— Ace Apparently Germany has about as much concept of how far $1 million goes as Dr. Evil.
Which seems about right.
But do scan up to read about other countries which are much more generous-- and more generous than the US, too.

In other words, American private citizens, entirely of their own accord, have given more to the relief effort than Canada, Germany and Spain combined.
"Stingy" my ass. Those European folk just need to wrap their heads around the difference between money that the government takes from us and then gives away in foreign aid and money that we donate freely.

Michael, I tried to comment at your blog but to no avail. I wanted to say your entry is right no. I actually posted a very similar entry the day after the tsunamis. The liberal part of me said posting a politicized entry about this so soon after the disaster would be mean-spirited and insensitive. The conservative part of me said, Fuck that Norwegian UN dude!
By the way, tsunami is politically incorrect as it limits the wave to a particular race and dialect. The correct terminology is "Enlarged Water Event".
