I'm happy to see these beasts being captured and I would certainly hope that soon enought hey would provide sufficient intelligence to capture Zarqawi. However, I'm still quite upset that others in Iraq (Sadr's militia?) are walking around shooting tennis players because they wear shorts. The Iraqi government has to get a hold of those guys too.
Maybe one thing at a time, but it's still very frustrating to hear stuff like the shooting of the tennis players of that of the children's entertainers.

So the real question is, where's the liberal comprehension of military and political reality? At least we know where the liberal snark is.

Come on, GTL. That's not what he said and you know it. He said that winning the war on terrorism was more important than capturing one man. He was trying to prevent the sort of tunnel vision that you are displaying. This war will not be over if OBL is captured tomorrow, though a good portion of the US would demand it. Bush is trying to keep people focused on the bigger picture.
I can't think of one American, save for a few of the nuts in ANSWER or one of the sister organizations, who wouldn't want OBL captured and punished and nobody more than Bush. Even if you look at it from a totally political approach, Bush stands to gain more from the capture of OBL than any person on the planet.

This is noteworthy because their mission is *not* to stabilize Afghanistan, like the UN forces are supposed to do (and I believe the other US forces). They are trying to get a lead on Osama's whereabouts, while continuing to pressure the radical Islamists and hinder their attempts to reestablish their power base.

I read "The Stand" because I actually lived on Arapahoe Avenue in Boulder, where some of the novel takes place. When I read The Stand, I remember thinking there was no way anybody could ever create a good movie out of the book, and I was correct; it took a mini-series, which was quite well done IMO.
And yes, Malkin's hot - when her mouth is closed ;-)

The only issue I had with the television adaptation of "The Stand" was in the casting. I just didn't buy Molly Ringwald as Fran Goldsmith.
Gary Sinise as Stu Redman, though, was perfect.
