— Ace Looking back, it was all a pretty bad idea.
I'm keeping the threads, and you are welcome to read them and comment on them, but I want them off the front page. Too screedy, too angry. Too... honest, actually. Effective communication sometimes requires a bit of pretense.
I lost it. I am just so. Fucking. Sick of this shit. Screaming at these people that they're indecent does no good. They view their indecency as some kind of badge of authenticity and righteousness.
I thought the only thing that could possibly work is the shoe-on-the-other-foot proposition: If you believe these to be the rules the right should play by, let us see if you chafe and recognize the indecency of them when turned back upon you.
But it's not me. Or rather -- it is me, just not the pretend-me I'd like to put out to the public.
Anyway, links to the threads, now buried back in January 2005, below. Here's the "Important Question" thread.
Here's the one on RAWMUSCLGLUTES.
Serenity now. Serenity now

Understood.
And I think you're right to have vented and then let it go.
Still, when all of this reemerges after the election, it won't come as a surprise to anyone.
As far as Andrew Sullivan goes, just ignore him.
I have for almost 5 years and I feel fine.
Really, I do.

Of course you're angry, that's fine. Just post an update to each thread saying, that you've thought it over and don't think it's a good idea to ask the questions you asked. No harm, no foul.
Personally, I think it's relevant and legitimate to include a link to that Andrew Sullivan ad every time you mention him. The guy is a complete scumbag, and it would only be a service to people to learn how bad Sullivan really is. You're doing the universe a favor. If you were interviewing Sullivan on TV, you'd introduce him with that information to give the viewer a sense of balance on how distorted the guy is, because to omit that info would be a bias in Sullivan's favor.
I hate what they're doing too. There is no sense of our victory on the horizon. The left could win this way. And it's not just Sarah Palin, and her family, that they will destroy. We're ALL going to be burned to the stake once Obama is President and uses the law against us as he currently uses his supports to flare up against talk radio. We are the dead, if he wins.
I never did want to live forever anyway.

Remember ace, a noble spirit embiggens the smallest man.
Funny, I don't agree with the Dems on much. And I'm a squish on social isues. Big government is not my bag, baby. No worries, I can agree to disagree.
They, apparently, can't. Politics is personal. The subversion is complete. Five minute of hate and silencing of dissent is celebrated. Very strange stuff.
Regardless of who's in Washington my life goes on. With them we're always on fire away from the Fourth Reich. Mockery is a perfectly cromulent response.

More importantly, however, he's not up for election. And it's an important distinction, at least to my way of thinking; attacking his insanity can't be misconstrued as an attempt to smear a political candidate or sway the electorate - which is exactly what he's doing. And furthermore, you're not manufacturing rumors to do it...it's his own words and behavior.
To hell with sully. Bash him around all you like, but for god's sake just don't emulate him.

Best strategy for a recurring prisoner's dilemma is tit for tat (or technically, forgiving tit for tat).
We will lose if we don't return bad treatment in kind. This isn't theoretical.
Posted by: Hit the easy targets hardest at September 17, 2008 07:23 PM (8/0ME)
Eh. You're probably right. As I mentioned in the other thread, the Left's tactics vile smear tactics -do work-, but only when you take it up to saturation levels, when you do it so much and so constantly that people are just bulldozed into thinking "Dear God, with that much smoke, there must be a fire". Just doing it a little gets you the Palin backlash that never goes away. Keeping it up like they do, relentlessly, endlessly, makes the numbers go back down again.
I don't think any of us are capable of the kind of sustained hatred that would make it a worthwhile tactic. So we're gonna lose.
But seriously? I'll bring it back up in this thread. The one tactic we -needed- to emulate when the Left started it was that any conservative in a position of power that could influence who else gets hired or promoted into similar positions of power -had to- base those decisions purely based on ideology, not merit. The Left has been full McCarthyite (by their definition) since McCarthy, and they convinced us it was evil (when it wasn't). As a result, they got 95% control of 90% of the institutions in this country. I just hope the next time they work a tactic that unstoppable, we realize what they're doing and we match 'em, instead of letting them con us into giving up every hold we ever had on the culture in this country.

When your entire platform is shite, you HAVE to sling mud and raise hell and act like a juvenile c--t, in all 57 states.
But when you actually have an intelligent and meaningful point to make, you don't have to act like a c--t. You can quietly but effectively state your case, and with dignity. When Sarah Palin nails Biden's cack to his leg in the debates, you can bet your ass she's going to do it with a smile.

comparisons to the Taliban are apt. The ends most definitely justify the means. And like you wrote, they don't care if you don't like it. The only way you can successfully fight it is to raise the outrage level as was done to US Weekly. That guy probably has a secret service detail assigned to him, as perverted as that might seem.
Gays and extreme liberals will do anything to win. To them, it's a matter of protecting what godlessness they crave. In this way they do not differ from the Afghanistan people. Notice I dropped the Taliban pretense. Those people aren't suddenly reformed after 2000 years of societal retardation. No, they are condemned to be backward because of their widespread drug abuse. It's the same battle, some group fighting the rest of us for the right to be evil.

I don't think that we have to sustain hatred, but I do think we must be determined to sustain pressure--on the MSM, their advertisers, media blogs, and our Congress. We must contact someone every day until the election is over, and after that, if we are wise.
And, we must pressure for some answers: Obamas records, all of them (academic, travel, birth, medical). We must push for the party's opposition researchers to tell us what they have found (and I guarantee they have found something). Bush lost to Clinton because he was too much of a "gentleman" to use information found by Mary Matalin against the Clintons.
Well, the stakes are higher now. I do not feel foolish saying that I believe American culture, traditions, identity, and existence are at risk.

A valid point.
There's a yuuuge difference between McCain's silence of late and dignified attack.
McCain needs to put Obama's balls in a vice. Figuratively, of course.
He should have been shouting from the rooftops today "Fannie Mae! ACORN! Freddie Mac! ACORN!"
God knows, I'm hoping he's just loading an arsenal, but hurling a grenade in their direction once a day would please me greatly.

I can understand anger at the evil bastards attacking the Palin's children. My God, I feel it. Read my several comments about that.
I can even understand fear and extreme dislike of Barack Obama. I believe he's an extreme leftist, socialist, dishonest about his past, pro-abortion, pro-infanticide for goodness sakes. There's a lot there to hate.
And it's possible his belief systems (and those of the hideous church he attended for 20 years) will rub off on his daughters and turn them into female versions of a nasty messed up sonofabitch.
But that hasn't happened yet and to go a bit Tolkien here, it's not for us to predict the future. Now they're children, we are adults, and they deserve our protection or at least our restraint.

Texette seems to be on the right track...we need to dig for the facts and truth about Barry O (the Media Ho) and his past dealings with his friends, connections with ACORN and Fannie/Freddie and others involved in the subprime mortgage fiasco. The info needs to be out there for real Americans to see and make an informed decision - not listed to Lindsey Loho, Pam (if my boobs were brains, I'd be a genius) Anderson and Babs...we need to be that conduit to get this out to everyone we know.
I would not be suprised if John and Sarah drop the political equivalent of a 100 megaton nuke on the Barry O adnd Joe show in the next few weeks. I'm also betting that Barry O will be so dysfunctional at the debates that it will be the equvalent of political seppaku on national TV.

One of the worst consequences of the internet is that it has completed the conversion of certain vices into virtues. The anonymity permits us to express our darkest desires and rawest emotions. But it doesn't stop there. We're not only capable of performing Id dumps; we're rewarded for it. In the real world, running around screaming in incandescent rage at everything that gets in your way marks you as a lunatic. On the internet, it gets you on the front page of the Daily Kos.
Anger flourishes because we forget than anger is a sin. Sure, everyone gets angry, and we're not going to be able to control when something triggers feelings of anger inside us. Feeling that twinge of anger is involuntary, and it's not any more wrong than any other twinge of animal impulse. The vice - the sin of anger - is indulging it, nurturing it, allowing it or encouraging it to grow. That's a voluntary act, and one that's always wrong, even in service of a good end.
I used the s-word. You can chillax, though; this will be secular enough for everyone. The popular conception of sin is that it involves pissing the Flying Spaghetti Monster off. Yes, God doesn't like when we break the rules and sin. But what's really damaging about sin is not that God's going to throw us into a pit of fire because we've been bad boys and girls. Rather, sin is damaging because of what it causes us to do to ourselves.
Sin turns us away from what makes us men and towards what makes us beasts. There's nothing logical about indulging anger. We do it because it makes us feel good, because the part of us that's animal likes the way it feels. It's not irrational as much as it is pre-rational: it's a return to the time before when man evolved a conscience, before man had a soul.
"But my anger is in service of a good end, an end that I reasoned my way to," we tell ourselves. "Anger keeps me motivated and makes it more likely that the good end will be produced." Yes, anger will write a blog post that, through a chain of consequences, might just put your candidate over the top, and your smart, like-minded friends apprecate your passionate efforts.
But that anger still consumes you. Does anyone think that DUmmies or Kos Kids turn off their computers and go out into the world spreading sunshine and hugs? Is that even remotely likely? Or do they nurse their anger all day long, addicted to how good it feels, and lashing out at the guy who cuts them off in traffic or can't bag their groceries fast enough? Can they turn their anger off and be patient with their wives and children?
These people are miserable, even when they win. They need anger. It's a drug. They can't function without it. And like the pursuit of the next meth fix, pursuit of opportunities to vent anger can destroy your life.
Take Andrew Sullivan. (Please!) Here's a talented writer who's imperfect like the rest of us, but broadly respected for his openmindedness and thoughtfulness. Remember what happened in 2004? Bush came out against gay marriage, and Sullivan became consumed with anger. He still hasn't let his anger go. Now for all I know, he may be on the side of the angels on the gay marriage issue. No matter! His anger has ruined him. He's an impotent, bitter shell of his former self, and all he has left is anger. He lashes out day after day that's all that remains of him.
Now, as the guy who provided Ace with the link to Milky Loads' barebacking sites, I'm not going to tell Ace that he's out-of-bounds for putting those links up when HARDNSOLIDDC does something disgraceful. That has its place. But I will caution against doing that in anger, or indeed allowing anger to influence anyone's decisions. Sullivan, Olbermann, the Kos Kidz - they're all small people who have diminished themselves further with rage. They're killing themselves with anger. There's no reason for us to do likewise.
Let us be happy warriors. Let's fight for what's right, robustly if we have to. But let's not turn into animals as we do it. It's not about avoiding "sinking to their level" or being "no better than they are." Nothing at AoS will be worse than what RAWMUSCLGLUTES has done. It's about not letting the fight consume us. It's about emerging, win or lose, as free, rational people who are capable of all normal human emotions, including (most of all) love. Obama might win this one. God help us if he does. But we can weather that by remaining cheerful warriors, in control of our emotions, and refusing to destroy ourselves in a kamakazi attempt to win a political battle.

Or shall we revisit the light punishment the DOJ gave to the NON wayward DNCC member who was documented to steal Michel Steele's private information at Schumer's entrusted employees. The detail the FBI let out said straight up the employee was TOLD what to do with the SS# and what to get.

Righteous anger is that which is enkindled by a sense of injustice and imbalance.
And we should all embrace that sort of anger.
There should be no shortage of it in the next two months.

Ace, I've used a recent thread as teaching material, I hope, to an old liberal mind. Gimme a day. Let the shoes be worn for 150 feet. We can't ask Libs for much to start.

Andi's fucking useless to the election, and he's a marginal piece of queer trash ("gay" is too polite a term for the promiscuous, lunatic, disease-ridden filthbag). Do something that matters.

I used to believe in the high road, but no longer. Against the modern Left, fighting by Queensbury rules is simply incremental suicide. Unfortunately, there's knife work that needs doing.
There's a story (probably apochryphal) from the Holocaust about a German officer in one of the camps telling a Jewish prisoner: "The more we do to you, the less you believe we're actually doing it." Not an exact quote, but close. It's much the same with conservatives. The Left crosses a line, and conservatives rant and rave for a bit, yet never counterattack. And so a new level of acceptability is created, and the Left will push for more, knowing that they will never be pushed back.
In the main, there isn't enough pain we can inflict - rhetorical or otherwise - to ever even the score at this point. Elections are just holding actions - the nation slides more and more towards the Glorious Worker's Paradise.
I worked for the GOP in Congress for two years after the '94 revolution. Even then it was obvious that the GOP didn't have the stones for a real fight for the country's future - they would always accept whatever the new order established by the Left was. Prior to my time in DC, I had worked as a flunky for several campaigns, but after, no more. If they won't try, I won't be an accomplice to it.
I think that's the thing that has impressed me about Palin. Regardless of anything else, she has spirit and actually appears to *want* to cross blades with the Left. Rudy, too. His policies may not be the best, but at least he's willing to cut.

Who were the plumbers and why were they bad again? My memory gets fuzzy.
/reminded of the olden days when Gordon Liddy popped up on my TV last night selling debt solutions or some such. Oh the humanity

Ace, I don't know if you're still reading all the way down here, but FWIW you did the right thing.
You simply can't fight this way. We don't have the high ground. For example: everyone digging for the vilest shit they can find in Alaska is doing so under the guise of legitimate questions about Sarah Palin. It's bullshit, but it's The Narrative. You, on the other hand, should any of your attacks on Obama gain traction in the MSM, are a (racist) agent of the (racist) right-wing smear machine who is making disgusting (racist) smears against the pure and noble Lightworker who rewrites history with every step he takes, you big racist-y racist.
We won't win on this ground. It won't work.
It's not that you don't care. We know that. Keep giving us lewd'n'crude, but keep your dignity.

Obama campaign loses half of Michigan
Eh...it's negligible. There are only like 50 people and a few hundred head of moose living up there. Maybe he thinks the UP is one of his mythical 7 extra states?
