President Obama decides a nice holiday weekend with Klingonesque wife is more important than saving the world from certain financial meltdown (chad)
— Open Blog

After weeks of pushing congress to pass his "economic stimulus" package immediately, in order to avoid the inevitable financial meltdown inaction would bring, President Obama has decided to delay signing the bill until Tuesday so he can enjoy a weekend home in Chicago with his wife M'chel Michelle.

Un-Freakin' Believable. This bill had to be printed in the middle of the night and be voted on the next day before anyone could actually read it because it was so freakin' important, but the savior can't take 5 freakin' seconds out of his schedule to sign the damn thing.

Good to know our President has the best interest of the country at heart.

On the plus side he thinks Air Force One is a "spiffy ride" so I guess that makes up for everything.

Clarification: I don't want him to sign the bill it's just that his selfish irresponsibility burns my ass.

Nothing the Obama's do surprise me.  I knew this was going to happen, I'm just waiting for the rest of the country to catch on, which may not happen since most of them were educated in our public school system.  I am a graduate of that system, but I also was an avid reader and expanded my knowlege base.

4 So, instead of criticizing him for taking so many vacations (remember the way they treated the Bush vacations?) the feisty press joins in and yaks about how cool Air Force One is!

Well, I'm glad they're having fun.

7 What's the hurry for him?
He got what he wanted.
This has been a litmus test to find out if he will have any trouble passing anything.
Face it, if we couldn't stop this massive sodomy rape, what can we stop?
Anyone like the looks of the new gun bill looming on the horizon, because i bet we can't stop that shit either.

This is what... 4 weeks of him in office?
only 200 more weeks more of this crap and the chance for 50 more other pieces of legislation equal to this unless something DRASTIC happens in 2010 elections.

I say more vacations the The Messiah and his staff! In fact, I think all our legislators should go on a four year vacation!

We need to start being proactive in every election that we have the opportunity to vote in.  Everything from city council to Senator or Representative.  Start sending a message, however small, that we are out here and we are paying attention.  How many of you know people who voted for Obama who are now second guessing themselves?

I know whenever I want to get on the good side of my new pilot, I tell him he's "right out of central casting." Try saying that to Old Clean & Articulate, see where it gets you. Shit, that would even piss Sully off, and he's...well, you might say he's the new central casting.

23 I'd like to start a list of all the "conservatives" who voted for or otherwise supported this lickspittle of a jug-eared tyrant. I'd like to tar and feather them, but substituting tar with superglue, and feathers with steel wool. For a comfortable fit. Christopher Buckley Kathleen Parker David Brooks David Frum (I leave out Powerglutes as he falls under the heading of "lunatic.) Any others? I also propose adding those "conservatives" who, while not endorsing or voting for Lord Unicorn McMussolini, felt obliged to give the single-horned One a hearty handshake and wishes for his success in office, post-election... while scolding the rest of us who were and are unwilling to give him any more respect than our opponents gave Bush. George Will Bill Bennett William Kristol Charles Krauthammer Larry Kudlow Hugh Hewitt Any others? I hope all of the above will enjoy the taste of the One's boots over the years, as they will be forced to "temper" their opinions of Him in order to keep their paychecks and public visibility.

Dear American liberals, leftists, social progressives, socialists, Marxists, Communists, et al (not much difference in any of you):

We have stuck together since the late 1950s, but the whole of this latest election process has made me realize that I want a divorce. I know we tolerated each other for many years for the sake of future generations, but sadly, this relationship has run its course. Our two ideological sides of
America cannot and will not ever agree on what is right, so let's just end it on friendly terms. We can smile; slate it up to irreconcilable differences, and go on our own ways.

Here is a model dissolution agreement:

Our two groups can equitably divide up the country by landmass each taking a portion. Or better yet, you take the counties won by the voters that elected BHO in 2008, we will take what's left. That should not be too difficult, and I am sure our two sides can come to a friendly agreement.

After that it should be relatively easy! Our respective representatives can effortlessly divide other assets since both sides have such distinct and disparate tastes. We don't like redistributive taxes so you can keep them. You are welcome to all the liberal judges and the ACLU.

Since you hate guns and think guns cause crime, we'll take all firearms, the police, the NRA, and the military. You can keep Oprah, Michael Moore, and Rosie O'Donnell (you are however, responsible for finding a bio-diesel vehicle big enough to move them).

We'll keep the capitalism, your hated greedy corporations, pharmaceutical companies, Wal-Mart, Wall Street and ANWAR. You can have your beloved homeless, hippies, and illegal aliens. We'll keep Alaskan Hockey Moms, most CEO's, and Rednecks. We'll keep the Bibles and you can have ABC, CBS, CNN, NBC, Entertainment Tonight, and
Hollywood.

You can make nice with
Iran, Palestine, and al-Qaida, and we'll retain the right to invade places that threaten or harm us or our allies. You can have the peaceniks and war protestors. When our allies or way of life are under assault, we'll provide them job security.

We'll keep our Judeo-Christian Values. You are welcome to Islam, Scientology, Humanism, and Shirley McClain. You can keep the United Nations, however we will no longer be paying the bill. We'll keep SUVs, pickup trucks, and luxury cars. You can have every Subaru Station Wagon you can find.

You can banter health care is a right and give it to everyone, if you can find any practicing doctors like Howard Dean if they'll donate their time and do it for free. We'll continue to believe healthcare is an individual responsibility and more important than spending all of ones money on lifestyle.

We'll keep 'The Battle Hymn of the Republic' and the 'National Anthem'. I'm sure you'll be happy to substitute 'Imagine', 'I'd Like to Teach The World To Sing', 'Kum Ba Ya', or 'We Are the World'.

We'll practice trickle down economics, and you can continue to give trickle up poverty your best shot.

Since it often so offends you, we'll keep our History, our Name, and our Flag.

Would you agree to this? If so please pass it along to other likeminded patriots, and if you do not agree just hit delete and hang on.

In the spirit of friendly parting, I'll bet you ANWAR, on who will be crying for whose help in less than four years because you will need both ANWAR and our help.

Sincerely,
An American Patriot

PS. You can keep the imposter now sitting in the White House also. We will elect a natural born U.S. citizen as the Constitution requires since you no longer value or respect it.

35 In other D'O! news, Teh One has refused to keep the bust of Winston Churchill that was loaned to GWB by the British government as a sign of Anglo-American friendship after 9/11.

The bronze by Sir Jacob Epstein, worth hundreds of thousands of pounds if it were ever sold on the open market, enjoyed pride of place in the Oval Office during President Bush's tenure.

But when British officials offered to let Mr Obama to hang onto the bust for a further four years, the White House said: "Thanks, but no thanks." . . . .

The rejection of the bust has left some British officials nervously reading the runes to see how much influence the UK can wield with the new regime in Washington.

39 Not only does he delay signing this “super emergency, gotta have it right now or the world ends and there's no time to read it” bill until Tuesday, he's going to sign it here in Denver. Fire up Air Force 1 and head west. We all know that doesn't cost anything. Want to bet that he brings along his entire entourage of trained monkeys that control the House and Senate? Style over substance—thy name is Obama.

Posted by: Zardoz at February 15, 2009 08:26 AM (7ato4)

40 #29 Absolutely. This is becoming very clear. I was never sure if Obastard was either an overweening proto-Marxist or a man-child demanding to fly the airplane, while the adults manage the controls behind his back. I think it's the latter. Given his brave record of voting "present" one would think he's more interested in strutting like a pimp than delivering the bird. Perhaps Pelosi is the real President now. I think Obastard is like a familiar character in some movies, the dimwitted youthful king who lets his corrupt ministers run rampant over the realm.

91 @51 & 57:

I am as appalled (but not surprised) by Obama and his actions as everyone else, but there is no need to bring his blackness into it, which you seem to equate with being ghetto.  (@51, that video was hilarious, except for the end.)

Obama is a corrupt, lying and uncouth politician, but he is not at all similar to your stereotype of ghetto (and perhaps inferior to #57) black people.  As hard as it may be for some people to believe, there are really black folk (such as myself) who are decent, normal non-ghetto people.

Let's attack Obama on his actions and statements.  Believe me, he has given us plenty to work with.  But there is no need to bring his race into this in this fashion.  It's one thing to call him an affirmative action president because there is truth to that since a lot of folks didn't even know jack about him but just wanted to elect the first black president (foolish MSM, I'm looking at you).  But he has never acted like an inner-city gangster -- in fact, he is quite "white-bread" and was apparently not raised in any black neighbourhoods (which is why I think his accent is fake) -- so there's no need to go there.

$750 billion for the Banks = not enough

800 billion to "stimulate" the economy = not enough

it will never be enough, it's not a lack of currency that is the problem it's a lack of trust and confidence in the government, so what do they do? run around acting like complete and utter incompetent fools!

106 Right on #91 -

Use of racial overtones in criticizing Obama is both ignorant and counterproductive, giving Obama a ready-made race card to pull in his defense.   Obama has provided tons of ammo to criticize his contradictory and frankly incompetent "leadership" in the stimulus bill passage.  The focus should be there, his bumbling leadership style and violation of the "net spending cut" pledge of the debates, not on race.

108 Aye, if one questions his policies or political tactics then you could be labeled as a racist or hate-monger.  Barry is the best POTUS that Acorn and Hollywood money can buy.  I've got no problem with a politician that wants to use Lincoln as a role model, that's commendable, however when he arbitrarily compares himself to Lincoln all the time before even taking office I just have to wonder where he scores on the arrogance meter.  If anyone, and I mean anyone told me 2.5 years ago that Obama would be POTUS I would have told them they were out of their mind.  I probably could have tolerated Hillary-style liberal government, but the false prophet in chief has me "girding my loins".....

134 I think those of you who wish to ignore the racial aspect of the worship for Lord Unicorn had better get used to the taste of sand in your mouths, because that's where your heads are resting. With all the race-baiting thrown at conservatives over the last twenty or more years, race has become a political fact of life. Political correctness is killing discourse, and until we are no longer afraid of mockery and words, we will lose. Bank on it. No one, and I mean no one, on this site thinks our particular discourse is fit for every audience. At the same time, no one here wants to censor themselves with the keen edge of political correctness. That's the purpose of this place, so it seems. Of course Barry doesn't look or sound like an African-American person of disadvantaged means, unable to rise above his surroundings because the System has given him no hope. But he does act like a thug, politically. Look at how he has won every election prior to this one. Look at whom he has co-opted to give him "street cred" in Chicago in his early years. Don't tell me these people aren't racists. Has anyone here been offended by citing stereotypes of white hick hillbillies? Of lesbians? Of Christians? Mockery is part of the hexadecimal code at AOSHQ, unless I'm very much mistaken. And I will feel free to launch mockery towards our Fascist Overlord Unicorn at all times. When he and his ilk have taken power largely due to taking advantage of liberal guilt over race, is it not denying reality to ignore this fact? And when I make reference to this fact, why should I or anyone feel constrained to mock the vapidity and cunning of politics based on liberal white guilt? I'm not going around calling O the n-word. I am going around calling him Huggy Bear because 1. Huggy Bear was a pretentious clown pretending to be the Coolest Guy on the street 2. Huggy Bear was ineffectual and a tool Barry is 1. A pretentious clown pretending to be the Coolest Guy on the Capitol Mall 2. Ineffectual and a tool of Nancy Pelosi and Harry Reid I can't think of a milder way to make mocking reference to Barry's racial politics than Huggy Bear. Get a grip, people. Let's not stumble ourselves over political correctness, at least not until Barry forces it upon us by statue. Coming soon, perhaps.

I think he is a shill with enough arrogance that makes him think he is not a shill.  I knew we were in trouble when he caused all of the trouble in the meeting with Bush, McCain, Piglosi pre-TARP 1.  They said it all broke down as soon as he opened his mouth.  But, I contend that Piglosi is the real danger, here.  We can shoot our mouths out about Obama as much as we want, but we would all be better off if Piglosi gets unelected in 2010 or removed as Speaker of the House.  Her absolute arrogance is way beyond Obambi's.  You know all of those men in Congress talk about her behind her back and the women do the same (probably worse name calling than on this blog).

He may not show ghetto attributes, but he certainly does posses gangster attributes. He comes from the Chicago political machine after all, which is a form of organized crime unto it's own. Of course judging by the whole Blagojevich debacle one could call it dis-organized crime.

158 @136: Sparky,  I think the original #57 was deleted.  The poster had a link to a picture of some blackface goblin on someone's lawn.  I wasn't referring to your post, which I 100% agree with.

Seems I stirred up a hornet's nest.  I wasn't trying to tell anyone what to say or think, just expressing my opinion.

Back on topic, I have another description of Obama -- lazy.  As usual, Rush was right about Obama.  He is more interested in playing President than actually being president, going around and lecturing everyone.  Talk about a micromanager, trying to tell CEOs what to do when he's hasn't ever had a job-job for any significant amount of time, much less any experience in their industries.

I am not surprised at anything he is doing because I think most of us here knew these things about him before he won.  I'm just surprised at all the crap crammed into such a short time span.

I really couldn't get my head around the fact that the congresscritters were just going to ram this immorality of a "stimulus" bill down our throats with no thought given to the consequences.  This is America, after all, I thought.  But then I remembered that in my native land, we actually expect politicians to lie and not care about the consequences of their actions, as long as they got what they wanted.  Then it all made sense to me -- these kinds of people exist all over the world, and Obama, Nancy Pelosi and Harry Reid are just some of them.  This is why they want to completely ignore the great document called the Constitution, which would keep them in check.  The only difference is that our press is quite fearless about criticizing any politician, unlike the boot-licking MSM here (for which they should be ashamed).

AQC, it's almost impossible to avoid the subject of race when discussing The One, for the simple reason that his race is why he is where he is. If Obama were white, he'd still be a low-level wardheeler on Chicago's South Side, if that. But Obama is a black who doesn't particularly act "black": his features aren't strikingly African, he's not terribly dark, and, most importantly, his speech and accent are those of an educated white person. In plantation days, he'd have been the butler in the Big House, because he makes powerful whites feel comfortable. The white liberal establishment promoted Obama for just that reason: because he makes them feel good about themselves.

Those among us morons who attack blacks for Obama are insulting our brother and sister conservatives who are black. I would no more link them to Obama than I would someone to link me to Teddy Kennedy just because we're both white.

164 No one thinks Mitch McConnell should go into the well of the Senate and call Barry the "affirmative action President," or anything more acerbic. But the world of discourse and opinion is broad, and everyone has his place in it. I've always thought AOSHQ was a place where choice current news items run ruinously afoul of ruthless mockery. No one here thinks Barry's skin color has anything to do with what decisions he can make. No one here intelligent thinks that Barry's skin color didn't have an overarching role in his ascendancy to position of First Overlord. It is an inescapable political fact and we have to address it in order to blunt it. ---- #158 Back on topic, I have another description of Obama -- lazy. As usual, Rush was right about Obama. He is more interested in playing President than actually being president, going around and lecturing everyone. Talk about a micromanager, trying to tell CEOs what to do when he's hasn't ever had a job-job for any significant amount of time, much less any experience in their industries. You are 100% drop dead correct.

165 For evil to succeed all it takes is for good men to do nothing.
The tragedy of George Bush not being forceful on anything other than the war led to the Democrat victory in 2006 which has greased the wheels for this disaster. He could never articulate a reason to support his vision (whatever that was).
I liked him, but his passivity and fear of appearing partisan has in part led to the election of this person and these majorities  in Congress.
And I wonder if the wheel will turn again?

167 Obama doesn't have any characteristics I would associate with ghetto behavior. Joe Biden told us as much. Obama would never have come close to the nomination if he had any ghetto vibe. The occasional, mild preacher cadence he gets into when speaking to some audiences is something he must have picked up along the way, but it is not as natural a part of him as his typical college professor/corporate presentation manner. I just don't see it. As much as I disagree with his policies, he still strikes me as likable and non-threatening. And I don't think AQC is trying to tell anyone what not to post; but instead is just pointing out that painting Obama with a ghetto stereotype is unfair and just plain inaccurate.

I want a fucking timetable of when this stimulus is going to work and create 4 million fucking jobs.

You left out the most important two words in Obama's claim about "his" "stimulus" plan. He claims that this obscenity will create or save 4 million jobs.

Thus, in 3 years, barring the unlikely scenario of there being less than 4 million people employed in the whole country he can claim success in saving 4 million jobs.  How on earth could anybody prove or disprove that any particular job that someone was not laid off from was a result of Obama's policies?

What has me worried is the 4 million figure.  How pear shaped do they anticipate this thing to go if they have to come up with a low-ball figure like 4 million to give them adequate space for CYA?

197 His running home to Chicago reminded me of something: On the news this week they had a report about the security measures taking place to protect the Obamas when they grace Chicago with their presence: 3-block lockdown around his mansion, residents have to show ID at checkpoints to even get into the neighborhood, etc. Some kid they interviewed thought it was "cool" to live so close to the pres until all this happened; he seemed a little jaded now. I always thought compounds like what the Kennedys and the Bushes retreated to seemed overdone, but totally get it now. At least at an isolated place like Crawford, Bush wasn't giving the secret security hives protecting him and wasn't bothering the daily flow and lives of city residents. (Like The One cares.) Though if all this residential hassle is causing inconvenience for fellow Chicago neighbors Ayers and Farrakahn, bring it on I say. =) 'Cause in my mind, that evens out the karma of the universe somehow. Oh, and they went on about how he is the first "Urban" president we have had and how cool that is. Wha? I agree Chicago's a big city and he has a home there, but didn't past presidents like Clinton and Bush also live in and run big cities as well? Screw him being the first. They made it sound like he lives next to a crackhouse or something, when I know his little mansion is quite removed from the Chicago grit. It's like living near Dupont Circle in DC and claiming you are urban; you sound like a fool. And I thought he grew up a poor rural boy with his grandma, newspeople? Oh, you pick what image of the president you want depending on the story? Thanks newspeople! Hope the pres is paying you enough! Speaking of which, what perks are in the bailout for journalists anyway?

Well, now that someone who is so obviously "one their own" is in charge:

The ability to keep on ignoring that tiny niggling voice in their heads that tells them that despite their fetishization of pedigree and meaningless credentialism, the degrees that they earned from"respected" institutions in return for unthinkingly acquiescing to tired dogmas have conferred upon them neither wisdom nor the respect of those they secretly still believe to be their "social betters" or openly deride as their "intellectual inferiors".

200 I meant actual monetary perks, but thanks you guys for the eloquence. Because as has been detailed by the poor journalists ad nauseum they are suffering in these tough economic times as well, and surely once a lapdog performs its tricks Obama should throw it a bone or two, right? I'm sure they feel as entitled to money as the arts does.

Obama is all about "I won" power. He got the bill passed and now he's going to sign it in his own sweet time because the delay will show who has the power.

Posted by: Anonymous 12.15.09 at February 15, 2009 03:55 PM (k13qn)

202 LizLemon,

I really don't think that there is much in this bill by way of monetary perks for journalists or news organizations.  They are simply not necessary.  Why buy the cow, and all that.

Journalism has never really been about making money per se.  In the days of the newspaper, journalists were paid a pittance to provide copy to keep the revenue generating ads from bumping into each other.

Even in the "golden age" of Murrow et al, the news division was never viewed as a profit center by the networks.  It's always been sort of a vanity project to feed corporate egos as they competed for ratings and perceived "credibility" while graciously providing an important community service.

I guess in the old days a journalist might have chosen that line of work despite the poor pay because he was curious about his fellow man, the world or whatever and figured that was a good way to subsidize his habits (and a lot easier on the back than stoop labor).

Now, journalists like to tell themselves that they serve an important function by "speaking truth to power" or some such rot they are fed in J-School.  In order to subsidize their need to FEEL IMPORTANT they take a low paying gig in the news business and act like cut-rate Solons rather than take the chance of competing in the real economy.

203 I have been watching this god forsaken doofus since 2007.  Everytime he makes a slight exertion he needs to check into a hospital or take a few days off to recuperate.  Now he plans on vacationing in Chicago every 6 weeks.......what the heck is wrong with him?  I think it is a physical illness (notice his ashen looks prior to his vacations).  There is something seriously wrong with him.  Remember all the treatments Kennedy had behind closed doors?   I think this guy has some similar problems that need rest and treatment.
