From NYT online, top headlines include:

In Political Realm, ‘Family Problem’ Emerges as Test

Palin Daughter’s Pregnancy Interrupts Script

Do I detect a theme there?

From Alternet (complete with a bizarre, poorly taken photo of Sarah Palin looking either agressive or uncomfortable behind a semi-automatic rifle of some kind):

And, from the LA Times:

Top Ten Most Disturbing Facts and Impressions of Sarah Palin

And, from the LA Times:

Stakes of McCain's choice of Palin are clearer

Hmmm. The left and the MSM seem preoccupied with Sarah Palin, and why she might hurt McCain. How thoughtful of them.

2 But this is not theory, and to a certain extent its not even politics, this is life. Steve Schmidt is not wrong when in reaction to the news he says, " Life happens."

Sorry, for the two "From the LA Times" above. The first one's are all from Alternet, only the last one is from the LA Times.

Most of the other AlterNet links didn't pass through for whatever reason (even though they are underlined) but you can always just go to AlterNet if you want to see all their articulate objections of Palin, and explanations of why she's such a bad choice for McCain. Always nice to see progressives dropping their partisanship and helpfully giving Republicans good advice.

It really is a new kind of politics.

4 What a week.  We have seen the left in all its deranged glory.

1.  The orgasmic Obama-worship from the MSNBC and the rest of the MSM.
2.  The pretentiousness of the Chosen One emerging from the Greek Temple of Hope and Change.
3.   The viciousness of the attacks against Sarah Palin.
4.  The gleeful anticipation to Katrina II by Fatass Mikey Moore and Halfwit Fowler.
5.  The disgusting DailyKos rumors about 17-year-old Bristol Palin and the almost gleeful reception by the Kossacks at CNN, MSNBC, NYT, LAT. etc. about her announced pregnancy.
6.  Anarchists, filthy hippies, and other leftist trash attacking an 80-year-old woman and a busload of children during their "peaceful" protest in St. Paul.

Ask Bristol Palin,
Liberals are MEAN

P Diddy weighs in on Palin:

"What is the reality in Alaska?  There's not even no crackheads in Alaska.  There's not even no black people....there's not even no, like.....crime?  Like....you shoulda got Michelle Obama to be your running mate"

As a conservative and someone who voted for Bush twice, I am not very happy with this flippant AA pick.

I don't even think they have indoor plumbing in Alaska.

Anyone who's seen Northern Exposure knows they were basically living in eskimo ice huts until a New Yorker came along to straighten them out.

"Crude Oil Trading as Low as $105.46 what will those OPEC-ers do?"

I blame speculators for driving the price of crude oil down 30%, and I demand an investigation.

9 This just in: [Begin Quote] Stock in Kimberly-Clark, manufacturer of Depends brand products, has skyrocketed since Friday noon in both after-hours and over-the-weekend trading. Speculation on Wall Street is that the buying frenzy may be indirectly related to presidential candidate John McCain's selection of Alaska Gov. Sarah H. Palin to be his running mate . . . [End Quote] Hmmmm. Evidently McCain's got them p*ssing in their nickers. Disclaimer: I may have made up some of the content in that Quote. (But, it's accurate anyway. Just ask Dan Rather how that works.)

10 Yesterday, Obama said, "family is off the table"

Today, that's all the media wants to talk about.

I think it tells us, everything we need to know about the media.

11 I keep thinking of the movie 1941 where Dan Akroyd's army crew is installing a gun battery by a guy's house. He keeps warning him not to use it but is actually giving him the full instructions on how to load and fire it with negative statements like:

"Do not ever load this weapon by placing a shell, point first in the breach and closing it securely"

"Do not EVER, EVER fire the weapon by pulling the fire mechanism and covering your ears"

I am just say'n that when I hear Obama tell reporters not to attack Palin's family all I can hear is Dan's voice.

>Yesterday, Obama said, "family is off the table"<

Yea, Obama gets to take the high road while the MSM is his Palin Hatchet Man.  Clever.

What's Biden for, anyway?

Not that I actually believe in conspiracies or anything, but has anyone else noticed that CNN is no longer showing the current price of oil on their buissness page?  They've had that up with the markets, bonds, and dollar all summer long while the price was high. Now that the summer is over, I guess demand and interest is down.

Or does the dropping price of oil not contribute to the messiahs chances?

Seems Drudge is reporting that McCain's staff is complaining of media bias, get this, against him! Shocking !! Hope he feels sufficiently violated by his friends.

17 I read the Lakoff piece -- really very odd -- you go through two pages in which he describes the left in terms of its own fantasy ideal of itself, then he describes the rural right in terms of the left's fantasy view of it (he doesn't appear to have any direct factual basis for his description), and then when you get near the end and expect him to recommend a more effective way of responding to Palin, he offers nothing. His contribution to the left's attempt to win the election is like a sterile drone fly sent out to cause fertile flies to waste their time instead of finding something fertile to mate with.

F$&$^%^

Rasmussen has Obama up by 6, with 51% of the vote (highest yet)

FD/Hotline has Obama up by 9

CBS News has Obama up by 8

Starting to get a bit hairy. These were all taken after the Palin pick. Reverse Palin effect? McCain and Palin have to knock it out of the park in their speeches

20 Wow-wee.  When last I looked you guys were deep in the throes of an identity politics feel-good orgy.  Which by the way is exactly who  you are.  Identity freaks.  How else can you explain deifying  an actor, worshipping a fake cowboy and now rallying around a "frontier" chick all because she wears boots, has a smoking bod and shoots a gun.We got this she shot an elk!

Let me get this straight-she's an amazing person and would make an amazing president because she refuted an internet rumor about her unwed under-aged daughter giving birth by revealing that she couldn't have because she is 5 months pregnant?!?!  Really?!?!?  I wonder if Johnny Mac will be invited to the wedding?

The rapidity at which you freaks coalesce around a message is amazing-I see the fp attempts to minmize the McCain vetting story as a meme amazingly so does this moron:
Dissecting the 'McCain Didn't Vet Palin' Meme - Tom Blumer, PJM
Great minds...

Btw, I came across nothing in any lefty blogs, punditry, or in talking to other enlightened folks such as myself indicated any worry whatsoever regarding the Palin puck as they all saw it for what it was. That, dear fp, was a desperate attempt at a meme by you and yours. But now?  I'm afeared fellow bright lights will collapse in joy and slack.

You just lost; Jews in Fla (Buchanannite), sober catholics in OH, PA, WI (freaky family)and independent working women in CO NM and MT (McCain's judgement).  This tabloid shit is anathema to those precious swings, you should realize that.

The thing is this going to get worse and worse.  He thought he had Bama and Hill in one package but all he really had was the personification of the one charge that has been keeping him and the GOP down for this entire cycle; judgement.

A seccesionist for VP?  Alaska First!

I knew as an AK pol she had to have Steven's bones in her closet, and they will be fun to chew on.

Troopergate-that's going to be the trickling creek that keeps all these stories moving through the press.

Johnny wanted Ridge or Joe, you freaks forced his hand.  Here is you, fully realized and the country at large embarassedly looks down and shuffles their feet whispering "I thought you said they weren't coming to this one."

Olberdouche is still anchoring the Republican Convention.  He's just doing it from home.  This way he doesn't have to talk with anyone he disagrees with.  Seriously the guys at the convention do the interviews with guests and he just throws it around to the anchors and makes some "spetul koments".
