Pumas to Obam: "Hey, Precious! Fight Your Own Damn Battles"
— Ace

"Psst-- Obama is a weakling. Pass it on."

I've been debating with myself and cobloggers about getting after Obama for his decidedly unmanly whiiiiiiiiining over. Every. God. Damn. Thing.

The PUMAs beat me to it.

Butch up, Nancy. This isn't tea and crumpets with the Ladies Auxilliary. You can't go cryyyyyying to Mama whenever you chip a nail.

News last night from The NY Times, via Riverdaughter, that Obama has run home to Big Sister to plead with her to fight his battle with Saracuda Palin for him. Oh, the poor Precious! Can’t face a tough woman on his own, huh? What’s the matter Barack? Just tell Saracuda that she’s likable enough. Call her a Sweetie and tell the media that she gets moody and bitchy periodically when she’s feeling down. That oughtta work. Or send Sebelius — woo-hoo! I’m sure she can take on Palin and come out of the encounter victorious.

This is why I am absolutely blegging you guys for that Damon Wayans bit where he goes out of his mind dealing with his whiiiiiny son.

But seriously, Princess, if I hear one more time how hurtful it is that someone knocked your part-time job "community organizing" (following the "Rules for Radicals" of Saul Alinsky, and in fact working under an Alisnki protoge), I swear to God I am going to have to put you in a nice sun-dress and take you out dancin'.

Would that make you happy, Becky?

Becks? Bec-Bec?

Don't cry. It's all right.

And speaking of community organizing -- turns out that presidential candidate Iowahawk is a community organizer -- in fact he says he is "America's community organizer community" -- and he's hoppin' mad over Sarah Palin's cheap, sarcastic put-down.

Okay... I took the picture down. Felt a bit Nutroots-ish anyhow.

11 And do I detect a tasty hint of Hillary backlash and MORE McCain votes from PUMAs if she does anything more than token help (maybe that's too much!):

Seattlegirl on 09.05.08 at 11:27 am

First let me say ICK! regarding the picture above and also I am not surprised and thanks for the information. The Dems have a long, long way to go to regain credibility with thinking women. They so don’t get it. And then I have to say I was solidly for Hillary, she was the best candidate, however she doesn’t own my vote or tell me who to vote for. AND I especially do not want to see a prick whipped Hillary on the campaign trail for BO and his band of beta male idiots. No one wants to see that and it is time for BO to stand up and take responsibility for his own future. Besides they will need someone to lead the party after their landslide loss and if Hillary has the stench of loss all over her then who will they go to?

It just gets BETTER. I get the feeling that if Hillary strumps for The Nominee(TM), like a good Party trooper is supposed to do, she's toast.

Gawd, are we ENJOYING rolling in the identity politics sewer or what?

I feel dirty.

Then there was much cackling.....

28 One thing I've noted coming out of all this is that Hillary has, somehow, morphed into an "experienced" candidate.

Compared to Obambi, maybe.  But compared to McCain, or even Palin?  C'mon.  Unless you really count 8 years as First Lady with her one single policy initiative turning into a laughing stock experience.  Otherwise her experience -is- pretty much comparable to Obama's.

45 It's a perfect move for Obama. He gets his two biggest threats--Hillary and Palin--to fight against each other. I suspect the Hillary is too smart to try it. 51 Maxxman -

You're right, that old post is some seriously funny shit.  Obviously my opinion back then looks foolish now, but cut me some slack: the look of this race was COMPLETELY different back then.  I was still assuming Hillary would be the nominee, for chrissakes, a fact which would have probably made McCain choose a different candidate.  I honestly didn't predict how McCain would run rings around Obama in the way he ran his media campaign (those great August ads that turned The One into a celebrity fluffball), nor how he was going to sell himself to America.  Remember, his pitch has changed quite a bit since February: he's no longer running a 'negative' campaign (in the objective sense) that's merely about how Obama sucks.  He turned the McCain/Palin ticket into a honest-to-goodness positive alternative of reform.  And that's the biggest thrill of all.

Additionally, I just didn't know enough about Palin back then.  Objectively speaking, the fact that she lacks a lot of experience is still technically correct -- let's not turn into Obamoid moonbats by trying to claim otherwise -- but I hadn't grasped the reality that the experience she has is still more credible than anything Obama brings to the table.  More importantly, I didn't think we would ever have a chance in hell of SELLING that point to the public, through the media or our own efforts.  It seems we're pulling it off now, and that's a fucking miracle.  And hey, look at the difference between the Palin of that video and the woman we've seen recently.  She was significantly less polished at the time of that video, IMHO.

Finally, check out my comments here from the point where she was announced as the candidate: nobody can accuse me of being anything less than 100% on board.  Sometimes you just don't understand how you'll feel about a candidate, on a gut level, until you experience it.  Like a hell of a lot of people - Ace included - the Palin pick really energized me (to quote The One) "beyond my wildest dreams."

54 >>maxxman at September 05, 2008 07:10 PM (OYeDg) I stand by my statements of 7 months ago. It doesn't matter who McCain runs with, if he wins, we still get McCain. If the all the reports are correct, McCain wanted Lieberman or Ridge and was forced into taking Palin by his advisors and threats of a meltdown at the convention. There's a reason 90% of us didn't like, forget about wouldn't vote for, McCain a few months ago. Palin seems great, but if McCain wins you better hope you have your fill of her by Nov. 4. You won't be seeing much of her after that unless some world leader dies.

No way in hell Maverick would not have said, "fuck you all, I like Joe and he's my wingman" if he really wanted him. No, he really wanted to win the goddamned election, and I really think he wants to beat Barack Obama's ass badly Those two things are not inconsistent. McCain could have wanted Lieberman or Ridge, which I absolutely believe he did given that they are two of his best friends from the Senate, and also knowing it would have demonstrated to a large part of the electorate that he was "willing to reach out his hand to anyone that would help me". But he also could have come to realize, through constant beatings from his advisors, pro-life leaders, conservative leaders, etc. that if he did it he risked losing the core of his party and any shot at the election. Or you can believe that McCain picked somebody he had met once before, who, what ever we want to say about it, has very little experience and doesn't match up with him ideologically and temperamentally nearly as well as say, Tom Ridge. I don't doubt McCain ultimately picked her to help him win. That's why candidates chose VP's, to help them win by shoring up weaknesses either electorally or resume wise. Look how excited the conservative and Independent woman are about a campaign they has at best lukewarm interest in a week ago. Mission accomplished. But it doesn't mean McCain really wanted to do this, has changed his views on policy or the office of the VP, a position he has stated has two requirements, attending funerals and asking daily about the health of the president.

So if Obambi is really crying to Hillary for help, she is in a quandary.

1) She can be a good Dem soldier and come out swinging for Bambi; the downside being, this makes him look like even more of a pussy, sinking the ticket.

2) She tells Obama to fuck off; 'you wanted Joe Biden, well- you got 'im, Skippy'. McCain/Palin continues climb in the polls.

Either option helps clear the way for open Dem nomination in '12. Which is what she wants.

My guess is she splits the difference (always triangulating) and does some half-assed, 'satisfies the minimum required' campaigning.

80 "Palin seems great, but if McCain wins you better hope you have your fill of her by Nov. 4. You won't be seeing much of her after that unless some world leader dies." JackStraw, you're correct, but the way I look at it, McCain is offering me a wager, and that wager is that one of those funerals Palin will be attending won't be his. I'm willing to take that bet. I'm not just voting against Hedley Lamar, I'm voting for Saracuda.

81 Yeah, sorry about the name signing thing, but when you've been doing the innertubes since the BBS software code that could autosign your posts for you was considered too much of a memory hog, well, old habits die hard.

83 ... He [Obama] told Kellman that he feared community organizing would never allow him "to make major changes in poverty or discrimination." To do that, he said, "you either had to be an elected official or be influential with elected officials." In other words, Obama believed that his chosen profession was getting him nowhere, or at least not far enough. Personally, he might end up like his father; politically, he would fail to improve the lot of those he was trying to help. And so, Obama told Kellman, he had decided to leave community organizing and go to law school. Kellman, who was already thinking of leaving organizing himself, found no reason to argue with him. "Organizing," Kellman tells me, as we sit in a Chicago restaurant down the street from the Catholic church where he now works as a lay minister, "is always a lost cause." Obama, circa late 1987, might or might not have put it quite that strongly. But he had clearly developed serious doubts about the career he was pursuing.

Metro-boy has never been in a real campaign before.

His run for state legislator included his team challedging every Dem petition in the primary and got enough signatures on each one to have them thrown off the ballet.

His run for senate had his people first open the sealed divorce record of his Dem opponant.  He then dropped out.  Then his people got the sealed divorce records of his Repub opponenat opened, John Ryan - he was married to Jeri Ryan (7 of 9, looked like a 9 in her outfits on Star Trek). He dropped out of the race.

Now he is in the big leagues with no experience whatsoever.  His managers were shrewed enough to force the issue on the caucases before anybody knew who he was.  Then he had Hilary and her supporters attacked for being women.  He was just barely able to hang on with the MSM sucking on his ass the whole way.  It was a pretty easy primary.

Now he's in an actual campaign against an old WARHORSE.  McCain just out-manuevered him during the conventions and he is clueless about what to do when his path isn't strewn with rose petals.

He has to get his balls back from Michelle if he wants to get through this with a reputation as a man.  I hope he continues to feel pain until the Dems cut out his heart and eat it for fucking up this election.
