Obama's Plan To Bankrupt New Coal Plants [Nice Deb]
— Open Blog

Flaming Skull

This is yet another gem uncovered by Naked Emperor News. It's from an interview Obama gave to the San Francisco Chronicle in which he speaks of his approach to global warming and cap-and-trade systems. It's an approach I'm not sure the bitter gun clingers of Pennsylvania would appreciate:

The transcript via Newsbusters:

Let me sort of describe my overall policy.

What I’ve said is that we would put a cap and trade system in place that is as aggressive, if not more aggressive, than anybody else’s out there.

I was the first to call for a 100% auction on the cap and trade system, which means that every unit of carbon or greenhouse gases emitted would be charged to the polluter. That will create a market in which whatever technologies are out there that are being presented, whatever power plants that are being built, that they would have to meet the rigors of that market and the ratcheted down caps that are being placed, imposed every year.

So if somebody wants to build a coal-powered plant, they can; it’s just that it will bankrupt them because they’re going to be charged a huge sum for all that greenhouse gas that’s being emitted.

That will also generate billions of dollars that we can invest in solar, wind, biodiesel and other alternative energy approaches.

The only thing I’ve said with respect to coal, I haven’t been some coal booster. What I have said is that for us to take coal off the table as a (sic) ideological matter as opposed to saying if technology allows us to use coal in a clean way, we should pursue it.

So if somebody wants to build a coal-powered plant, they can.

It’s just that it will bankrupt them.

5 I sent this video to Ace about an hour ago.  Good for you Nice Deb for getting it out too.  Puma's and Freepers are working on getting this out to news organization also.  I know Drudge as been sent this but his page hasn't reflected that yet.

Posted by: Tami at November 02, 2008 07:15 AM (P3ErD)

6 This should be a headline on Drudge. I've tipped him with it and I'm sure others have. Nothing. I hope he puts it up.

7 So what are the chances of getting THAT word out to the coal states in the next 72 hours?  Cha.

8 Well I believe this warrants a flaming skull. This could be the game changer, or a hail-mary pass with no time left on the clock.

Posted by: Blazer at November 02, 2008 07:16 AM (+FzLa)

9 Flaming skull, Deb. Don't worry, Ace will be cool with it and he'll take it down if he isn't.

But he will. Really. Seriously. This is the story of the day.

If you need help with the coding with the flaming skull, please ask and I'll walk you through it. The file itself is here.

We want it. It's our last best hope to swing this crucial swing state, and Ohio too.

Take the initiative!

There needs to be ads up ASAP on this in OH, PA, CO and other coal states.  Also Palin is in OH today and McCain is in PA and they need to hit this hard in their speeches.

Jeez, obama, tell us how you really feel about people in Pennsylvania. murtha you can weigh in on that too.

Unbelievable, does he not understand the basic economic concept of opportunity cost?

Posted by: MR F at November 02, 2008 07:19 AM (qrzXj)

13 BTW, this wouldn't just bankrupt new coal plants.  Existing coal plants would be subject to it as well.

14 Sorry, I don't know how to do a flaming skull. Nobody ever showed me. And now I have to go get ready for church.

16 SKULL SKULL SKULL! Come on, MCCAIN AND PALIN!!! This is it, the true soundbite that can make an impact. Can and ad even be published in time today to run all day tomorrow and tuesday?

Posted by: watchdog at November 02, 2008 07:21 AM (yCbBv)

17 Deb, hold off on church for five minutes. Seriously! This is your Christian duty of the day. Obama wants to kill babies.

I'll walk you through how to code it in two seconds. Just hang on!

Posted by: Christoph at November 02, 2008 07:21 AM (hawOV)

18 Also think about the industries that do business with coal plants. Like the railroad industry.

Posted by: Ginger at November 02, 2008 07:22 AM (2Snaq)

19 If Sen. McCain can't (or otherwise doesn't) turn this into an ad that will run tomorrow in those swing states, he doesn't deserve to win.

Posted by: Daryl Herbert at November 02, 2008 07:23 AM (M6ddU)

20 Christ, just grab somebody off the street pour some gas on their head, light it and take a pic of it, you know the old-fashioned way. Shouldn't take a minute or two.

Posted by: Blazer at November 02, 2008 07:23 AM (+FzLa)

21 You need to contact your GOTV people in PA, OH, KY, IN, IL, WV. These are all coal states, and coal is a big part of their economics.

Posted by: Sharon at November 02, 2008 07:23 AM (AFCJ2)

22 Agreed Daryl, just not sure about the logistics. I'm sure every penny of space has already been bought, so maybe he can swap out another ad?

Posted by: watchdog at November 02, 2008 07:25 AM (yCbBv)

27 There are currently ads running in PA  talking about how McCain plans to cut coal production 72% or some such nonsense and really pushing the development of "clean coal". Obviously this is a big deal to at least western PA. Everywhere you go you see billboards for Consol Energy and their use of coal power. This could be the game changer in PA for McCain if he has the opportunity to get it out there.

soooo, biden was telling the truth about NO NEW COAL PLANTS.

Check out the PAGOP site. THey are running ads on the reverand. This is a different group from GOPTrust.

Also, i have watched the GOP trust ads over and over. They are hammering prime-time with them. CBS shows them at every commercial break from 8-12!

I am betting i see alot of them during football.

Do not give in do not surrender! These last 3 days are the most important.

I have also read alot of reports thats Mac's ground team is far surpassing Bush's in phone calls and door to door!!

This election is ours to win. And win we will.

The real question is, how much will Nancy Pelosi/Harry Reid attempt to block or slow down Obama's agenda?  How much will they try to push their own agenda items?

Um, does he even realize what he's talking about here?

An action that will on the one hand bankrupt companies, and on the other generate billions of dollars.  I'm just a simple country person, but those seem like two lines that don't intersect.

So, when the coal-fired plants are taxed out of existence and we lose 40% of our baseload power and have to lower the amount of electricity being put into the system, will it be racist to still refer to those conditions as 'brownouts'?

82 Thing is - about 15% more of the electorate - IE the difference between how many more Dems will be voting that Repos - thinks the cool young black dude knows what he's talking about, than think the angry old white dude does. Then add in that the Dems are going to record not just a record number of votes more than Repos, but a record percentage of them are, and are going to, vote for their Dem candidate. Then add in that the Repos are going to record not just a record number of votes less than Dems, but a record percentage of them are, and are going to, vote for the other team's candidate - because they see the angry old white dude as at least as incompetent as Bush has been. [This of course includes reflexive racists, who essentially have decided to vote for the cool young black dude because, ni**ger or not, the dude knows what he talks about, where as Whitey looks like he's liable to keel over at any moment and give up the presidency to the naughty Christian reading room librarian, who, while they'd sure like to throw a saddle on her aren't convinced the fact-free zone between her ears that makes her so ride-able is all that good a thing to rely on to deal with the 3 a.m. phone call.] Then add in that independents are breaking generally for the cool young black dude, because, well, who TF knows why those people do anything but they just are... and its basically Obamaclypse Now.

This guy's just plain nuts.

As for all the $$ this system will generate:  it's like states raising cigarette taxes to discourage smoking, and then wondering why the total take from cigarette taxes goes way down, causing them to seek other taxes to compensate for the revenue losses.

No, wait!  The states get a better idea!  They just raise the cigarette taxes some more!!

117 To locus ceruleus at 31 - I can't believe you and so many others fell for that "drill baby drill" scam. Here's the deal: No one in Big Oil is drilling nuthin' nohow nowhere these days, because they cannot: [a] raise the capital without a prospectus on future energy prices, obtain insurance coverage for the inevitable lawsuits from the inevitable storms of chance. Moreover, the Canucks and their Big Oil parners have already taken the hit for all the infrastructure to produce all that tar sands oil in Western Canada, and that alone accounts for almost 30% of current US needs at a price that new drilling projects just can't compete with. 145 "I can connect to instapundit, but his page never stops loading (in Firefox). I think he must have some widget or piece of html code or some such that isn't working quite right."

OregonMuse, it'll be a JavaScript widget or code, not HTML. Here's what you can do about that.

You got the award winning NoScript internet security extension enabled? If not, install it.

If you don't want to block JavaScript for all websites, fine. Don't. But you can keep NoScript's blocking off and just add Instapundit as an "Untrusted" site. That will block all script, but not HTML. It'll load fast.

If you feel like it, you can selectively enable different scripts on that page using NoScript until you've got them all on but the troublesome one. But that's probably unnecessary just to read the site.

147 49% of our electric power comes from coal!? 19% nuclear, 20% natural gas. We already know what's happened to oil exploration, drilling, transport, and refining in this country. We've just heard about coal. Eventually they'll figure out that natural gas is a fossil fuel, too. 88% is a lot of conservation to pull off. Personally, I'm counting on unicorns chasing rainbows on treadmills. Oh, and extension cords that reach from Canada.

195 Barry's energy policy is utter garbage. In this regard the Europeans have a little more sense, they moved to offshore drilling, clean coal and nuclear a long time ago and therefore are not so dependant on the middle east oil producers. And that is the direction McCain wants to take us. Barry seems to be convinced all we need is fresh air and sunshine..what an idiot.

Wow. A plan to bankrupt and destroy an entire industry.

I didn't know about this until now.

That, kiddies, is the very definition of social/economic engineering.

IMO, this is the single most disturbingly shocking of Obama's plans.

Do Obama voters really want this? Do they find merit in it? Do they really think that it's a good and acceptable idea to undertake to destroy a legitimate and lawful industry--one that could fulfill our energy needs or at the very least tide us over until other energy sources are available? An industry which is foundational to the economy and economic well-being and viability of entire regions of our country?

Has anyone polled pro-Obama voters to ask them what they think of this plan?

209 There is another voting group that is affected by "bankrupting coal" that I haven't seen mentioned.  That would be my mother and others like her.  She's retired from the coal industry and relies on it for her monthly pension check.  Put the coal companies out of business and she's down to basic social security which means she's down to nothing.  There are a LOT of people like her in Missouri, where Peabody Coal Co had many mines back in the 60's, 70's, and early 80's.

Just say'n.  Make sure when you're spreading this around don't forget the retirees especially since they are more likely to actually go vote.

McCain also pulled even in the Midwest, moved back into the lead with men, padded his gains among Protestants and Catholics, and is favored for the first time by high school graduates. The race is tied in the mid-west with 12% undecided. Out west Obama is leading only by 4%, with 8% undecided. Obama is above 50% only in the North-east.

Fundamental, no. Maybe we need a front page post about that too.

However, for the swing states in a year where the economy is the issue and no one really doubts that Obama is anti-gun anyway (unlike Clinton, he doesn't even pretend he's ever held one), the PA coal story is the swing-state closer par excellence.

225 190 More good news - IBD shows a two-point race with Mac gaining 2.4 pts.  Far from over.

http://dirtyharrysplace.com/?p=5404

Going by that calculations I threw in Excel, it demonstrates that the Undecided are breaking towards McCain's direction.  Because November 1 and November 2, the undecided stood at 8.7% while McCain gained 1.2% and Obama lost that same amount.  The day before, both lost less than half a point which mostly means nothing.  Now going by the changes since October 13 in Undecided, they've constantly fluctuated but end up adding to McCain's point.  What I did was I took both the sum of Obama and McCain points which added up to 91.3% giving Obama 51.1% of that and McCain 48.4% of that amount who are definitly voting for those candidates.

I know I'm going somewhere with this but 1.9% of that broke for McCain while the same exact amount broke for Obama of the undecided so they're even.  With Obama having a bigger margin in the "definitely voting" category, Mac is having a better effect swinging undecided his way which could give him the election.

Maybe I'm just an idiot.

then, you can have obama propose some sort of tax credit for people who make less than XXX/year to compensate them for the higher energy bills - thus further guaranteeing their vote to the democrat party. And punishing everyone else.

The goal, as always is to make sure 51% of people get more money from government, than they pay in. If you can do this, you cannot lose elections.

Posted by: lorien1973 at November 02, 2008 09:22 AM (ddGv/)

227 The Party ID breakdown in the IBD/TIPP Poll Obama McCain Undecided Dem 85% 8% 7% Rep 5% 89% 6% Ind 43% 45% 12% Note that McCain is peeling off more Democrats than Obama does Republicans. The 7% undecided Democrats are unlikely to go to Obama if they haven't done so yet. We should try to convince the undecided Republicans to come back through direct voter contacts. McCain is actually leading among independents. If we assume conservatively the undecided independents will split 50/50, McCain will still be in a great shape. I actually expect most of them them to go against Obama based on what happened in the Democratic primary. BOTTOM LINE: Obama has not made the sale, has difficulty closing just like in the primaries, and most of the undecided will go to McCain.

264 I sent this to my friends, feel free to use it if you want...

My sister asked me whether I would vote and who I would vote for, and of course the first answer is yes, it is my duty which I have never shirked, and the other is quite obvious for those that know me. I have no recommendations for you as friends and family but for you to vote your conscience. On the other hand, I do offer my reasons for my choice.

At the age of 40, Obama has had ghost-written two biographies of his life  and nothing else (they are ghostwritten, as is the custom for politicians and also the telltale incidence of alien prose and experience – for instance, the precise seamanship metaphors for a man of no nautical expertise)! Even among senators, the egotism of that fact is astounding. But even so, in the direction of those works, Obama describes a life as self-centered as a heroine addict's self-circumscribed world – he is the kind of man who sees a beguiling vision, and once so intoxicated, cannot be swayed by reason nor facts – and writes limply.

Nor is he eloquent. This is his most championed virtue, and that alone is a damning indictment of the state of American oratory, not a palm for his skill. His speech is numbing, his statements ridiculous, his delivery, fine. And while the greatest orator of all, Demosthenes, said the first three attainments of his art were, "Delivery, delivery, delivery," the other parts are invention, arrangement, expression and memory, in which Obama's critical failings are in vapid expression ("Yes, we can!") and warmed-over invention ("Hope!" and "Change!").

Further, Cicero states that there are three styles – the plain, the ornamented, and the vigorous – and that no eloquent speaker can be limited to a single style, for such an orator would be consequently limited in his subjects. By way of proof, Cicero considers the idiocy of using vigorous language to discuss a civic ordnance such as stillicide (damage accrued to one property by runoff of water from another), or the cruelty to a client on trial for his life by using unserious poetry in his defense, or the barbarism of plain speech when recounting the triumphs of his own people, the Romans.

Obama has a single style, a mewling litany long soaked in the rhythms of an odious and racist Black Nationalist church, and can speak neither a truth nor a lie plainly. He is not eloquent. To compare his speeches with even second-rank orators of the past is to weep for our fallen culture today. He peddles rhythms and purple prose, and the fools adore him.

Even if he were a great and substantial speaker and an engaging writer, even if he were not vain enough to attempt two [auto-] biographies nor encourage his blasphemous political deification, he is a disastrous philosopher and outright ignoramus of history. He is an ideologue, seduced by a dream that is not how the world works and never has, and no amount of suffering around him will wake him to the lie. Over and again, from the Berlin Wall to the Cuba Missile Crisis, he takes away precisely the opposite lesson of history and should be self-evident from mere living: that words supercede action, and men who would butcher the innocent can be trusted at their word.

This is madness. There is the Tao, the way of the world, and then there are many fictions of the way the world should work. I can pick up any book on my shelf from authors as diverse as T'ai Kung – a wiseman of Ch'in (1100BC) who knew that the best government taxes lightly, for instance, among other things – to Aristotle who forewarned against all the faults of fascistic socialism by studying states in embryo, and casually refute the very pillars of Obama's worldview. After 2500 years, one would think that a copy of Aristotle's Politics would be available at Obama's library, but, alas, Obama is not an educated man, but a man whose narrow reading has telescoped his worldview away from very inconvenient facts. The fool's path embraces all men, from the least cunning to those of quick but vacant intelligence.

Obama also embraces the most vile characters conceivable: Bill Ayers, his boss and colleague at the (failed) Annenberg Project, and a communist murderer and terrorist; Raishid Khalidi, an Obama dinner guest and a PLO spokesman who wrote lovingly on the mastermind of the Munich terrorists who butchered Israeli Olympic athletes; and the Reverend Wright, Obama's disgusting preacher of decades, who among other greatest hits called Italians 'Garlic noses' and cheered the 9/11 attacks. It is to our country's unending shame when we allied out of necessity with Stalin and others, but Obama in his personal life attaches himself to these monsters. What we were obliged to do in the past, this man will do with relish, and he will certainly prove once again that there are worse things than war; there can always be a scalding peace leading inevitably again to an even more terrible war.

Obama as a writer is as serious as Paris Hilton. As a statesman, as august as a superintendent of schools. As a thinker, his doctrine is founded on Will to change what will not yield, and so would make Nietsche proud and his country ruined. I've never seen a candidate more unserious, and I shall not join the fools' applause to a such a mediocre man. We do not elect presidents by acclaim in this country, and I hope that you will not pass on this petty tyrant's crown when it comes next to your hands.

273 Inspired by Vercingetorix's post #264

I sent this to my dad, but don't use it though, you'll just piss people off...

Hi,

I'll keep this as brief as I can. You won't like it much.

Don't worry, that means you're normal.

I'm going to link to a conservative news source because I like their take on things, but you might possibly if you really look hard enough find something about this in the unbiased mainstream media. Good luck.

In any case, the votes and legislation are a matter of public record. You can look for it at the Illinois Senate and U.S. Congressional websites if you doubt it. I can't imagine why you would.

The Born Alive Infant Protection Act was signed into law by President Bush. The U.S. House of Representatives has 435 members. Only 15 opposed it (hard left zealots in my humble opinion). It passed the U.S. Senate unanimously by voice vote.

It protects babies who survive abortion by requiring medical treatment. Barack Obama opposes this. Mind you, Barack Obama is the person who said with cameras rolling that if his daughters made a mistake and got pregnant, "I don't want them to be punished with a baby."

Moving forward.

During the same year, 2002, the Induced Infant Liability Act was before the Illinois Senate. It is substantially similar to the federal bill. Same provisions. Must protect babies who survive abortion. These aren't babies in the womb. They're not even in the vagina as per partial birth abortion (where they are killed, often full term).

They're in a hospital or abortion clinic somewhere breathing air.

Crying, I assume.

Barack Obama voted "present" against this bill once and then voted "no". One of the versions he voted against was identical to the federal bill, which passed later in the year, that has provisions so widely supported almost all the U.S. House and Senate voted for it.

Barack Obama didn't want the abortionist to have to face the burden of bringing in another medical professional to oversee his or her botched work and provide assistance to the (damnit! I was going to write, "unborn child". Scratch that. Born child!) baby. He thought this is unfair in some way to the mother's original decision to abort the baby as if that's the relevant thing at this point when the child is crying, breathing air, and trying to live.

Please read this one article:
http://tinyurl.com/5cp9jn

And watch this one video* (not graphic):
http://tinyurl.com/5p8e9x

You may not understand Sarah Palin's appeal when compared to Barack Obama. But she has it nonetheless. Some of us value innocent life. We oppose abortion in the way that slavery was opposed in the 1840s and for almost the exact same reason: It's a violation of rights of the person. Indeed, it involves the definition of a person. And why is a baby breathing air in an abortion clinic or hospital not a person?

I'll leave it alone for now and I hope you have a good day.

Love,

Christoph

* The video has the added bonus of showing Fox News giving, well -- "Fair and Balanced" coverage. The same type of coverage some people think they're getting from much of the media, who, by strange coincidence according to studies, vote Democratic by something like a 90% margin.

---
My friends, quoting John McCain when talking about people who may not necessarily be his friends, some have wondered why I care who wins your election. I have many motivators, but the above is my prime one.

It's just like many of you who feel sickened by China's one child policy. If you could do something to stop it, would you? Would you at least like to try to help in some small way even if it mightn't work?

Same with me, and in this case about infanticide in addition to abortion.

I look at myself similar to the Canadian anti-slavery activists while your country still had slavery. (The analogy isn't perfect, not least of which because we also have abortion presently, which I oppose.)

Or the ones from Britain, even the great legislator William Wilberforce.

Yes, they were from different lands, but their efforts reached far and wide and had impact beyond their lands. For the good of humanity. Like your countrymen and women have had impact beyond your lands... you must humbly admit.

I'm not perfect. Far from it. But I oppose the barbaric acts of harming innocent children. Since Barack Obama wants to sign the so called Freedom of Choice Act as his first priority according to his words, can you see why I would want to, emotionally, prevent him from harming innocent children even if they are in your country?

And your country's political trends directly rub off on mine.

I hope you'll forgive me for explaining myself here, unbidden, and for my motivation, and my efforts.

With that, I return you to your regularly scheduled programming: Exposing Barack Obama's disastrous attempt to destroy your coal and related industries!

Unless I missed more earlier in the speech, who is writing his speeches, he needs to say that Obama mentioned bankrupting the industry, that Obama says one thing to your face and another to the San Francisco Chronicle, and that Obama admits to lying because coal is an ideological issue that can be used against him. 336 new rnc ad up at powerlineblog.com highlighting Obama's constantly changing and shrinking definition of rich!

The commercial asks, "Think it doesn't effect you?"

No, but it may Affect me.

If anyone is going to promote this as the best thing since sliced bread, could the spelling be corrected first?

Posted by: Christoph at November 02, 2008 12:27 PM (hawOV)

341 Whoa, indeed. I hope I didn't do that. I've been working on the skull. It disappeared, and I got it back up, and was trying to center it.

This moveable type system is very very touchy!

Posted by: Nice Deb at November 02, 2008 12:30 PM (Yccrl)

342 I used your code, Christoph, to center it. I don't dare go in there and try again.

Posted by: Nice Deb at November 02, 2008 12:31 PM (Yccrl)

343 If McCain would just attack the credibility of the media in an ad blasting their incompetence, I honestly believe it would resonate with a shit load of voters. They need to recap the primaries and general election and play a bunch of highlights of the bias one after another. From keith olberman and chris matthews comments about hillary to campbell brown and the rest of the assaults on palin and mccain. Just pile them up in an ad and add the info about how people dont trust the news anymore and the other poll that rated fox the most balanced station. End the ad with something like "Punish the media, vote mccain-palin." Everyone knows the media has been biased, but people have short memory spans. They need a reminder.

344 Christoph, that happened to me earlier today too.  Then they all reappeared.  Hmmm....has Ace surfaced yet?

345 Who keeps screwing up the centering? I put in the html tags twice, and they disappeared twice. So I added the tags the third time, and now it's centered.

Does someone not want Hothead McFlame centered?

346 Can someone explain how Obama's cap and trade is any different than McCain's plan? Both of the Marx Brothers will bankrupt the coal industry! Obama is just stupid enough to admit it. We're screwed '08

352 The intent of the ban is to protect the environment based on highly disputed models of climate change.  Although not directly comparable, another ban based on bad uniformed political science stopped the use of DDT resulting in about 100 million deaths due to malaria.    That does not even begin to include the misery and suffering of those who were inflicted but survived.

353 That will also generate billions of dollars that we can invest in solar, wind, biodiesel and other alternative energy approaches.

In the meantime we'll just live in our own shit in the freezing darkness here in The One's home district until his "investments" of our money pan out. That'll happen.

Valiant, Dave Axelrod's penis is insufficiently polished. He needs you to add more saliva to it next time.

Hey 'turfers - to the extent McCain is for "cap & trade" it isn't meant for the express purpose of bankrupting an industry.

Posted by: David Ross at November 02, 2008 04:09 PM (/EzfB)

355 " Can someone explain how Obama's cap and trade is any different than McCain's plan?"

Um, because although he spoke favorably of it a long long time ago, he has completely backed off that position, and his currently energy policy proposal (which has been out since July) don't say a word about it?

357 I apologize if this has already been mentioned somewhere. I am in a suburb of Pitt. I just received a McCain robocall stating that the future of the coal industry is in Jeopardy. Then it played the tape of Obama himself saying he will bankrupt the industry. Great move McCain.

358 So, Obama wants to put the money into solar and wind power??  Two forms of power generation that are intermittent at best, not to mention taking up huge amounts of land? (Greenies take note...if you thought the Alaskan pipeline was disruptive to wildlife, these forms of generation take up huge amounts of land, and require lots of road surface to maintain them.  In other words, any land so used would be turned into a huge industrial park).  Sooo...in other words, the electorate will be subjected to blackouts, brownouts, and industry would be curtailed as well?
(Meaning, fewer jobs).

My personal opinion is that Obama and co. wants to make almost all of us poor, and dependent on the government for survival.  Litteraly for survival, as an average American could not afford food, housing or health care without the government, let alone a good education, computers, weapons, etc.  In otherwords, totaltarian control of the population in just 4-8 years.
I think Obama would make even Lenin or Mao envious.

363 We Commiefornians have some experience with SKYROCKETING electricity prices. In the middle of that scam a few years ago electricity sold by the plants into the grid went from $25 to $2500 per megawatt/hr peak. Most of the high dollar megs were never actually paid...lots of bankruptcy related issues and lots of lawyers.

My little local public utility of 10000 meters ate a $8 million crap sandwich though. Years later, the district is still teetering. Electricity is $.145/kwh.
