1. Will the leftists attempt to have these banned like cluster munitions when many fail to detonate.
2. Will they require them to paint the warhead yellow?
3. If we could supply the Pals with depleted uranium warheads, would the left make any noises?

That aside, I love how random photos sent to news organs by terrorists are published automatically as important news, but credible information and photos from the US armed forces are dismissed as government propaganda.

I propose a compromise: some Palestinians engage in terrorism (just not these guys) and some parts of Iraq are in civil war.
I do have to admit, though, that I'm becoming quite fond of the Headline/Caption School of Winger Media Criticism. It takes parsing to whole new level.

Randomly firing rockets into civilian areas? Of course the vest bombers always walk up to their targets in such "uniforms" too.

Usually they put on the common uniform of organized warfare many 14 year olds wear to school, which is convenient since so many of their warriors who actually kill people in the public eye are 14 year old schoolboys.

the nazi's violated EVERY law of war as it exists now, so saying "well, the nazi's did it" isn't an argument.
However, you know something that the nazi's dit do?
they fought in open conflict. At first the War with brittain, was based on the idea that brittain was a state filled with a silent nazi sympathizing majority, this is VERY different.
The V-1 and v-2 efforts, and the naval defense forces (The biggest mistake of the germans, was to attack brittain and the US directly on the seas) and brittain in their attrition campaign to distract their third front from their russian campaign.
Posted by: Wickedpinto at November 28, 2006 11:30 PM (QTv8u)
It's a fine line, but these are sort of terror weapons like the V1 and V2.
Nazi weaponry, as a defense?
Really?
Really?
If you want WWII comparissons, then, it's okay to firebomb all of gaza, it's okay to nuke demascus, it's okay to destroy all of lebanon and Iran's infrastructor, no matter the civilian casualties.
You are comparing apples to apples, but you don't realize that we are talking about oranges, and don't want to start talking about the apples again, because we are a civilized ideology, as are the israeli's.
Posted by: Wickedpinto at November 28, 2006 11:33 PM (QTv8u)
"It's a fine line": this means it's tough to decide what is a terror weapon and what is simply a not very accurate but legitimate weapon.
Then I state that they are like V1 and V2s which were essentially terror weapons. see that word "terror" there.
I can call them that because I'm pretty sure about the targeting and motivation of the users, i.e. they simply wish to kill Israelis and not military targets.
That said, we also have to realize that not every country has access to smart bombs - Hizbullah using Katushas isn't much different from the Russians using them (except again who they intentionally target and why.)
And yes, we should be giving these dudes a little bit of respect for trying to wear uniforms...even if it is for play purposes only.

Yes, not every country has smart bombs, but the rules of war predate the availability of smart bombs. While one might argue that during WWII, many civilian targets were hit due to a lack of accuracy and a relaxation of what it means to be a military target, the rules and customs of war do allow for retaliations as a means of responding to violations. The nazis did attack city centers and received in return attacks on their cities. The V-1 and V-2 weapons were then arguably permissible in the sense that both sides were retaliating.
It should be noted that traditionally, the rules and customs of war have been seen in a contractual sense, so the systematic breaking of the contract would release the other parties from following it vis-a-vis the offending party.
The Palestinian terrorists have no record of respecting any of the rules of war, so there should be no problem in calling them on it. Treatment of them should be on an "as necessary" basis because treating them as soldiers would condone their violations of the rules of war.
Posted by: EricTheRed21 at November 29, 2006 06:31 AM (hJ9g5)
This is not correct. They could be used against military targets or at least attempted to be used against military targets. Do you think Israeli border checkpoints are surrounded by apartments? They may not choose to attempt to strike military targets with these, and for that, they should be rightfully villified.
Posted by: Aaron at November 29, 2006 07:03 AM (HuNjm)
That's a self-definition...of course terrorists do not obey the rules of war.
Now, how about the Palestineans who created the anti-tank mines that knocked out a few Merkavas...well, damn, those guys are following the rules.
We need to respect our enemies and not make them into cardboard cut-outs. (Note this means respect in terms of wariness and alertness not praise.)
Posted by: Aaron at November 29, 2006 07:09 AM (HuNjm)
Now, how about the Palestineans who created the anti-tank mines that knocked out a few Merkavas...well, damn, those guys are following the rules.
Most war criminals operate within the rules some of the time. The point is that there is no group of Palestinians that has made it a point to do so consistently. At least, not that I'm aware of. Certainly the major players don't; they claim "credit" for the rocket strikes from Gaza.

Posted by: Gotta Know at November 29, 2006 11:36 AM (idqPG)
Vilification is pointless unless it is followed up by a campaign designed to destroy terrorist groups.
Yes, the rockets could be used against military targets, but given the existing record, and given the poor accuracy of the rockets, the probability that they would be used in a purely military context is next to nil. It should also be pointed out that their obvious strategy is to scare the Israeli public to leave the ME, and the best way to do that would be to attack the civilian population. That strategy clearly suggests that engaging Israeli military units would not have the same bang for the buck.

12 Americans murdered every day by illegal immigrants according to a new study. That is 21,900 since September 11, 2001 or about two murders per year per mile of border that goes unfenced. I'd call it a "quagmire" too:

I'm just writing this to give advice to all geek/dorks. Women get it when you post about our breast and other regions. When you post about Harry Potter - well we start to wonder. Women are actually a lot easier than you think. Tell us we're pretty, smart, and different than all the others and you pretty much will have us. Oh yeah, PAY for the date even if we refuse to let you pay and do it at LEAST 4-5 times. Then you're in. We will be willing to pay for you (pending that you tell us we're beautiful, smart, etc.).

Seattle Slough has interspecies sex with equines, I'm sure he's ashamed, but thats just how it is.

The island is virtually empty except for Port au Prince, Cape Haitien (and their burbs). Gonaves is largely a weekend getaway/resort place for the mainlanders.
One of the problems is the fractured politics. There's something like 60 political parties there. All the governments they've ever had are of course extremely corrupt too.
One of my long term dreams is to somehow setup a co-op manufacturing facility there someday. There's no reason why Haiti couldn't produce all the junk coming out of China these days.
They could be more competitive than even the Chinese because of the shorter shipping distances. A shipping container from Haiti to the mainland is in the $2500 range. You can pack a LOT of stuff in a container.

I think PA's point is that low intrusion manufacturing could easily be introduced to a nation that lives exclusively off of UNAID (which is US Aid, just the UN gets credit without blame) and tourism, and the tourism IS HIGHLY ARMED, and Protected. Those places are like fortresses. would no longer have to be a land of extremes, but rather, a reasonable environment for capitalization of resources.
capitalization of resources = wealth.
Aid mongering = pour starving and strife.

Really, I always knew it, but I suggest everyone read the retief story's/novels, it's PERFECTLY APPLICABLE! cuz I couldn't visualize the sort of diplomatic cynicism we have been engaging in for so long without that help.
The US government and the UN "security" needs to stop creating "islands of commerce" through force by protecting the tourist spots, forcing haiti to spend the GNP on security for private enterprise through tourism, and allow private enterprise to hier far more competant and far more affective people to secure themselves, (there will be NO change in rates for haiti tourism) and allow haiti to focus on those little things like Self governance.

and I kept thinking, "rumsfeld was retief."
Only argument I have against the stories is the forsythian adoration for monarchy's in the short stories, but in the novels they tend to favor, a true popular governance, based on chaotic conflict for dominance (which is really what democracy is, only minus the violence)

How can "THE MEDIA" the OMNIPRESENT, and OMNISCIENT, IMMORTAL, and UNCHALLENGEABLE MEDIA! Declare, REGULARLY, the POWER of THE MEDIA, and then NEVER TAKE RESPONSIBILITY!?
Fuck!
"With great power comes great responsibility" that was in the FIRST APPEARANCE of spiderman, COMIC BOOK WRITER/'s understood that, why don't the media?
The media declares their power, say they aren't using their power, and then blame others for victimizing them because they are abusing their power, without once, not ONCE has the media admitted that the perception of a civil war lives ONLY because the media has used it's power to build a story, but NOW! the media says "we were right all along" when the truth is "see we were supporting it all along!"
How do you have "power" use it, make dictates, abuse governments, spread innuendo, HYPE innuendo, depict only one side, ignore another, deride the other, and proclaim your "power" while simultaneously saying "we had nothing to do with this?"
"We are powerless, through our ability to make people think we are powerless, but if you haven't noticed, we are always right, especially when we ignore the situations that prove we are wrong, but POOR MEDIA! because the PRESIDENT OF THE UNITED STATES OF AMERICA, can request, and recieve airtime pretty much whenever he pleases, as long as the media gets 1 hour of advanced coverage, to dismantle all the efforts of the president in a "special pre-speech special specialization by specialists" for a 20 minute speech to AMERICANS.

WP,
HP fan sites are administered and frequented by kids. For them, a 21 year old is an Old Man. When 30+ geriatrics like us go there and post with some worldly wise perspective, the kids see in us Voldemort himself.
I don't agree with you that JKR is a hHack. She came out with a wonderful world inhabited by Wizards, and magical creatures and all. It takes a lot of imagination to construct something like that. And she makes money in the process. Good for her.
BTW, interesting theory about HP and Neville.
Posted by: Tushar D at November 30, 2006 06:35 AM (h76y6)
I pointed the same theory out to my son and it about crushed him. I may have went too far and guessed that Neville was the true hero and everyone was mistaken about HP because Voldy went after him. Kind of like the interpreting the Oracle of Delphi, the bad guy never gets it right.
My guess is that you will be correct when the last book comes out.

Steve #2,
in the last chapter of OotP, Harry asks the same question to Dumbledore: What makes you think I am the one, and not Neville? Dumbledore replies that according to prophecy, Voldemort will "mark" someone as his equal and opponent. Voldy marked HP with that cool lightning bolt. So he is the one.

The first Jordan Spizike 2012 model was designed by Tinker Hatfield. While Jordan was still pursuing a career in baseball, Hatfield designed the jordan shoes in hopes that Michael would eventually wear it if he returned to the NBA.As a matter of fact, the air jordan shoes did reach certain effect. It combined performance with sports and energy, it stands for the realization of dream and the procedure of perseverance.what they were trying to do was to make jordan shoes become world famous.
The Jordan shoes was meant to stand out with a fusion of performance and style. Taken from the world of high-end mountaineering backpacks, the condura nylon upper gave the Jordan XI model lightweight durability. Further innovation came with the use of a carbon fiber plate on the sole of the shoe, that can be seen underneath the clear outsole, which gave the shoe exceptional torsional rigidity. The most visually distinct aspect of the shoe was its shiny patent leather mid and toebox. A material long used in the fashion industry, patent leather was extremely lightweight, when compared to genuine leather, and also tended not to stretch - a very useful property to help keep the foot within the bounds of the shoebed during quick direction changes on the court. The shiny leather gave the XI what many described as a "formal" look - a fact that many owners of the shoe took advantage of thereafter, pairing the shoe off the court with business suits in substitution for dress shoes. Boyz II Men wore black and white Spizikes shoes with white suits at one of their concerts.
