— Ace You have to see the picture to believe it.
Kinda hard to "divine voter intent" there, I admit.

It couldn't be more clear. Next.

C'mon, Ace, it's clear that not filling in the oval properly and colouring outside of the lines means this is at least an invalid ballot if not a clear vote for Franken as he's the candidate who plays outside the lines.

You need to understand that folks from Minnesota are truly different from ordinary Americans (except for those on the respective coasts). An over-dose of lutefisk and kringla can damage the mind. This makes certain motor skills difficult. Hence, the "drawing outside the lines" and swirlys. Living long-term in Minnesota can effect your sanity (sorry, Powerline guys) which is why I choose to stay out of it.
Did I mention that the Iowa football team has the best half-back in the nation? Or, that Iowa plays Minnesota this weekend? Or, that I played for Iowa? Nevermind, it doesn't impact on my analysis.
Posted by: Fierce Scorpion at November 19, 2008 01:53 PM (DE7cN)
He's probably right.
BTW, this study was referring to ballots on which the intent is clear, but the scanner couldn't read it--for example, when someone checks or scribbles in the oval instead of filling it in.

so franken is part of 3 parties?
Five if you count the Communist Party and ACORN.
I don't expect any problem with the recount. What could go wrong with this guy in charge?

There's actually a story at that same StarTrib on how to look for clues as to who's winning the recount! Oooweee! Didn't realize that there were clues to counting. Missed that episode on Seasme Street apparently.
Mare-I think that the crazy pills are everywhere. Like they've been crushed up and sprinkled into the air -er something. OH WAIT. That's the pixie dust preceeding the rainbows and my shiny new unicorn. My Bad.

I don't know the history behind it, it's probably in Wiki, but Power Line always calls the Dems by the local, DFL title.
Posted by: andycanuck at November 19, 2008 02:04 PM (6rN+7)
Ah...apparently the DFL in MN is like the AFL-CIO:
"The DemocraticFarmerLabor Party today is the Minnesota arm of the national Democratic Party, the oldest political party in the world. Its history is distinctive, however, because it also has its roots in third-party protest movements. The DFL came into being in its modern form when the Minnesota Democratic and FarmerLabor parties merged in April 1944."
Posted by: adagioforstrings at November 19, 2008 02:04 PM (5mK/2)
And if the "Clues On Counting" story wasn't enough for you, there's a judge who's now ruled in favor of Franken that he gets to see the list of absentee votors and why each of their ballots was rejected/not counted. What are they going to do--verbally poll each voter? I'm asking. For what it's worth, I can't say that I see any "Repbulicans putting up with this shit"; all their efforts are seemingly thwarted.
Posted by: CInAz at November 19, 2008 02:07 PM (qIOmI)
Look on the bright side, Franken could write great skits for SNL from inside the Senate.
Palamino!

I guess I am just gobsmacked that we see democracy disappearing bit by bit and you would think it might actually matter to people.
How are Republicans going to defeat Obama after four years of setting the rules, judges, local officials, Project Vote, ACORN and minty fresh voting laws?

If the person who filled out that ballot sees it, he's going to know it's his.
I'd love to see him on the news saying "Damn right I voted for Coleman, and I'm going to kick Franken's ass."
Of course, Franken would produce some moron saying "It's mine, and I just don't know how I wrote in the wrong place."

These people are NEVER given power. They just seize it and dare you to take it from them. I predict that Franken will not only steal this election, but Franken will be considered 'the grand old man of the Senate' in 30 years.
Stupid Minnesotans should never have let it get this far in the first place.

With or without Zippy the Pinhead in the Senate, we are fucked. It warms my heart that those people who voted for him, Frank, Pelosi, The Emperor will be fucked even more. They did so under the lack of knowledge that good things will come instead of the dictator communist country it will be. The rest of us know well in advance what is coming
Never underestimate the power of stupid people to so willingly screw themselves over. And these idiots are going to wonder how they ended up eating catfood and living in a cardboard box.

@39: Good way to kill yourself -
1. Find a tall building
2. Set a glass of water on the sidewalk next to the tall building.
3. Jump off the building wearing swim fins, a scuba mask, and arm floaties.
Everyone will always wonder if you were a suicide, or just the world's worst daredevil.

I keep telling you people, the answer is THIS IS MINNASOTA, the democrats (or equalvilant) own this state and the limited mentality of the people (mostly thru the very poor school systems that exist here).
I have had to watch the stupidity and corruption of the DFL during this campaign. They don't even try and hide it. The authorties actively participate in it and those that aren't are quickly removed or bribed. I came from Virginia and I saw some questionable thing there but compared to here it is by the book. Most of the people know their politicans are corrupt but don't give a damn, and know that they can do nothing about it because of the embeded problems.
The politicians only care about their personal power closely followed by the party power. They really only care about the party, so that the party will cover their back if by some miricle they get caught and can't bribe their way out.
The "Red Star" of Minnasota is useless, finding any honest reporting here is like attenpting to find gold on the streets of New York. The media is either owned or controlled by the party. All the major state agencies are controlled by the party.
Don't get me wrong the adverage Joe and Jane on the street are great people kind, friendly and honest but so used to being used by these clowns that they do not even notice
I am praying that my current contract is up soon and I can get out of this political hell hole before I lose what little common sense I have left.
