Palinmania Claims New Victim: Sally Quinn
— Ace

On O'Reily.

Quinn wrote a fairly demeaning tear on Palin before her speech. And of course she then had to ask about Palin's "priorities" as a mother, and if it's right to seek high office while caring for children.

After her speech, she's taking it back, at least regarding her sneering that this woman couldn't possibly be qualified. (She says she'd say the same thing about a Democrat... um, all right.)

She's still pushing the bad mother angle -- she wants to know if Palin will put her country first or her children first.

Will Barack Obama put the nation first or his daughters first, I wonder.

To be honest, to me it sounds like she's just doing CYA.

Which is interesting in its own right. She's now claiming she's down with Palin even though she's not? What does that say, I wonder.

Posted by: erik at September 05, 2008 04:03 PM (hblvb)

8 I know what she said on O'Reilly the night before the speech (she was on because of her column)

A - that the McCain people didn't do their jobs in not releasing her name earlier so the press could vet her (almost exact quote)

and so therefore

B- We are now learning that this woman who has 5 children, 1 special needs and let's face it, about to have a 6th child when Bristol gives birth and so it was irresponsible of McCain to pick this distracted mother because

C- woman and men have different roles, different requirements and she can't possibly be able to handle it and be a good mom and good vice president.

9 I bet my first born sprecial needs baby that we're going to be seeing more of these "take backs" in the coming weeks.

Sally Quinn was the first.

10 FYI, this is Sally Quinn:

"She is the mother of five children, one of them a four-month-old with Down Syndrome. Her first priority has to be her children. When the phone rings at three in the morning and one of her children is really sick what choice will she make? I'm the mother of only one child, a special needs child who is grown now. I know how much of my time and energy I devoted to his care. He always had to be my first priority."

11 Duh!
Obviously he puts his daughters first.  After pouring $150 million into Chicago public schools with Ayers via Annenberg, with no discernible effect, he is sending his daughters to private schools.
But the question isn't where he's sending his daughters, the question is what we're going to do to better the public schools, because, after all, not everyone's a senator.

12

I just watched this. She went on both CNN and O'Reilly before Palin's speech with some tired old crap about how she has a special needs child herself and had to take a leave of absence, you just can't have it all, blah blah blah, who's going to watch the children, this is a cynical pick.

Then tonight on O'Reilly she was saying that she "just hadn't known anything about her" and that's why she said those things. Well guess what Sally, you're the media, it's your job to learn about people before writing national columns and going on national TV to disparage people.

Why is it that within five minutes of the announcement, I knew more about Sarah Palin than Sally Quinn did two days after the announcement?

Posted by: Average Jen at September 05, 2008 04:06 PM (OINAg)

13 So basically, Sally Quinn was talking about herself and the thought that Sara Palin could do both competently and with a smile on her face is just too much for Sally to contemplate because she couldn't --- in a nutshell

Posted by: Topsecretk9 at September 05, 2008 04:08 PM (9Mhkt)

14 That line in Palin's speech about not going to DC to attend cocktail parties scared her, you can tell. Quinn's already had 8 years of a president not the least bit interested in those things and you know her social standing has suffered.

Posted by: Oschisms at September 05, 2008 04:08 PM (MEOwc)

15 Basically, yes, Topsecret. I was listening to her with my daughter and screaming at the XM Radio--so this is the message you want to give our girls now!? You can do anything you want, unless you have children? Great message, Sally. Well done.

Posted by: Average Jen at September 05, 2008 04:10 PM (OINAg)

16 So, what did Sally Quinn do with her kid? Warehouse him? Is she intimidated by the Palin's commitment to their child as opposed to her lack of commitment to hers? She used him to write and sell a book.

39 ...she wants to know if Palin will put her country first or her children first.

What do they call that, a false choice, or something? Why does it have to be one or the other, why is impossible for a woman to be a great vice president and a great mother?

Besides, doesn't this exact criticism undermine the arguments that a single mother can have a career and homosexual couples make fabulous parents? We are told again and again that traditional families and the need for children to have a mom and dad is old-fashioned, sexist, homophobic, and bigoted.

Posted by: Bart at September 05, 2008 04:38 PM (I+NO0)

40 Great.

My mom is a flight attendant, worked a flight from Minneapolis-Saint Paul

CNN news guy (she said) was telling her that Cindy McCain's outfit, shoes and jewelry costed $300 and did you know that Cindy's dad all but abandoned Cindy's step sisters from a previous marriage and did you know that they didn't even MENTION the step sisters in her bio video and did you know....I said McCain's not married to her step sisters.

48 By the way--it's not that hard to field dress a moose. (I've done it) The trick is getting it back to the pickup. (You can't shoot them from near a road, it's illegal) You quarter it, strap each quarter onto a backpack frame. (Quarters are 80-100 lbs) They you hike it out. If you are by yourself, you need to bury the other three quarters, or hang them in a tree so that a bear doesn't find them. Then you hike back, get the next quarter, and repeat three more times. On second thought, it is kind of hard. But given the price of beef these days, it's quite a deal. 300 lbs of high grade meat in your freezer is worth a lot. Jeez, I remember going years without tasting beef, when I was a kid.

The recourse to the MSM is to blog and read blogs and contribute to blogs (especially those that go into warzones).  Keep their ass in check.

there is no doubt that blogs helped get the story out that a lot of the charges against Palin were BS.  The high level of ridiculousness the media exhibited lately is a big part of the reason so many watched her and love her.  It's backfiring against the dems.

That we are a nation with plenty of jackasses is sadly something we have to pay attention to.  Speaking out against it and making sure others to is the right response.

87 Bart / 39 "What do they call that, a false choice, or something? "

"False dichotomy," aka "bullshit dilemma."

88 Amy / 77 "I am getting so tired of this "bad mother" bit."

If soap operas have higher ratings than "Firing Line," there's probably a reason why.  But I don't know for sure that they are.  I do know that 7/8 of all the stupid shit I hear at work about Sarahcuda Palin are soap-opera bullshit, with about 1/8 having dick to do with policies or tactics or history or anything else about her.
Voters, damn, we're a stupid lot.

89 From Patterico:... I agree with Ingraham that this was a planned moment by the Obama campaign. It can hurl inflammatory criticism, denounce it and look principled. In fact, one of the few tactics that seems to be working for Barack Obama occurs when someone on his behalf says something that he can then denounce. This tactic made Obama look principled … until he did it so many times that now it just makes him look like a hapless chief executive who can’t control a reckless staff and surrogates. Clinton had "bimbo control" .. Obama has "low level staff failure control"

Just watched the dizzy cunt.

Its just damage control. She knows the shrill harpy clawing will make women flock to Palin

Shes backpedalling to seem "moderate"

On Oreilly, this paragon of enlightenment said "women CANT do everything" and "I still am concerned that if she is putting country first that she cant be putting that downs syndrome baby first"

Then lied that if Palin was a Dem she'd be saying the same thing.

...'Sally Quinn said McCain is "likely" to die in office "given his age and health'...

Ah, yes...Dr. Sally Quinn PhD MD UofC OMG OMNIP...all knowing, all seeing, all everything

95 CNN news guy (she said) was telling her that Cindy McCain's outfit, shoes and jewelry costed $300 and did you know that Cindy's dad all but abandoned Cindy's step sisters from a previous marriage and did you know that they didn't even MENTION the step sisters in her bio video and did you know....I said McCain's not married to her step sisters.

A dress, shoes, and jewelry for only $300 bucks? That's a steal.  A man's suit, shirt, tie, shoes, and watch would cost way more than $300 bucks. What an idiot.

Cindy has had little to no contact with her half sisters through out her life. Her father provided for his daughter from a previous marriage and her children during his life time, giving them money, an education, and a home.  His step daughter, Dixie, had her own father to provide for her. She also has a son around Cindy's age. Her husband was employed by her step-father.

96 Off topic:  Has anyone discussed in detail Obama on O'Reilly?  I'm dying to hear a discussion or see some clips.  What happened with that?

Don't know. Didn't watch it. However, I heard Larry Elder and some callers on the radio ripping both Obama and O'Reilly to shreds over it.  One of the questions and responses were, would Obama listen to Petraeus.  Obama responded, yes, but then I would give him new orders, which implies he wouldn't listen to him at all.

I recall Ms Quinn's(Didn't she mary an influential much older man from a now defunct newspaper) report of her time as a failed tv hostess(cupcake).she claimes no one ever told her the light meant the camera was on.I think that speaks loads about her intellect. No one probably told her to flush the toilet either.

And because a politician has a child with a serious health problem doesn't mean they can't have a career and care for the child.Se ted Kennedy had a child with osteosarcome and was able to both do his Senate duties and chase pussy full time. What a guy.

98 Mustang Sally should tuck her nutsack a little farther back and stop being such a petty, jealous tranny.
