point. Old Bond: rough people doing bad things to protect a superior society. New Bond: good people doing good things despite the evils of society.

If I recall Bond enjoyed doing bad things to bad people almost as much as in Casino Royale. The movie didn't throw out any of the old tropes that those two seem to think it did. The fact that they hit the same subject matter (oh my, they mentioned oil!) doesn't mean that they were going to go full moonbat.
Don't be hypersensative, that's the liberal's job.

Women
Gadgets
Explosions
James Bond was never designed to be a realistic portrayal of things, it's over the top and that was why I loved it.
Now.. Bond turned into a dark brooding emo mourning over a girl who betrayed him.
Then he completely ignores the smokin hot Olga Kurylenko... this movie is a victim of bad writing and that kind of sucks because Craig is a damn good Bond.
Please let's get back to jetpacks and pussy galore.

Haven't seen it yet but it sounds like unabashed faggotry. I wouldn't be surprised if 007 eats a cock in the next installment.

They actually discuss the film? After two minutes of listening to them blather, I gave up. Oh yeah, and the movie sucked ass.

My wife and I have seen it twice.

Quantum doesn't make sense as a concept; SPECTRE did because it was a criminal organization, like the French, Italian, and Chinese mobs, that did not bother to avail themselves of government resources. Mr Greene, is not an impressive villain, and no amount of Kosian conspiracy makes him more realistic.
Sarah's the real draw in Georgia, four different trips, in one day. She's the real draw in the party, if anyone can turn out the vote for Chambliss, she can. For all the reasons I've covered earlier. Those four million Republicans who decided not vote three weeks ago, feel real good just about now, don't they?

It was enjoyable action, but really - explain to me why a hotel in the middle of Bumfuck Egypt desert (and no discernible attraction or other guests) has what
appears to be large containers of explosive gas in all portions of the building?
/yes, I know, it was South America, not Egypt
Posted by: Frank G at November 29, 2008 03:08 PM (P0rQD)
I just saw it this afternoon. The containers were fuel-cells. Hyrdogen gas fuel cells. And one of the baddies in the general's entourage mentioned that there had been no problem clearing the hotel. (You kind of have to pay attention to the dialogue--I know, not usually necessary in a Bond film). The hotel name was 'Pearl of the Dunes' or something like that, and I suppose it was supposed to be something the eco-villan's (I like the sound of that) company put together or something. I guess. I sort of wonder what happened to the staff, but then that discussion would devolve into the 'what-about-the-construction-workers-on-the-deathstar' conversation from 'Clerks'.
Its a movie.

I'd quibble further, but...ahhhh, shit. It's a movie :-)

Fuck these fat old fucks who reminisce about how JFK turned them onto Bond when they were teenagers. Gosh, movie making sensibilities have changed since then? The horror!
Quantum is not a great Bond movie. Craig is a great Bond. But spare me the fucking political exegisis. I live and breathe politics, but I don't care if Bond is out to save baby harp seals from global warming. I just want a good Bond movie.
And when I want opinions from old fat fucks I'd rather read them than have to look at the old fat fucks.

I think after Dark Knight raised the bar from its successful reboot predecessor, folks were expecting the same here.

Something that hasn't been mentioned is the overquick cutting. I didn't mind them cutting between things like the horse race and Bond's chase of the turned agent, but when they cut within the action at one second intervals, it is difficult to figured out what is going on. I think your brain needs 2-3 seconds on each clip to catch on. Any faster is just too much.
As to the gadgets, well, I hated the last pre-Craig Bond because they were doing stupid things like invisible cars. Let's face it, gadgetwise, we are living in a James Bond world. Instant communication practically anywhere, tracking of just about anything anywhere, cameras and hellfires on flying drones... Just how could they possibly do a gadget that would be nifty enough to be Bondsian, but not so stupid that people won't groan (like the invisible car)? A very difficult problem.
Just having Bond use the everyday gadgets we use is good enough for me.
