Tomorrow is NFL Draft Day [someone]
— Open Blog

So of course it's a good time to laugh at the Jets...

On the other hand, at least they aren't the Broncos.

2 The Jets management are veritable Einsteins compared to the Lions brass.  End of discussion.

3 It's baseball season. What is this NFL you speak of?

4 Heh... the Jets.  I especially enjoyed how last season all of the Jet's woes were the fault of Brett Favre.  Because of course they didn't suck before he was on the team.

Related draft video here.  Donovan McNabb selected in the 1st round by the Eagles (instead of Ricky Williams who was also available).  Poor guy.  Those fans look like they want to murder him.  Eagles fans are freaking dumb.  That city does not deserve to ever win anything.

5 Thanks for the fucking awesome news that will make my weekend much BETTER!  Specter the Ghost needs to go home for a long rest.

Tag team, which do you take:  That thing on Donald Trump's head or that stuff on Mel Kiper's head?

Pat Bowlen deserves what he gets with the Broncos this year.

I hope Mike Shanahan has lots of loud parties at his house and doesn't invite his neighbor Pat.

8 I hope you guys are more focused on football than on my cowardly appearnce before the cowards in congress.

I also hope you don't know who Lord Monckton is.

9 No matter what the Jets needs, they'll pick where the need is the least. Look for them to pick on the first round a WR that they could have got in the 2nd or 3rd, or a tight end who's too slow to be a receiver and too small to be a lineman. If they go for defense, it'll be a linebacker too small to be a lineman and too slow to be a safety.

The Jets should take a cue from Axelrod. They'll bring hope and change to Jets fans with the same methods, but now they're going to do it "smarter"

10 Lam Jones, Roger Vick, Blair Thomas, Johnny Mitchell. This brings back horrible nightmares.

You know which team is going to win the SB this year.

Don't make me say it.

You know.

12 Being from Seattle, I can top all y'all with two words "The Boz"--11 million dollars for 10 years, most expensive rookie contract at the time.  Yeah, that worked out well for us.

13 #13 - San Diego Chargers FTW

@14 I had the "Land of Boz" poster hanging in my room.  Ha.  (I should probably add that I was in middle school at the time).

It's a bright, sunny, safe day here in Virginia and football is on the horizon.  Does it get any better?

15 Football and weather getting warm just doesn't compute.

This here's baseball, NASCAR, and waterski season.

If the Falcons don't take defensive studs with their first 5 picks, I'm driving up there and choking someone out. This draft has a beast of a linebacker class.

I also am hoping a team I hate doesn't draft Knowshon Moreno, forcing me to root for them.

1989 Green Bay. We took Tony Mandarich second overall, ahead of Barry Sanders, Derrick Thomas and Deion Sanders. Brilliant.

The Jets will pick the smallest and slowest. I'll also guarantee that the Steelers 7th round pick will be a better player in the NFL than the Jets 1st rounder

Being a Jets fan is my pennance

The Chargers will see your Bosworth and raise you one Ryan Leaf.

24 #24 - that is distinctly uncalled for. We call the Leaf years "the lost years". But hey, we could've drafted Peyton Manning, and he hasn't worked out well, has he?.....errrr

25 #24--I guess I'd "better put ice on it"!

26 #26--Leaf practically has his own section on Deadspin.  I think they love ragging on him as much as they do on Brady Quinn.

But at least the world got some great movies out of it!

via IMDB:

[in the voice of Don LaFontaine]:
Joe Huff is a tough, go-it-alone cop with a flair for infiltrating dangerous biker gangs.

Oh, you don't get that kind of talent just anywhere.

28 my once mighty Dolphins have drafted enough felons to staff a remake of "the longest yard". the front office never changed while they blamed everything on the coaches. Parcells came in, cleaned house and they won their division.

We seem to be walking the fine line between the insatiable demand to see NFL cheerleaders and presenting comments befitting a "smart military blog."
