— Ace Whatever her name is.
Former NY Governor George Pataki has long had hopes of running for the presidency, but the knock on him was always that he was too moderate -- or liberal -- for the national GOP. So what's this?
As someone personally engaged in the way of life in the Adirondacks and Northern New York, Im deeply concerned about the course of our nation and the outcome of the election in the 23rd Congressional District.Simply put, we cannot afford to give another vote to Nancy Pelosi and Harry Reid we cannot afford another vote for higher taxes, we cannot afford another vote for government run health care and we absolutely cannot afford another vote to take away from hard working men and women the right to secret ballot.
That is why tonight, Im proud to endorse Doug Hoffman, a Republican, running on the Conservative line for Congress in the 23rd Congressional District.
Doug Hoffman will stand up to Nancy Pelosi and Harry Reid. He will fight for all the residents of northern New York. He will fight for our proud servicemen and women at Fort Drum, our dairy farmers in Lowville and our manufacturers in Plattsburgh.
As a businessman, and as a life-long resident of the North Country Doug Hoffman understands the need to lower taxes on working families, the need to stand tall against terror and he wont back phony stimulus programs that fail to create the jobs we need and leaves a mountain of debt to our children.
When elected to Congress Doug will work to reduce our taxes, he will stand tall against those who despise our freedoms and he will be a vigilant stalwart against those who would substitute government programs for individual initiative.
And Doug Hoffman can win.
I urge all the voters of the 23rd Congressional District Republican Democrat, Independent and Conservative to come out and vote for Doug Hoffman for Congress.
Politico notes that old Pataki aides are helping out Scozzofava -- so he must be pretty sold on Hoffman, or know that Scozzofava has no chance. Or both.
Newt Gingrich just emailed me to say that George Pataki should leave New York state politics to New Yorkers, such as himself.
Meanwhile, Markos Zippittydoodah or whatever his name is (damn these inconveniently named ethnic-types) is walking back his endorsement of Scozzofava.
The reason seems to be his cute endorsement has backfired, and he's being blamed for the rise of Hoffman.
Previously, after detailing the various reasons why Scozzofunstuff would be a superior Representative to Democrat Owens, Kos wrote:
...So it's official, I'm rooting for the Republican to win.
Which he now says was not, in fact, an endorsement:
I have no love for the Democrat, Owens, and I clearly have no love for Scozzafava in that post, so only an idiot would construe that as an "endorsement". An endorsement implies love for the candidate being endorsed. I wish nothing but ill will for all candidates in this race. But the GOP is full of idiots, and they've run strong with it, making my "endorsement" part of their anti-Scozzafava narrative. And now we're in a situation in which the conservative candidate Doug Hoffman has a real chance of performing better than the Republican.
When that fails to convince:
So I'm no longer rooting for a Scozzafava victory. That gets us nothing. And I'm not rooting for a Hoffman victory, and I'm certainly not rooting for Owens because I'm over Lieberdems.I'll leave it to others to try and squeeze out my "endorsement" from that steaming pile of dog s--t.
But I'm rather pleased I've been used to attack Scozzafava by the likes of Club for Growth and Glenn Beck. Such mischief is almost Rovian!
Well, Rove's last bit of mischief was to lose the 2006 midterms.
Is that the "Rovian mischief" Kos has in mind here?
Ah: Pataki well-covered last night by Slublog.
This is not a repost. This is a recontextualization.
Dicks!

I've never met a hard leftist who wasn't nasty, angry, a twerp, and generally unhappy.
That is because they are so smart and in tune with the earth that they see all the unjustice, misfortune and misery that we simpletons miss.
So, Makos, keep letting everyone know how bad the world is.

Funny how Time, the water-carriers for Obama, are making budget cuts and layoffs. If they believe Obama's economic policies are so great and successful, why don't they mortgage all their assets, increase their budget, and hire more people?
I mean, if it's such a winning formula for prosperity, why not do it? Huh, assholes at Time, why don't you do it?

This was the most fatuous part of that little screed:
An endorsement implies love for the candidate being endorsed.
No wonder the left treats Obama like the Messiah--they've equated rational assessment of a candidate's positions with irrational romantic feelings of devotion.
An endorsement, in the non-emotionally and intellectually stunted world, implies that you've studied the candidate's position on various issues, those stances fall into line with your own views more than the other candidates, and you feel that overall, that candidate will perform their duties competently while in office. Love shouldn't have anything to do with it.

Somehow this news story reminded me of the LunGFish as well:
A man who claimed he was discriminated against in his home town in Australia has had his claim dismissed in a case with echoes of Daffyd, Little Britain's 'only gay in the village'.
The man, who was only identified by the initials MT, claimed he was repeatedly forced to leave the small New South Wales town, with a population of just 2,500, because he was harassed over his sexuality.
He launched a complaint in court against his former employers, claiming they fired him when he told them he was HIV positive.
However, the administrative decisions tribunal found that the man had not been the victim of a homophobic campaign. Instead, the court ruled that the man had a personality that made him think his rights were constantly being violated, Sydney's Daily Telegraph reported.
MT first left the town, which was not named, in 1999, but returned in 2004 and two years later took a job in a local pub. He claimed he was sacked from the job in 2007 because he told the management he was HIV positive.
In court, MT said that a colleague had written "Mr Important" on his time sheet after he allegedly told locals that he was second in charge at the pub, the entertainment manager and a shareholder in the business, when in fact he was a casual barman.
After being fired he got a job at another pub but said he again experienced "a great deal of abuse and harassment" and left the town last year.
He then filed a complaint alleging that the licensee had sacked him because he was HIV positive.
However, the tribunal dismissed the complaint. It found that MT was pre-occupied with thinking that people were discriminating against him. The court said that this was simply an "aspect of his personality".
"MT appeared to us to be particularly ready to interpret conduct by other people as trespassing on his rights and causing unjustified harm to him," the ruling found.
The case bears a striking resemblance to that of the indignant television character Dafydd Jones. Proud to be homosexual and sensing discrimination at every turn, Daffyd flaunts his sexuality in the small Welsh town of Llanddewi Brefi to the locals' complete indifference.

It wasn't Karl Rove. It was retarded Republican politicians working with leftist journalists who lied through their gleaming white teeth and a stupid public who believed the Democrats were somehow better.

For whoever on this thread was wondering about dear Dede's last name:
I hate to do this to my Italian-American brothers and sisters, because God knows we take a lot of shit already (yeah, easy there with the remarks about funny sounding ethnic names buddy; it's a sensitive issue -- of course, having to claim some of these idiots as our own is also a sensitive issue: how would you like to have to acknowledge that dumb, bony, tart Madonna is a paisana? It's hard I tell you.), but here's a close shot at a translation (mind you, my Italian is very rusty, and this is most likely a colloquial origined name and has probably be Ellis-ized to begin with); so, here goes:
Fava -- is a type of bean; quite honestly I don't know if it has any other meaning; someone more versed in Italian (or Spanish might know)
Scozza -- is loosely based as far as I can tell on a slang term which usually stands for someone who is a stirrer of things, a rowdy, often a drunk, somebody who likes to instigate the poo slinging kinda sorta.
Of course, this could be way off base -- like I said: rusty! and the name has probably been Ellis-ized to the point of lost in translation literally.

Patterson started out the same way, and he got rolled too.
I think the state ends up with no one living in it except government employees, all of whom agitate for higher salaries, then moan about the taxes going up.

Software of laser cutting machines makes the process of laser cutting easy and safe. It also makes it simple to change jobs as you move from one production batch to the next. The operation of laser cutters is easy and production is likely to increase when moving away from mechanical systems.
