I think Pixy, the hamster and McGuiver have to get together with a straight pen, some flat soda and a mirror and perform complicated quantum phsyics to get the clock set right.

Throw in the fact that you have a 4 year old who probably went trick or treating and you now have enough candy to last at least till Easter when, right on cue, you have......more candy.

I think my neighborhood went into hibernation this year.
Ours actually had a significant increase. Part of it is that younger families are moving into the neighborhood. Of course, that meant that our housing values have dropped about 25% over the last few years. But it was nice to see a bunch of Moms and Dads walking around the neighborhood with the kids. My youngest is 11 (and he is 5'1'', so it is not like he is a "little" kid) and it reminds you of their early years.

Halloween was the one day of the year I didn't like living in a border town. But other people posted yesterday about similiar things, so I guess the holiday just ain't what it used to be. Back on the border, we would get hundreds of people. Here there are usually lots of people and a big police presence. But the police were checking id and only letting residents back in here since Thursday, so...
Oh, everyone back in Del Rio was always perfectly well behaved. I just never knew what to think about kids without costumes and even adults with no costumes and no kids with them...wtf?? I'll give you a piece or two of candy, but...why??

Your neighborhood really has some strange Halloween decorations, that's for sure. It looks like that house was decorated as Dorothy's house in the "Wizard of Oz". On another note, however; has anyone else had trouble posting comments? It seems every time I post, my computor freezes up.
Posted by: Iamnotanalcoholic at November 01, 2009 03:34 AM (Qvb3o)
A lot of our neighbors just decided to get everyone in the vicinty together, start a fire out in the driveway and pass out candy there. Nice for the little kids, only have to hit one house to get 3 or 4 done in one shot. Also nice for the parents with the little ones who wind up carrying them a half a block or so when the 3 and 4 year olds tucker out and want to be carried. Usually had an extra chair or 2 so Mom and Dad could sit down, warm up by the fire and get off their feet for a few minutes.
Guess it is nice to still live in a neighborhood the resembles America.

From Breitbart:
It was not your usual night at 1600 Pennsylvania Avenue Saturday, with the White House lit up pumpkin-orange and thousands of little ghosts and goblins trick-or-treating the president of the United States.
First Lady Michelle Obama by his side -- playing her part as a purring Cat Woman clad in an orange-and-black leopard print top, fuzzy ears and black eyeshadow -- Obama stayed in more presidential character, wearing slacks, a checkered shirt and a black sweater.
Obama was heard wishing several of the children -- most ages six to 14 -- a simple "Happy Halloween" as he doled out packets of candy and dried fruit bearing the presidential seal, while one toddler burst out crying in his father's arms when he saw the president.
A member of Obama's cabinet, Susan Rice, took the opportunity to stray from her ultra-serious role as US ambassador to the United Nations by dressing up as the Disney character Goofy.
And assuming what many would consider -- or at least hope -- a darker role than his usual job in the Obama administration, White House spokesman Robert Gibbs suited up as Darth Vader from the movie "Star Wars."
There was no immediate word on who was dressed as the film's Wookie character Chewbacca, or the Stormtrooper, both of whom stood near Obama as he greeted trick-or-treaters.

Thoughts on Rush/Wallace:
Wallace was generally hostile, this was just as I expected. Wallace could not believe Rush voted for McLame. Tried to get an answer on a BS comparison of congressional republican ratings to Obama ratings. Rush should have thrown this straw man back in his face. He didnt handle it very well. On Rush new contract, how can you possibly be worth that kind of money? One wonders if he ever asked that of any sports figure he had on the show?
Speaking of the sports issue he discussed the Rush lockout in the NFL team buyout (mostly with loaded questions). He passed up a great opportunity to get into the Obama team interference in that Rush deal. Rush blamed his lockout on a series of lies by the former Obama team man who is the head of the player union now. He said that he threatened or implied that the Obama WH would get involved and take over if a lockout occurred by the players and that they needed to play ball on the Rush thing. Wallace blew right by that obvious raging controversy. Normally ANY news organization thrives on controversy and that was a great big hanging curve ball of a controversy begging to be hit out of the park. To me that is a smoking gun on bias by Wallace.
On the NY-23 issue they had a brief thing with Commie Carl and he pushed the religious right interference meme once again. Major Garret followed up on that with the conservatives thwarted an obvious effort by Obama to take this region by pulling the Republican to Army secretary meme. Needless to say, I believe the M.G. meme is more accurate.
Later the panel discussed it briefly, I was surprised by the Mara Irason(?) view on the subject. For a liberal, her point of view was the most balanced I have heard.

During the day Saturday, she began to quietly and thoughtfully encourage her supporters to vote for Democrat William L. Owens.
All I can say is WOW, that puts it all in perspective to all of those assholes who tried to make her out to be a hero. That includes Commie Carl Cameron who on FNS said that her resignation was done to prevent the interference by the religious right from giving the election to the Dems. (Words to that effect).
He made her out to be a real hero. What are the betting odds that she will switch parties soon. After that, what are the betting odds that we will even hear about it?
I would say high odds on the former and low odds on the latter.

I don't think Wallace was hostile at all. I think he did his very best to seem balanced and his tone wasn't aggressive although he pushed for answers to his questions. Rush of anybody in the world isn't going to have a problem answering questions and there is NO possiblity of him getting caught in a flip-flop or hypocritical statement. Just from listening to Rush as often as I do, I could answer Wallace's questions as Rush would answer them before he answered. They seemed straight forward.
The money question was designed to defend capitalism. Rush is worth however much people are willing to pay for him. It's a basic principle of supply and demand. Duh--lefties want to know the answer and the answer is he brings in more money than that in advertising, enought to give Clear Channel a profit and pay him too. He said he earns a percentage--he essentially works on commission and is "ahead" of schedule.
The difference between Wallace and anyone else in the media is that Wallace gave Rush a forum to say that Obama's guy was responsible for the NFL fiasco and not anything that Rush has said or done. He was able to make the statement. Wallace didn't need to ask more questions there. The Obama involvement is obvious and pernicious.
The NY 23 debacle is typical of the Rino meme. The Republicans had better get a clue and understand that they cannot win without the religious right. Run buttholes like Snowe, Scozzaflava, and McCain and they will lose.
I'm more pissed at the comment section of the Watertown News where they insist that Hoffman will hurt upper NY by not taking as much govt money as Dede would. Then they bash Christians. I'm betting the commentors are NY lefties from the city.
Wallace is now on Fox and Friends suggesting that people will be offended by Rush saying that Obama isn't supporting the troops in the field and going to Dover is a photo-op. Basically, he is promoting his interview for later viewing.
The news is still a business for the time being. Fox at least is making money.

My neighborhood, and the reason for getting only 4 groups of trick-or-treaters. Hmm, I can't link directly to page 2, where it talks about why the house in the pic looks the way it does.
Traffic was really backed up on Thursday night due to the fire hoses running across Benton Road. I got caught in the jam on the way home from work and saw the damage the following morning. It looks as if the same tornado/high winds hit Airline in a couple of spots, too.

I thought he was, compared to other people he interviews. Opinions differ you have yours, I have mine.
On the Obama Dover photo-op, there is a person in the country that doesnt know that his visit there was a bit of disgusting grandstanding BS. Not only is he a disgusting crapweasel (Ill refrain from being more obscene) for using a flag draped coffin for political cover, but he is also a a disgusting %(*&^&*& for keeping the troops in there longer to be killed to give him a chance to arrange political cover for pulling them out.
He already knows he intends to surrender and pull out. He is just looking for a fig leaf. I have personally been through this kind of crap before and I have no words to express adequately my disgust for this AH.

If you live in Arizona you don't have to put up with this "Spring ahead, Fall back" crap twice a year.
No, but you have to fall on your sword every day because McLame is your Senator.

It doesn't save any power, it doesn't help traffic, it doesn't do anything but cost a billion man-hours a year compensating for it.
It's the ideal government program - all cost, no benefit, endless distraction and it's practically effortless for the politicians, and practically impossible to get rid of because enough people can't perform simple mathematical calculations or observe that the "extra" time doesn't actually exist to keep the idiocy going.

Greenacres Place is a really nice neighborhood and we're considerably north of there. I'm glad you made it through the night, the damage could have been a lot worse. We were lucky and didn't lose power but I had brought home Wendy's in case we had. The dead stop lights didn't help Airline's traffic and I sure felt nervous for the cops standing out there in all that lightning.
