— Ace To say something positive: Jacob Weisberg is admirably forthright and direct about what most liberals are dishonestly passive-aggressive about.
But, that aside, it's all downhill from there.
If Obama Loses: Racism is the only reason McCain might beat him....
If it makes you feel better, you can rationalize Obama's missing 10-point lead on the basis of Clintonite sulkiness, his slowness in responding to attacks, or the concern that Obama may be too handsome, brilliant, and cool to be elected. But let's be honest: If you break the numbers down, the reason Obama isn't ahead right now is that he trails badly among one group, older white voters. He does so for a simple reason: the color of his skin.
...
Many have discoursed on what an Obama victory could mean for America. We would finally be able to see our legacy of slavery, segregation, and racism in the rearview mirror. Our kids would grow up thinking of prejudice as a nonfactor in their lives. The rest of the world would embrace a less fearful and more open post-post-9/11 America. But does it not follow that an Obama defeat would signify the opposite? If Obama loses, our children will grow up thinking of equal opportunity as a myth. His defeat would say that when handed a perfect opportunity to put the worst part of our history behind us, we chose not to. In this event, the world's judgment will be severe and inescapable: The United States had its day but, in the end, couldn't put its own self-interest ahead of its crazy irrationality over race.
...
You may or may not agree with Obama's policy prescriptions, but they are, by and large, serious attempts to deal with the biggest issues we face: a failing health care system, oil dependency, income stagnation, and climate change. To the rest of the world, a rejection of the promise he represents wouldn't just be an odd choice by the United States. It would be taken for what it would be: sign and symptom of a nation's historical decline.
Um, I don't agree with them. Any of them, pretty much. Why would I vote for a leftwing platform now when I've consistently rejected the same platform when announced by white men?
Let's be more accurate here, Jacob: Race and only race would be the reason for a hypothetical Obama victory.
Thanks to Slublog.

Let me see if I understand this, Jacob Weisberg... you are telling me I should vote for someone whose policies are anathema to me, because his skin color makes him a better choice for the country. And because I disagree with that, I am a racist.
The fact that people like you actually get paid real money for publishing arguments like that is proof positive that there aren't any of those Halliburton re-education camps like you folks fantasize about.
And racists like you shouldn't be calling people who take their civic duty seriously names, man.

Which I interpret to mean he believes certain of our sorry fellow citizens would finally, at least for a little while, shut the hell up, which would be greatly desired amongst the population as a whole.
Never gonna happen.

The Democratic Party, or at least this fucking idiot Jacob Weisberg, is now terminally infected with a disease called "Psychotic Malicious Retarded Dishonest Fantasy Displacement Syndrome", or as I like to call it, Insanity.
First dickhead who calls me a racist after McCain's classic Reaganesque landslide in November I'll just respond to with: "I didn't mind Obama too much, but I knew some white cracker would probably take him out before his term was complete, and I just couldn't stomach having a complete idiot like Biden running the country." Will love to see the reaction to that response.

TOO HANDSOME, BRILLIANT, and COOL???
(looks at photos of Obama biking, in a swimsuit, in a regular suit)
This idjit looks, talks, and acts like the president of the high school chess club. On what fricking planet is he handsome?? Have all the good-looking men suddenly died? Were Johnny Depp and Denzel Washington in a plane crash together?
Brilliant? Obama talks like a stuttering dolt when the teleprompter's on the blink. It's no measure of brillance to parrot socialist talking points whenever you open your yap.
Cool? COOL? Dear GOD, please tell me that the standards of cool haven't dropped to a subterranean level suddenly. Seriously, if you put Barack Obama and Keith Richards in the same room, where would all the cool be?
Yup, in the same corner as the heroin-addled, chainsmoking, wrinkled old bag of bones is. And no one would even notice where Obama would be at.

I couldn't agree more. Obama's ridiculous politics aside, someone please tell me what makes him so cool? He's such an obviously shallow, glib thinker and political animal, and he's self-conscious and stammering when put on the spot. Yet these childish Moonie liberals act like he's Jules Winnefield in a nicer suit. He's about as cool as Steve Carell's The Office character.

Not if you educate them, like parents should. If 10 people interview for one job, only one can be chosen. The other 9 didn't get an equal opportunity? Of course they did. Equal opportunity means you have the opportunity to fail as well as to win.
...serious attempts to deal with the biggest issues we face: a failing health care system, oil dependency, income stagnation, and climate change.
The health care system isn't failing, it's just expensive. It's expensive because in most cases it provides state-of-the-art treatments unavailable elsewhere on the planet. Do you want that, or do you not want that? Believe me, when you fall ill, you'll want that. But don't tell me you want it but expect someone else to pay for it.
Oil dependency - yes, we're dependent on oil thanks to 40 years of obstructionism and Ludditism by the Left and environmental extremists. It's going to take another 40 years to fix the problem, and we're not going to do it with windmills. Trying to run the world's largest industrial economy on windmills is like trying to power a Nimitz-class aircraft carrier with sails.
Income stagnation - yes, and Obama wants to bring in even more immigrants to undercut wages. And by the way, increasing the population by 50% over the next 40 years through immigration is going to make that goal of solving our energy problems 50% harder. Do you really want to do that? Why?
Climate change? Yes, climate changes. It changed before we got here, and it will change after we're gone. We should take rational steps to improve efficiency of energy use and reduce pollution, and we'll all be happier and healthier, but there's no point in going crazy over it. The primary driver of the climate is the sun, and we frankly don't know enough about the overall climate system to even know what's happening or what to do about it.

Ok, he's got me sold on Barry.
Why didn't Barry pick a black VP, he could have had a two for one deal going, I mean, if we have to vote for Barry based on his skin tone, why not allow us to vote for as many dark skinned people as possible.
It's pretty amazing how the lefties all thseo years proclaimed judgment based on skin color to be so fucking terrible, now they do it.
Yeah, now they do it.

"Typical Blueneck.
Where rednecks cling to their guns, pickups and religion bluenecks cling to their racist delusions, mass-transit and socialism. Both are a bane to our nation's existence and both responsible (though in unequal proportion) for a great deal of our woes. Rednecks don't have the political and academic power that bluenecks do and don't exact a fraction of the societal damage that bluenecks do. If both were to suddenly disappear from the face of the earth, America would just as suddenly become a far better place with a far better future in store."

Hey, Jake. If it's oh so important for you to validate the greatness of this nation by shoveling a black guy into the Oval Office, how about running a black candidate who isn't, you know, a blithering idiot who doesn't even know how many states are in the union? How about a guy whose life accomplishments aren't eclipsed by any kid who's ever run a lemonade stand? How about a guy whose knowledge of American history, foreign policy, and even Constitutional law aren't put to shame by any panel of "academic challenge" competitors? How about a guy whose closest social and political allies aren't militant racists, domestic terrorists, and racketeers? How about a guy not so far to the left of any decent human being on the issue of abortion that Josef Mengele is uncomfortable giving him an endorsement?
Barack "whiter than Andy Dick" Obama would be condemned to a professional ceiling of shuffling paper in a Dunder-Mifflin warehouse if it weren't for his thimble full of African blood. But none of that matters in Jake's world. We must -- MUST -- elect this dangerous, incompetent, ignorant, amoral trainwreck, no matter the consequences, so that all racial divides will be magically eliminated and Jake can finally feeeeeeeel good about a nation that he so clearly despises.
What a sack of worthless shit. Watching Obama lose 40 states -- even if it is to that prick McCain -- is going to be one of the most satisfying experiences of my life. Yeah, there's gonna be riots -- leftism is founded on violence as a natural reaction to not getting one's way -- but at least Jake Weisberg's self-loathing vagina will weep sweet tears.

because

Not a

I want a President who DEFENDS AMERICA,
not one who attacks America.

I'll defend your right to free speech.

Naah, can't be. He's antisemitic, so I doubt he's Jewish.
How do I know he's antisemitic? Easy, I used his logic.
African-Americans were slaves, and oppressed in history; they also have brown skin color. Obama has comparable brown skin color, so not voting for Obama = oppression of people who were once slaves. Obama's ancestry not ever having been slaves is irrelevant to the argument.
Ancestry is irrelevant, only skin color matters. Given this premise, something new and different can be concluded.
McCain is roughly the same color as Jews, who have been oppressed throughout history; and Weisburg here is against McCain. Using the same... well I can't really call it "logic", but whatever... you come to an obvious conclusion.
Opposition to McCain, or support of Obama is pure and blatant antisemitism.
Or something... I'm not good with this brand of "logic". I'm used to the normal logic where words have meaning, and there's cause and effect and rational thought and we aren't completely bastardizing the concept of thought for political gain... but I think I got it "right". (obviously not the usual meaning of "right", but I'm still working with this "logic" that I'm apparently supposed to try to use).

... an Obama victory could mean for America. We would finally be able to see our legacy of slavery, segregation, and racism in the rearview mirror. Our kids would grow up thinking of prejudice as a nonfactor in their lives.
Because we all remember how, when black men rose to power and started running most of the country's large cities (NYC, DC, Philly, Baltimore, Detroit, ...), racism just ceased to exist. It's true -- our inner cities are utopia of racial harmony! Not like those racist motherfuckers in the suburbs. Those guys suck.
