She needs to do more of these and McLame needs to let her do her thing.

Sort of like Dubya-version hate and pressure...but she's only been on the scene a month.

My life has become immeasurably less stressful since I stopped reading Hot Air. It's hard to stay away what with all the constant updates, but ya gotta think about the ol' blood pressure. I can only handle so many "Just a reminder: Obama's going to win. Also, Galactus is coming to devour your homeworld" posts in one day.
I'll go back when/if Humping Robot makes a cameo.

The Russia stuff probably could've been a decent answer if it was just rearranged and better phrased.
Agreed. Her first interviews on a national level should have been with the friendlies, with a MSM one thrown in here or there.
No gotchas right out of the gate, and practice articulating answers on some of the subjects like foreign policy that she isn't as familiar with in a real situation.

As for the demand of tough questions... I'd just like to know what she thinks about things so that I can judge her judgment. I'm less interested in knowing if she can pull facts about McCain's political career out of her butt or rattle off Supreme Court cases. There isn't something morally superior involved in a hostile interview. It doesn't increase our ability to learn anything useful. It's not actually journalism.
Sure, we've got two months to learn about her... but where the heck are the "what is your favorite color" questions? When do we get to "visit" with Sarah? Other politicians *do* get these sorts of interviews.

I liked this from the Hewitt interview:
HH: Now Governor, the Gibson and the Couric interview struck many as sort of pop quizzes designed to embarrass you as opposed to interviews. Do you share that opinion?
SP: Well, I have a degree in journalism also, so it surprises me that so much has changed since I received my education in journalistic ethics all those years ago. But Im not going to pick a fight with those who buy ink by the barrelful. Im going to take those shots and those pop quizzes and just say thats okay, those are good testing grounds. And they can continue on in that mode. Thats good. That makes somebody work even harder. It makes somebody be even clearer and more articulate in their positions. So really I dont fight it. I invite it.
"I invite it." That's the 'Cuda I've been waiting for. If this is her attitude for the debate, then she'll be fine.

Since her nomination, he's been only taking calls from women. I can understand doing that for a couple of days, but for 4 weeks? Apparently only women have a stake in the Palin VP run. It's a little bizarre for a solid Republican to pander to women.
Or maybe it's just me.

This actually doesn't bother me. Ifill did one of the debates in the 2004 election cycle. I know she's a lib, but I thought she did a pretty good job being fair and balanced.

Gwen Ifill has gotta know that there is a rising disbelif at the MSM reporting and is smart enough to be extra careful.
I hope so anyway. Jim did a good job I thought at the debate.
I will have to go look up the VP format though.

Mrs Palin? Blue
<cold stare>
Mizzz Palin, You realize that Mr Biden's favorite color is Brown yet you said Blue. When did you become a racist in all white Alaska where the only black thing is a hockey puck and they smack that thing around? Where they kill Panda bears and Frosty the Snowman goes to die.

Ah, I like Allah gloomy and all. Understand why he pisses people of though in the heat of this election.
I loved his old photoshops. He certainly has been fighting the good fight, as he sees it, for a long time; so I am happy he is out there banging out thoughts.
Posted by: ArandomPerson at September 30, 2008 03:19 PM (2PwTK)
BTW, I often find Allah humorous. In fact, he's responsible for some of the funniest content ever posted on the Internet. I just can't handle the constant bombardment of pessimism (I can look at RCP myself and see bad polling trends without being told to stick my head in the oven). He's also consumed vast amounts of MSM kool-aid on Palin and I'm growing weary of it. Allah always tells people to leave if they disagree with him, so I left. He's a good guy though and he'll be normal again after the election no matter who wins.
Unless the Mets choke in the last game of the regular season again.
As for NRO, I've read NR for 15 years and really like a lot of their writers. I miss John O'Sullivan as editor and even WFB, who was all over the place with his views toward the end but still made some great observations. Some of the new folks rub me the wrong way (Parker is probably on some of the drugs that the magazine supports legalizing), but NR is comitted to defeating Obama as they were Kerry and every other lefty socialist jerk for decades. As long as you go in with the knowledge that they're all country club Republicans, you won't be disappointed. I spend way more time at AoSHQ, though. FWIW.

I will have to go look up the VP format though.

This is an open email being sent to you, and everyone else in the U.S.
government.
I guess our good Senators, and the rest of our ELECTED government
officials JUST DON'T GET THE MESSAGE - the one that was sent by the
House vote.
NO BAILOUT.
Not in any form.
Not under any circumstances.
Not by any name Whatsoever.
Not NOW, and not EVER!
Not just "NO", but "HELL NO!"
And certainly not until after Paulson, ex Wall-Street CEO, who has a 700
million dollar conflict of interest, and brings in AIG cronies to work
on bailing out AIG, steps down or is FIRED. HE IS TAINTED, right along
with all the other criminals that run the U.S. House of Representatives.
If you want any bill to pass, IF THIS IS TRULY SUCH A CRISIS, the first
step is to FIRE PAULSON, or have him to STEP DOWN. The next step would
be to put McCain and Palin on the stage, together, explaining why.
You, Paulson, Pelosi, Dodd, Frank, Reid and every other House Democrat
HAS LOST ALL CREDIBILITY OUT HERE ON MAIN STREET by attempting to shred
our Constitution.
WE THE PEOPLE do NOT support this bailout.
If John McCain votes to support either the Dodd amendment to HR 1424, or
HR 1424 itself I will not vote for him, and I will NEVER VOTE
Republican again.
Everyone needs to get this through their heads - 80% of the people in
the United States ACTIVELY OPPOSE this bill in ANY FORM. And, yes, we
are quite aware of the consequences, and prepared to pay the price to
avoid having our Constitution shredded. If ANYONE IN WASHINGTON
actually works for "We the People" people, they will oppose this
shredding of our Constitution.
Will you people in Washington get this through your heads:
NO BAILOUT - UNDER ANY CIRCUMSTANCES, or by ANY NAME. We completely
understand the consequences, and are willing to accept them to save this
country and our Constitution. And if you are really so interested in
destroying the Republican Party - keep making those 9:00 a.m. TV
appearances and trying to scare the market. You are making us ABSOLUTELY
FURIOUS. You are MANUFACTURING this crisis.
NO ONE OUT HERE TRUSTS EITHER YOU, PELOSI, DODD, FRANK, REID, or
PAULSON. You have ZERO credibility. If you want this bailout to pass,
you'd better get McCain and Palin together on TV, explaining why, after
FIRING Mr. Paulson - the Wall Street CEO with so much at stake, so many
irons in the fire, so desperate to "fix" this "crisis". WE DO NOT
BELIEVE YOU.
WE do not buy the "credit and liquidity" nonsense. WE can see that is
blatantly and patently FALSE.
We don't care that people "won't be able to buy new cars unless they
have good credit".
We don't care that people "won't be able to buy washers and driers
without good credit".
We don't care that "people won't be able to get student loans without
having good credit".
We DON'T BELIEVE that businesses will close down, only BAD ONES.
WE DON"T BELIEVE ANY OF THIS AND COULD NOT CARE LESS, EVEN IF THEY WERE
TRUE.
SOUND banks and credit Unions don't seem to have a problem lending money
to GOOD credit risks. The American Dollar is strong and is literally
crushing the Euro. The price of oil is dropping. And you appear to
want to FIX SOMETHING THAT IS NOT BROKEN, EXTINGUISH THE "FLAMES" BY
PUTTING ARSONISTS IN CHARGE OF PUTTING OUT THE FIRE.
Honestly, we don't care about ANY OTHER of the absurd and utterly
ridiculous explanations and cautions that have been put forth. You're
making this all sound like "Can I get me a huntin license, yuck, yuck."
LET ME REITERATE - YOU'RE MAKING US ALL COMPLETELY FURIOUS BY TALKING
DOWN TO US IN THIS FASHION. You need to let Freddie and Fannie go
bankrupt, and prosecute EVERY crooked politician that took EVER TOOK
money from them - which covers just about every Democrat there is,
doesn't it?
End of story. Period.
I am an American, Taxpaying, Republican voter
and I approve this message.

One thing Palin does need to say at some point - "I'm going to be around for a long time. At the rate things are going for them and their market capitalization, unless someone with deep pockets like Bloomberg throws them a line, by 2012 we may not have to worry about the New York Times anyway."
Posted by: mrkwong at September 30, 2008 08:48 PM (G8Eo0)
THE FORGOTTEN MAN.
History belongs to the Democrat victors (FDR) who laid their own claims that at least three American generations have been indoctrinated to believe. Scholars are a rare breed who are not into research in order to promote a political agenda, but to reveal the records to stand on the records' merit.

That's a good idea. She could moderate a segment per expert alongside the radio show host. The point would be to allow America to hear Palin converse with experts, to hear what questions Palin would raise, and how effectively Palin gets the answers from unwilling sources. Have the regular show's host alongside to maneuver the mechanics of timing breaks, etc., besides providing the audience with the host's own questions (the host has a loyal following who would so enjoy supporting Palin as well).
I liked Palin's demure critique of today's "journalists" lack of journalism ethics as taught when Palin earned her degree. So much lost in so little time "because they could" do as they like fabricating news instead of presenting the record to stand on its own merit. Palin has tact and suave style, the very things that Obama's cohorts claim are their beast's. And Couric hasn't a clue how to appreciate Palin's style, as being a total bitch is so much easier and self gratifying to Katie or The View or even Gwen Ifell with her "new light" shedding all over. Exactly which of the leading journalist women are beloved by Americans? Joan Lunden's been gone from the scene for a long while, and Diane Sawyer is a wuss of a tool. Everyone, regardless of gender, has bought into the idea to eschew at all costs "a woman's touch" as a sign of weakness. Yet that strength to perform without being obnoxiously cynical is exactly what endears a public female figure to her constituents. Palin is proving that gentility is not garnered "back East" by the elitists (wherever they be globally), but from the wilderness "out West".

Palin is what Palin is, but it's kind of tiresome to read the broad, sweeping indictments of the old-school conservative media (You know, the institutions that were carrying the ball when there was no conservative movement). If they take a different point of view regarding her interviews than you do, that doesn't make them quislings. Quit being so damn doctrinaire. You're reminding me of the idiots who de-linked Instapundit because he wouldn't announce a fatwah on the ACLU.
