The Sinistrosphere Defends Air America

Predictably.

Somehow a rather large sum of public money for a youth and seniors' charity ended up being "loaned" to Air America. Air America hasn't repaid this "loan" yet, though it promises to do so.

The left -- beginning with Daily Kos (who else?) and spreading to its various client-blogs -- is calling this a "phony" story ginned up by extreme right-wingers.

Of course.

How can it be a phony story, Radio Equalizer wants to know, if Air America admitted it must pay back the money?

Obviously, then, money went from a charity to Air America. Is that within the operating parameters of the charity? Just loaning (or, perhaps, "loaning," if you know what I mean and I think you do) money to a for-profit talk radio network? I sort of doubt it, though I guess it's possible that's an allowable use of pubic tax money and private charitable donations. Either way, though, this isn't a "phony" story; there's possible wrongdoing here, and it needs to be investigated.

The reality-based community. Okay.

Oliver Willis' pet phrase is "the right wing Wurlitzer machine," by which I suppose he means the lockstep repetition of claims from right-leaning blogs.

I don't know. I attack Instapundit all the time, was all over Andrew Sullivan back when most considered him a conservative, and here on the right we've had vigorous disagreements about drug legalization, the patriot act, random searches of bags at subway stops, Terry Schiavo, and stem cell research.

And yet the left seems to be in unison (as of yet) in defending Air America.

Who's playing songs only from the approved corporate playlist, Oliver?

1 I like 'sinistrosphere.' Sounds menacing in a way that 'dextrosphere' doesn't. In fact, 'dextrosphere' sounds like a new artificial sweetener. "New no-cal Crystal Fruit Smart Water with sucralose and dextrosphere."

Lefties always circle the wagons. Just like the protest group 'Billionaires for Bush' weren't bothered by the fact that their candidate was the only actual billionaire bankrolled by yet another billionaire. They just don't see it, or when it's pointed out, it's never a problem when their guy does it. Air America just represents the good sort of stealing money from kids.

It's actually surprisingly lame, considering that it's a play on "Mighty Wurlitzer" -- why use "Right Wing" instead of "Righty"? Or did Ace botch that part too?

Come now, we all know the truth about these "differences of opinion," so why won't you just admit it? All the right-wing fascists who appear to argue different points of view are really just acting in lockstep - lockstep! with the instructions of Karl Rove! He orders you to pretend to have differences of opinion, and as in all cases, when Karl Rove says "jump," you all say "how high?" Pathetic the lengths to which you rightists will go to put up a smokescreen camouflaging your true beliefs from the reality-based community!

I believe the Wurlitzer organ sound was popular at baseball stadiums, and on Lawrence Welk. I think this is a crack about how "square" conservatives are and how the pajamhadeen are a bunch of cheerleadres.

13 I tried to wade through some of the Liberal BS blogs but didn't have the stomach or the patience for it. What I did read was a little bit of Clintonesque parsing and a whole lot of Liberal name calling and silly vitriol. What I did not read was any sort of proof that the allegations are not true. But I have neither the time nor the inclinclination to go through each Liberal diatribe and weight it all. I suppose in the end it comes down to whom you trust, and until the conservative blogosphere has its own rathergate, they have my confidence.
