Patterico has the rundown on Senator (for now) Burris', um, evolving, statements on what actions he took on behalf of Blago. Talk about Change!
Meanwhile, even Democrats are starting to talk about investigating Burris and the truthfulness of his testimony before Illinois House of Representatives.
llinois Atty. Gen. Lisa Madigan led a growing chorus of Democratic officials Monday calling for a deeper investigation of U.S. Sen. Roland Burris' explanation about how he was appointed by now-ousted Gov. Rod Blagojevich.Burris has maintained there was nothing inconsistent between his testimony before state lawmakers and a recently filed affidavit outlining more extensive contact with Blagojevich insiders than he had previously disclosed. But Illinois Republicans pressed their call for a perjury investigation by the county prosecutor in Springfield and on Monday, Democrats expressed increasing discomfort over Burris' evolving explanation of efforts to get the seat.
"This is a particularly frustrating revelation," Madigan said of Burris' recent disclosure that he had contact with five Blagojevich insiders. "I encourage the Sangamon County state's attorney to take a closer look at this in the interest of truth, integrity and transparency."
Blago! You magnificent bastard!

He's now a sitting Senator. It's not like he has a freezer full of cash or something.
Keep hope alive. And this story.

as was Madoff...............
The Texas financier accused by the Securities and Exchange Commission Tuesday of massive ongoing fraud was a generous political donor who gave more heavily to Democrats.
Since 2000, R. Allen Stanford, the chief of the Stanford Financial Group in Houston, his wife and company gave $2.2 million in political contributions $1.7 million to Democratic candidates and committees according to Federal Election Commission records.
The most recent donation on record was $300,000 from Stanford Financial Group to the Democratic Governors Association, a so-called 527 group not subject to campaign contribution limits.
Other big beneficiaries included the Democrats congressional campaign committees, which received $1.2 million over the years, and their Republican counterparts, which got $322,000, including a $28,500 personal donation last year to the National Republican Congressional Committee.

Why, he's shown he can make a fine Democrat Senator.
And in a number of stories his and Blago's political party is not mentioned. What a surprize.

I think he stands a good chance of winning if he runs. The morons of Cook County will vote for him. Hell, they elected Blago with the allegations and investigations already in the news. the revrens and their southside flocks vote on pigment. you should have heard the imbeciles on the local news last night.

If this is true, Patrick Fitzgerald is a shithead and an incompetent boob.*
1) Where is he?
2) Why didn't he know about this?
3) If he did know about Burris' shenanigans, why did he allow him to be seated?
*Fitzgerals is a boob. We know this from his prosecution of Scooter Libby for outing a desk-worker at the CIA lying to the grand jury not remembering some stupid shit when grilled by Fitzgerald in front of a bunch of clowns.

I posted this in another thread but it probably works better in this one
Feb. 17 (Bloomberg) -- Congresss approval rating rose 12 percentage points in the last month to 31 percent, the highest level in two years, according to a new poll by Gallup Inc.
The popularity of the Democratic-controlled Congress has more than doubled since July 2008 when only 14 percent of those polled approved of the job lawmakers were doing, according to Gallup.
The jump in Congresss approval rating was spurred by support from Democrats. In the new poll, 43 percent Democrats gave Congress positive reviews, compared with 19 percent of Republicans and 29 percent of independents.

Oh crap. Was that snark? NPR had an expose on snark this morning. Remember, it's snark if you're a conservative blogger, and it's clever irony if it's an accredited journalist on the Huffington Post, DailyKos, Daily Show, etc.
Nuance.

Those tapes must be hella incriminating. Yet again he amends his statement. Another corrupt criminal Democrat caught. Every Dem should be scared shitless that they are on those tapes.
Another historic moment: you really can't swing a dead cat without hitting a corrupt Democrat, leterally

Lisa Madigan, the Illinois attorney general, is the daughter of Michael Madigan, the speaker of the Illinois House of Representatives, and the guy who basically runs the state legislature. Both he and she want to see her become either governor or senator, and sooner rather than later. By the way, if you think Barry is a leftard, wait till you get acquainted with little Lisa: you ain't seen nothin' yet.
Christ, what is it about Cook County? Obama, Blagojevich, Rodham, Emanuel, Burris, Madigan, Jackson ... the list goes on and on. Maybe we should nuke it from orbit: it's the only way to be sure.

"I don't want to pretend that today marks the end of our economic problems. Nor does it constitute all of what we have to do to turn our economy around. But today does mark the beginning of the end, the beginning of what we need to do to create jobs for Americans scrambling in the wake of layoffs," Obama said.

Fitz ended the investigation early so it wouldn't implicate anyone but Blowjobevich. Why not wait until someone made a payoff on the senate seat? The whole damn state is as corrupt as hell.

And maybe his defense fund, if it comes to that. But only if he stays in office. If he gets kicked out of the Senate, he's dead to me.

To know Blagovitch is to love him, the tenticles of corruption he knows about are vast and extend to the highest office in the land..
The new rich man, poor man...white man, black man.
The question remains will Blaogovitch live to spill the beans?
