The term "good parent" is ambiguous.  Many people responsible for the harm or death of their children were "good parents".  I'm sure he loved his daughter.  That doesn't change the fact that this "good parent" made a really stupid call that caused the death of his child.  He didn't intend for her to die, but she did, nonetheless, because of his decision.  With what little is known about this case, I call it a 'yes'.  Her death is his fault.  He is responsible.

Yes, Obama will fire Fitzgerald using the clean-slate pretext Clinton used. Given the justifiably well-known, ridiculously limited American attention span, tactically minded politicians tend to do the unsavory stuff early. With the media still covering for him, Obama might lose two or three points in the polls should he fire Fitzgerald, at worst. What gets me is that what we're seeing now in Illinois will be what we as a country are going to experience for at least the next two years and probably longer. There is such a thing as a political environment, where the tone is set by those in charge. Such an environment can be the moral equivalent of a church or a whorehouse. For example, it probably never occurred to Blegoivich he was doing anything wrong, much less illegal, since that is the way the Chicago machine operates--has always operated. Now, imagine the whole country ran that way, where payoffs and kickbacks and back-scratching and feather-bedding are the norm, not the exception.

Given what we know about Democratic Party tactics, does anyone honestly believe the elections of 2010 are going to be fair? We conservatives need to get tougher, harder, more ruthless. McCain's misplaced sense of honor and fair play and resolute unwillingness to get his hands dirty made for a losing strategy. Losing honorably is still losing. Enough of that shit.

Getting rid of him at this point makes perfect sense.

Think about it: Over the last 10 years, the Broncos have been one of the best teams in the NFL. Not the best every year, but top five in terms of talent for most of those ten years. The result was a promising playoff run, once, three years ago. Whereas the Baltimore Ravens have sucked for every single one of the last 10 years and have a Super Bowl title. Both results come down to coaching.
