— Slublog Dede Scozzafava, Newt Gingrich hardest hit.
As someone personally engaged in the way of life in the Adirondacks and Northern New York, Im deeply concerned about the course of our nation and the outcome of the election in the 23rd Congressional District.Newt Gingrich reacts to the news:Simply put, we cannot afford to give another vote to Nancy Pelosi and Harry Reid we cannot afford another vote for higher taxes, we cannot afford another vote for government run health care and we absolutely cannot afford another vote to take away from hard working men and women the right to secret ballot.
That is why tonight, Im proud to endorse Doug Hoffman, a Republican, running on the Conservative line for Congress in the 23rd Congressional District.
Thanks to DrewM for the Eric Carmen gag.

What makes you think Newt is so smart? He always struck me as a blathering boring bullshit artist. He was easily the most pedantic politician of the past thirty years.
He screwed up his political career, let the Clintons make mincemeat of him in 1995/6 and then threw his job away with a public affair. Ral genius, there.
I'm just glad his innate ability to self-destruct lasted just long enough to wipe him off the politcal map for 2012. He was a total disaster waiting to happen for the conservative movement, the dumb prick.

It's most important that Hoffman wins, but after that, it's most important that he appears to have won on the strength of a certain rogue, not the progeny of Al D'Amato...
Not to worry, my friend. Wasn't it that certain rogue who started the endorsement ball really rolling last week?
Now think about what that means. It means not only that she inspires the voters to jump on board---she also leads the way for the other politicians!!!

I'm guessing he wants a guaranteed return on his investment of time and past efforts. The GOP apparatus will provide for him the most. I'm guessing a new focus where conservative principles trump personalities will not give him the status he now expects.

She also is the second person to say that she doesn't want Christie to get in cause he will put the state through hell uncovering all the corruption and cleaning things up."
None of that makes any sense, especially the former. At all. Unless your goal is to perpetuate failure in the most robust way possible. Then it makes perfect sense.

Have had quite a lot of wine tonight. Will re read the post tomorow as it is getting mroe and mroe difficult to spell right and read lol. What I was essentially trying to say is that these two idiot people that I cane into contact with in social situations have all the wrong reasons for voting for corzine. Yet, even in the face of knowing this, knowing they haven't like him as governor and that probably Christie is the best man for the job, are still voting for corzine. I think I posted this to essentially say How do you deal with people like this when nothing they are doing makes any sense and yet they plan to do it anyway?

My sources tell me Scuzzy and Pelosi have both offered Newt a bipartisan Cleveland-Steamer if Scuzzy wins. Word is Newt was all tied up in the same bed he used to adulterate his career away, waiting for the love to begin, when he saw the latest polls showing Scuzzy's chances, and his own hopes, going down the shitter.
Word is he's really disappointed.

He was speaker, but the Contract and the good works done by the GOP in that era are something that Newt jumped onto. If anything, he stopped it dead in its tracks.
Palin started the ball rolling on this race. Many have followed her idea of endorsing, the same boost she gave Mccain has lifted Hoffman, and some have been proven a bit weak. If someone out there wants to show us they are better at leadership than Palin, they had better step up to the plate quickly.

Yeah, up here in Minnesota the whole month of October has been one long wet dreary drizzle. We had an abnormally cool summer, about three days of wonderful fall weather, and then rain, rain, rain. Then he's out after election in Nov.

Here is Moulitsas realizing that he had a big mouth with his endorsement and is now "gaming it out" in a laughably absurd explanation about why his original endorsement wasn't really an endorsement:
I have no love for the Democrat, Owens, and I clearly have no love for Scozzafava in that post, so only an idiot would construe that as an "endorsement". An endorsement implies love for the candidate being endorsed. I wish nothing but ill will for all candidates in this race. But the GOP is full of idiots, and they've run strong with it, making my "endorsement" part of their anti-Scozzafava narrative. And now we're in a situation in which the conservative candidate Doug Hoffman has a real chance of performing better than the Republican.
Um...please forgive me, Markos, for quoting you directly but let me repeat what you stated on October 1:
...So it's official, I'm rooting for the Republican to win.
You were "rooting for" the Republican to win and you even made it "official." If that's not an endorsement, then I don't know what is. Oh, you stated that an endorsement "implies love for the candidate being endorsed." Um...no it doesn't, Markos. Hillary Clinton eventually endorsed Barack Obama for president last year. Do you actually think this implied love on her part?
Moulitsas then tries to distance himself for the harm his original endorsement caused:
So I'm no longer rooting for a Scozzafava victory. That gets us nothing. And I'm not rooting for a Hoffman victory, and I'm certainly not rooting for Owens because I'm over Lieberdems.
I'll leave it to others to try and squeeze out my "endorsement" from that steaming pile of dog s--t.
But I'm rather pleased I've been used to attack Scozzafava by the likes of Club for Growth and Glenn Beck. Such mischief is almost Rovian!
