— Ace Pflaming Pfleger. He says he's been "lied on" a lot. I imagine that's true.
The drug conspiracy bit occurs within thirty seconds (we only had a drug problem once the drugs got out of the places they were supposed to be, i.e., moved into the white community out of the black community where the government planted them), the defense of Farrakhan occurs from 2:00 to 3:00.
This clip is a bit old but has recently been getting attention.
Check him out doing his best Homeboy Accent. It's unbelievably condescending. It's one step away from a blackface minstrel show, for God's sakes.
Oh, and here's the motherfucker talking about America needing to "pay the price" for "raping people of color." This is from the same "sermon" where he cried about "white entitlement."
Interestingly, his point seems to be that America needs to pay the price for raping blacks -- and that horrible price is the election of Barack Hussein Obama to the office of President.
Not exactly reassuring when even Obama's buddy and fellow Farrakhan-loving supporter thinks that Obama does not represent change and hope, but rather payback and punishment, at least for most Americans.

I don't need to watch the first video. I saw Maxine Waters deliver the same speech back in 1991 on CSPAN.

I know Olbermann is just putting on a show and laughing on his way to the bank, but Pfleger? Oh yeah, guv'ment money.
In completely unrelated news, check out what's been happening in Motown this week:
Kwame "vetoed" the city council resolution asking him to step down, ignoring the fact that he has um... no veto powers, and:
Requested a 300 million dollar bond issue backed by casino revenue to fund a 200 million dollar public works program... on the same day the Greektown casino filed for chapter 11.

What the hell is the matter with nearly half of this country? Any candidate - any candidate - of any party and any color and any gender, who would ever associate with these people, giving support to them, and drawing support from them, is de facto proven to be unqualified to even be a Senator of the United States in 2008, much less its President. If they claim ignorance, they are a lying fool, and if they claim repentance they are in addition a moral weakling.
The Democrats have hit rock bottom and, showing off their shiny new shovel, they are digging furiously away toward some unfathomable debasement. Lord help them, and protect us from them.

1. How does Pfleger being a priest of the Chicago archdiocese negate him being a Jesuit? Jesuits are an order of Roman Catholic priests, and Pfleger is a Roman Catholic Priest in Chicago. What am I not understanding about this?
2. Pfleger seems pretty clearly an advocate for reparations in this video bits. Would it now be okay to ask Obama if he, too, thinks reparations are appropriate? Or would that get in the way of the healing, hope and change?

Despite being out there on politics McGovern is a hell of a guy.
He used to own a hotel, now senior housing, with a great bar in it here in Connecticut. Had the best St Pat's days there ever. Always had bagpipes, cheap beer and free corn beef and Irish stew. McGovern was often there and was very sociable.
I am sure McGovern has attended thousands of events with characters like Wright and Pfleger but I doubt he would call them friend, spiritual adviser or moral compass.

You are right though, McGovern was atrocious in the political arena.
My point was that it McGovern wasn't always about the politics, just mostly.
EVERYTHING to Obama, from his childhood to his heritage to his church, is related to or about political advantage. There is no man there, just a political creature, reacting and moving to the political currents.McGovern was 15 years past political ambitions when he owned that hotel, it earned him nothing but a good time being nice.

Awhile back a local NY news station did a poll on the street asking white people in NYC what they thought of reparations. They purposely used a black reporter to try to influence people I think.

McGovern may be one hell of a guy, but his changes to the rules for nomination put the radicals into the driver's seat and wrecked the Democratic Party.
It was a reaction to these changes that led to the creation of the superdelegates in 1982. One of the goals was to give party leaders the ability to head off a popular but radical candidate who could harm the party's prospects. We'll see if they fulfill this mission once the convention starts.

Everyone from Chicago knows this guy. He makes a point of putting himself ahead of the message of his faith at every opportunity. He was empowered by taking advantage of a diocese that was known for leniency and then pushed the limits when the last Cardinal was suffering through a long illness.
He's an embarrassment. Ultimately, he will be defrocked.

Not. Even. Close.
Interesting:
In 1981, Pfleger adopted an eight-year-old son, Lamar, who is now working for Continental Airlines. In 1992, he adopted another son, Beronti, who currently attends the University of Central Florida. In 1997, Pfleger became the foster father to Jarvis Franklin, who was killed by stray gunfire on May 30, 1998.[3]
He's done some good work in Chicago. The notoriety he gained from that seems to have gone to his head.

I work with an Obama true believer. I asked her about this latest mess, and the cumulative effect it should be having on his candidacy. She said, paraphrasing, that:
A) If you listen to the messsage behind the bombast, none of these people (Wright, Pfleger, Ayers, and of course, Obama himself) are pretty much right
B) Obama himself is not saying this stuff, so you can't use it against him
and the kicker
C) McCain is part of the Bush/neocon cabal, his association makes him a war criminal, and this association is much worse than any speech made by a crazy preacher.
In other words, "LALALALA I CAN'T HEAR YOU!!!"
I hope and pray that the population of people who think like that is shrinking.....

Diocesan priests answer to the bishop. Jesuits generally answer to their Jesuit superiors.
All Roman Catholic priest are not Jesuits. Jesuits belong to an ORDER, the Society of Jesus, founded by Ignatius of Loyola. Dominicans belong to an ORDER founded by St. Dominic. Benedictines and Franciscans belong to ORDERS established by St. Benedict and St. Francis of Assisi, respectively.
A diocesan priest is not attached to an order, and generally does not make the third vow, of poverty, either. He vows only chastity and obedience to the bishop but may own property. Diocesan priests, in fact can be (but almost never are) wealthy men, able to accept inheritances, etc.

Not surprising at all. If there's any after event pics anywhere, I'm betting the place was chock full of litter too. The left has very little respect.
I went to a gun right rally on the lawn of the state house in Tallahassee years ago. There was maybe five thousand people there according to the state trooper's estimates. The amount of time needed to clean up after the event broke up? Zero minutes. There wasn't a single scrap of trash on the ground. Everything had found its way into the supplied garbage cans, and not a single flower in the flower beds had been trampled. Everything was left as it had been found.
One of the state troopers I talked with said it was the neatest and most well behaved demonstration he'd ever seen in his life. That the flowers weren't touched at all amazed him. After demonstrations, they routinely expected to have to replace all the flower beds.

MlR, you're right. McGovern piloted a B-24 in Europe during WWII. Which means that he was brave beyond all human comprehension. I won't even attempt to praise him, because praise of military service from a non-veteran like myself is meaningless. Let's just say that I deeply admire the young McGovern.
If George McGovern were to sit down with a gaggle of us morons, I'm sure we'd have a great time. It's just a damned shame - for himself and for our country - that he ever went into politics.

But Barry never was there, ever, when this stuff was yelled and screeched by faggy douchebags that he apologizes that if it offends people, to hear any of it, Barry was never there, ever.
Never. Ever. In fact, Barry went to St. Pat's, really, really did. he was a member of this church, but attended mass elsewhere, with more white people, and less fruits screaming at the altar.

Doesn't look like it. The purpose of the Convention is to select the candidates, but instead it has morphed into an infomercial, and everyone freaks if everything isn't absolutely decided before the Convention. The superdelegates were intended to exercise adult supervision over a runaway party, just as you say, but now we're hearing that it would be a betrayal if they didn't vote in accordance with the popular vote totals. The Democrats have a rational system but they prefer to be ruled by their emotions.

Well, it's been decades since I was in a church, but as I recall the Jesuits are renowned for their scholarship and critical thinking. That's what would make it kind of a surprise if the guy was actually a Jesuit. He just doesn't appear logical enough to have made it through Jesuit education.

Some of you are really behind the curve re Jesuits. The Jesuits veered off to the left a long time ago and never came back. They are no longer the tough but scholarly priests they were once known to be. They are hard-core leftists.
If you want good, old-fashioned, tough-minded Catholicism in a lay organization, look into Opus Dei. I've inquired about joining it may put in my application some time this year.

Yes, Greeley is a left tard. He is also a Quigley/Mundelein graduate, same as Pfeger. However, at least Greeley has publicly complained about the Church's enabling the pedo scandals by actively protecting homosexual priests. By homosexual priests, I mean those who acted like the seminary was a bathhouse and drove straight seminarians out. The Church ended up with a very gay hierarchy which didn't think porking kids was all that big of a deal.

Kensington and GRC also nail it. I quit going to mass at my local parish church because I couldn't take the leftist propaganda/indoctrination coming from the pulpit.
I disagree slightly with GRC concerning Greeley. I have a far dimmer view of the good father. I find him to be an arrogrant, self-righteous, self-aggrandizing jerk. Worse, he's a doctrinaire leftist.
But I do agree with GRC concerning the priesthood's homosexual problem. The perverts in the priesthood were not so much pedophiles as they were predatory homosexual adult men who preyed upon adolescent boys (not children).
For various reasons the priesthood developed a subculture of predatory homosexuals who became quite powerful in their own right and who for a long time committed their vile acts with impunity. In doing so they did incalculable damage to the Church. If I were Satan I couldn't think of a better way of attacking and harming my chief enemy.
Elsewhere, recently, I said that I became a "cafeteria Catholic" because of what the Church has become. I'd like to clarify that statement. I'm a cafeteria Catholic in the sense that I choose orthodoxy over many of the liberal/left practices that are now prevalent in the Church. I reject some (but not all) of the Vatican II changes: or, more precisely, I reject they way they have been interpreted and implemented. And I reject the leftist/liberal politicization of the mass which not seems dangerously close to becoming normalized and institutionalized.
Also, I don't regard masturbation as a sin. So sue me.

I never defended Greeley. As far as I'm concerned, he's no different than Pfeugler. I only commented that he was outspoken about the priest scandals and openly criticized the seminaries for creating and enabling the problem.

There are regularly anti-Catholic and anti-Christian comments on this blog with nary a ban-hammer in sight.
Aw, heck, let the heathens rage. They're the ones going to hell, not us. (Thanks to Pudie for the line).
Nice Deb: Hi right back at you!
GRC: No worries.

He's been at a mostly to all Black congregation for over thirty years. It's not so much that he's putting on a "homeboy accent" a la the Goracle, that's how he preaches.
That having been said, what he preaches is appalling and very, very wrong.
A sabbatical to, say, the Diocese of Antarctica would be correctional, methinks.

Yeah, yeah, I've bitched about HotAir before... But after reading Ed Morrisey's entry from yesterday--which, to me, amounted to little more than "the Republican Party would be pretty cool if it weren't for those stoopit xtians"--and the comments that ensued, I'm fucking done reading HotAir.

It was only a matter of time till this idiot played the victim.
"It's a very difficult situation," he said. "I've received thousands of hate threats."
Let's see, I'm a RC priest who "performs" an ugly, racist and mocking screed from a pulpit no less and now people hate me....who'd a thunk it??????
