Plus: My First Official Non-Ironic Important Action Alert and Pretty Vicious Rant
— Ace At this point I suppose it's absurd to ask why the media isn't interested in such McCarthyesque abuse of power. They can dedicate dozens of reporters to Sarah Palin's supposed abuse of power, but when thug lawyers attached to the Obama campaign begin making threats to use the IRS against organizations unless they fall in line, the media yawns.
He's just "getting in their faces," you know. He's black. Since he has to overcome the inherent racism of US voters, he's allowed to do whatever he wants, no matter how corrupt or creepily illegal.
So another abuse goes unreported.
At least Bill Clinton waited until he was actually president before setting the IRS after political opponents. Barack Obama isn't even waiting for the first debates.
The right blogosphere -- that would be you -- needs a paradigm shift. For a long time we've resisted the activist side of things. Or most of us have, anyway. Many of us are not really comfortable pushing politics on other people.
Including me, and look what I do for a living.
As much as this feels wrong and goes against our basic inclinations, we (and by we I mean you again) have to start getting active -- and annoying. Stories like this have to be emailed to friends. A lot of friends. Not just the Republican ones who may be interested. The Democratic and independent friends who will probably be annoyed to get this kind of a story in their email.
But they do need to start getting them.
Because the media is not going to report these stories. It's that simple. They have decided that this is probably the last election they can possibly rig through their corrupt reportage (and nonreportage), and they've decided they're all-in on this one. What little credibility they have left, they will spend it all to insure as best they can the inauguration of President Barack Hussein Obama.
As Bush said so long ago, "We've earned some political capital. Now we're going to spend it." The media hasn't earned theirs, but what they have left, they're spending it. All of it. This election.
We need then to make our own channels of dissemination of information. The media has choked off all the usual channels, so we must improvise and use the tools we have.
And that's email. And word of mouth.
Not "getting in their faces," as Obama says, but no longer meekly accepting the media as the sole gatekeeper of information transmission, either.
The left has been doing this for years -- and they hardly even needed to, given the fact the media is more excited about President Barack Hussein Obama than the netroots themselves.
If we want to win this thing, we need to do likewise. We don't want to do it. We feel odd about it. We feel, actually, kind of ridiculous about it. But it does need to be done.
The media has made its stance clear. There's no longer any point complaining about it or mocking them. They don't care. They're perfectly willing to take this last hit to their credibility.
We need to become the media now. We need to route around the dead circuits. We need to displace them, once and for all.
Just Got an Email from Joe Biden: No, really.
Talk to undecided voters Our team has built a tool called Neighbor to Neighbor that lets you tap into the power of this grassroots movement right from your home.You can reach out to potential supporters by making phone calls at any time that's convenient for you.
Take this election into your own hands right now by signing up and talking to voters in a crucial battleground state about Barack and our campaign for change.
Right now, this race is neck-and-neck.
And it's all going to come down to what supporters like you do -- or don't do -- in these last 45 days.
The events of the past week have really put into focus what this election is all about.
The failed economic policies of the past eight years have hurt American workers and put our economy on shaky ground. We're up against an opponent who not only supports those policies, but is so out of touch that he actually believes "the fundamentals of our economy are strong."
Millions of Americans are counting on Barack and me to defeat John McCain and deliver the change this country needs -- but we can't do it alone.
Each of us needs to do our part. What's going to win this election for us is organizing on the ground, person-to-person, and growing this movement.
Reach out now to potential supporters and do your part to change this country and move us in a new direction:
http://my.barackobama.com/n2n
Bringing fundamental change to Washington is a big challenge -- but it's never been more important.
Thank you for being part of this movement and working hard to make this country better for all Americans.
Thanks,
Joe
If you want to help fight the nutroots, you can sign up to do a bit of phone-banking for McCain.
Oh: I'm told that we have no proof the lawyers making the threats were formally associated with the Obama campaign.
At the moment, no we don't. But we know damn well they are Obama supporters, and we know the Lightworker has instructed his cultists to "get into their faces."
If those making the threats want to disprove a direct connection to Obama, they can come out of the shadows and make the case they were acting "independently."
But if they're going to do this covertly -- and the media is not going to pursue the story -- I'm comfortable in making all adverse assumptions against the Obama campaign.
That's actually a fair doctrine. If those actually in possession of relevant information refuse to disclose it, the public -- the jury -- is justified in assuming the hidden information is adverse to the parties involved.

If you don't follow politics, you vote for McCain
If you know half the story you vote for Barack
If you know 3/4s of the story, you vote for McCain
If you know the whole story, you dust off and nuke the planet from orbit. It's the only way to be safe.

Ace,
to make matters worse, the AOL homepage has a story about how white racism may cost Obama the election on its rotating headlines window. The study was done in conjunction with Stanford, so who could question its validity or the ovjectivity of the reasearchers.

True story -
A friend who's become a sudden Alinskyite Republican-Basher's been on a tear, not wanting to discuss any of Barack's shortcomings, insisting on coming up with reasons to not vote for Republicans.
He brought up "the Bridge to Nowhere" with a couple of yucks - I finally tee'd off on him - thanks to Patterico's postings:
Look [friend's name] Palin changed the "Bridge to Nowhere" project to a "Road to the Fucking Ferry" project - because the fucking people on the fucking island needed a fucking way to get to the town and a road seemed like a pretty goddamned good idea - so the road wasn't to "nowhere" it went to the water's edge which is where a BOAT which transports CARS would dock and the cars would then drive off the boat and onto the fucking road that Palin had built using the fucking money.
Also, Palin didn't tell "Congress" she didn't want the money - she told Alaska's Congressional Delegation she didn't want the money. The Congressmen from Alaska got the funding for the project.
Get me a beer, jackass.
And he did.
So ace's strategy can work.

They have decided that this is probably the last election they can possibly rig through their corrupt reportage (and nonreportage)...
Would that this were true. The media is the propaganda organ of the Democrat party and they have been for 35 years or so. They have done everything they can to throw elections to the Dems including trying to influence voters in the western US on election day (anyone remember them calling states like NC, which Bush won by like 14 percent as "too close to call" on election night, but calling Florida for Gore while the polls in the western panhandle of the state were still open?)
I'd like to think that people are alert to their BS, but I'm afraid that the MSM knows that as long as they control "the narrative" (and they still do) they can continue to assert a huge influence over far too many or our countrymen.

I'm not working right now and I am going to start next week making phone calls for McCain from home and volunteering for my local GOP congressional candidate. And I am going to sign up for the RNC's 72-hour program, which everyone here should do - it is the highly effective get-out-the-vote effort that probably won Ohio for Bush in 2004. If you do not live in a battleground state they will send you to one and pay your expenses.

I think if we had a big and organized boycott threat to advertisers, then we might get results. But it would have to be BIG and ORGANIZED for it to be effective. Letters to a CEO from a dozen crackpots won't cut it. It will have to be 10,000 or more (non-crackpots). Choose one of the companies that brushes us off and actually boycott their product in a big way. Make the movement well known. Call it something like "Americans for an Honest Media" and present facts of the dishonest media. There are only about a million examples to choose from, already documented on Newsbusters.
We've whined and cried long enough. Time for action.

Seriously, scratch a liberal,find a fascist.
Too long we've sat around going "we can't become them." Talk like that ensures that there will a them and not a we. In 1939 the British didn't want to bomb Hitler's massed weaponry because it would be ungentlemanly. By 1945 they were gleefully dropping firebombs on cities. They didn't stop being Brits when they did that, any less than we stopped being Americans when we nuked Japan. We ensured our contiued existence, and put an END to the bad guys.
This is not to say that we should be committing violence, here. What I am saying is that unilateral disarmament is for losers. I thought McCain was going to do that, and pull a Bob Dole-like 36% of the vote. Instead, he chose to fight.

If you don't mind me suggesting something else -
Annoy the media.
Your friends and liberals who you know might tune you out after a couple e-mails (at least if they're sent cold). What someone could also do, for example, is create a website showing all of the Palin smears that have been reported in mainstream news-outlets (and whether or not those outlets have bothered to issue corrections). In addition, you could e-mail them daily until they issue corrections. Basically, just shove it in their face regarding what they are doing.
This would also give you an easy way to rebut a troll by just posting a link to the site when one of the smears is mentioned on the internet.

Just a couple of tips. Use 'em as you see fit:
Source EVERYTHING. An unsourced assertation is a fart in the wind. If you're doing things via email, cite longhand publication/date/author format. Email spam filters eat link-heavy emails with multiple recipients.
Quote in context. Out of context quotes will give you a temporary advantage, but you look like a dipshit when the context is raised (cf Charlie Gibson.) If you have to quote something out of context to make it fit, don't quote it. It will ALWAYS backfire eventually.
Obama is the opponent, but the MSM is the enemy. Blogs and alternative media exist because the MSM is in dereliction of duty. Point out where they are liars, where they're in the tank for a candidate. Be merciless and savage. The trust of the public is their stock in trade.
Be honest and practice full disclosure. Don't be a moby. Don't pretend toward objectivity. Let whoever it is you're addressing know right away that you're an in-the-bag conservative. Then present your case. Axelrod and the MSM are liars and frauds, and can only be taken down by honesty. Honest disclosure alerts an audience that you're making a good-faith argument and someone who is willing to be persuaded will give you the time of day. If they're a braindead progressive, you won't have to waste your time.
YMMV

A piece of advice for fellow morons here.
Most people don't read political blogs. So the basic stuff we know about is the stuff that most normal Americans who can still have their minds changed don't know about.
~ ABC and Charlie Gibson chopped up Palin's interview, and misquoted her on her prayer?
~ Palin actually supported sex-ed with contraception?
~ William Ayers who?
~ Obama supporters did what to a Chicago radio station?
I think we forget that most people aren't political junkies. (And probably much the wiser for it.) We need to let these folks know that they have been directly lied to by the media, or indirectly by refusing to report the truth.
And important, real life isn't the political blogworld. Don't flame the other side, or try to score a point or "win." Just get your point across. We have the advantage because the facts are on our side.

Cocksuckers.
As I commented a little earlier on Ace's "Warning" post, I don't really mind cocksucker apart from the fact that I see it as an "illogical" insult.
But since some people object to it (especially if it's applied as a slur to a crazy slimeball who also happens to enjoy administering fellatio in real life, such as Andrew Sullivan), might I suggest felcher (or "assfelcher," to perfectly match the "cocksucker" template) as an alternative?
Unlike the objectively low-risk, widely popular, and overall agreeable custom of cocksucking, felching (that is, sucking semen from the anus of someone who has recently been embuggered) has almost nothing going in its favor. Besides being just plain nasty, it takes the venerable metaphors of butt-kissing/brown-nosing to a whole new level; plus it's an extremely bad idea from a medical perspective, since it combines the HIV risk of "barebacking" with the Hepatitis A risk of oral/anal contact; and finally it's considered a weird and fringe-y practice even within the Gay Community™.

What we really need is a conservative take over of a prominent liberal newspaper. I would think that the financial state of the New York Times would make it vulnerable to such a takeover.
Buy the paper, fire the editorial board, make it clear that newspaper reporting will be fair and balanced, and fire anyone who doesn't want to go along with it.
I would think that there would be a conglomerate of billionaire Republicans who could easily put something like this together.
And to those who believe that print newspapers are going to be extinct soon - you are 100% wrong. Democrats are already talking about government subsidies to newspapers because they are "important tools of a free society". Newspapers will not go away.

This time I was able to get as far as "Bush's general deferential attitude towards US laws" before losing interest.
You know, with the surge in Obama trolls I almost missed the old ones.

I was kind of thinking the same thing.
"Hello, I'd like you to completely ignore America of KKKA, God damn America, the wife who's never been proud of her country, some blatant race-baiting, a bunch of other random lies, and a plagiarist, and vote for Obama. Can we talk?"
Nevertheless, I think I'll get down to the local Republican HQ this week and start dialing.

And here is where you dumbasses are at: you'd vote for a dottering paranoic whose VP has merely proved she can drop a moose with a high-powered rifle.
There is a refined logic in your choice. In an ideology whose beliefs never comport with reality, the conservatives must seek the least competent leader to be worthy of the shithole they've turned America into.

What I mean by the preceding "Evangelical Minute" is that I'm far past being amazed at the unfairness and disingenuousness (now there's a good word) of the American press and instead accept my role as one standing on the wall and protecting what is good and right, at least as well as I can discern it. I don't know another way to approach the current state of information dissemination in America than to suggest that you must, must, must know what you believe, and why you believe it, and have the sources to back you up in everyday conversations and blog posts, etc. In other words, conservatives have to be better at arguing and explaining than the other side. Nothing new there.
Remember the last presidential election? We gloated when W won, not because John Kerry is a vile person -- I disagree with him on most things and don't particularly like him, but neither do I particularly hate him -- we gloated because we'd not seen a victory for Bush, or even a defeat of Kerry; we saw a defeat of the MSM.
The MSM doesn't want to repeat that defeat. Embrace the notion that you will forever be called a racist, a rube, an idiot, and evil. Every young person raised in a conservative househould who happened to matriculate in most of America's colleges knows what that feels like. Get over that, and be yourself.
So it comes down to that, I think. Be yourself, proudly, to everyone you meet.
And take Ace's advice and get more involved.

It is just going to get worse and their tactics will too. Email hackers like we just saw with Palin and now Bill O'Reilly's premium member site has been hacked and personal info of members posted at wikileaks or the directive that went out to threaten any conservative venues with criminal charges if they dared be negative on Obama.
I've got my own answer to the "get in their faces" directive which I called the "Lipstick Brigade." Meant it as a joke when I posted, but my sentiment is the same.

How about if we pick one high profile lefty blog a day, and flood the comment section with witty sourced accurate posts where we call BS on the Left?
Put doubt in their minds. Panic. We'll only turn a few, but a few might be enough.

That generally doesn't work, by the way. Wendy McCaw bought the Santa Barbara News Press a few years back and tried that. The crybaby lefties that infest this town freaked out, and before the firings started in earnest, the editorial staff started the unionization process, specifically to throw a poison pill into the process.
You can expect similar temper tantrums with the NYT in that scenario.
Posted by: IllTemperedCur at September 20, 2008 04:38 PM (hA2RJ)
That's fine. You just reassign them to non-editorial duties...like sweeping the floors or checking the spelling in the want ads.
Posted by: Purple Avenger at September 20, 2008 04:46 PM (hzcgO)
No complaints here. The SBNP is worthless anyway. I keep waiting for McCaw to just shut it down overnight, and have the trucks waiting on-site to pull up the presses for scrap. Have the whole thing empty within a week. After cleaning out Craig McCaw in their divorce, she can afford it.

Ace... oh yeah, we know how he feels about white folks:
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=lI77cU3jsFs
Question. Does a black sperm donor make one black?
Raised by white grandparents (granny only good for under the bus);
Obviously granddad and other men on the white side only good for false Nazi liberation stories;
Racist incidents growing up that never happened;
Being introduced to a black, communist, deviant, pederast at a young age;
(read his poem Pop, he has NO love for blacks... except to use them, as he's been used);
Look at his brother in Africa in a hut (that he wants us to throw money to the UN for, not him);
He used the church for his socialism and ladder climbing, while leaving many homeless on the southside... and like Wright with his mil mansion in a gated community, Obama has his 1.6mil home..
We see how easy it was to let that go after so long;
In his book he talks about how blacks will have to suffer to put his plan in place... but whatever, that's the cost (paraphrased);
Palmer, Toni and many that helped him on the way up that were black, have been screwed by him... unless they had the socialist vision and didn't mind him stepping on their necks/using them to make a point.
I have noticed he surrounds himself with other confused mixed characters as well, those in the black community know what that means. Look at Wright, Farrakhan, Val Jarrett, Allison Davis, others. Yes, he has the die hards, but they're used. His elite circle is a whole new matter (where his money comes from, who backs him, who whispers in his ear).

So, the NAACP is no longer tax exempt? How about all the churches that only have one party speak... are they all taxable now too? Of course not. Because the standard claimed by the quote in this story is clearly bullshit.
Oddly the reporter didn't bother to verify if this was factual, or provide any examples... and by oddly I mean "perfectly expected that the Obama-driven media is deliberately avoiding reporting any facts that might make Obama look bad".
Yes, maybe these Democrats who threatened weren't Obama supporters. And maybe I'll get a pony for Christmas this year too, and a Space Shuttle for my birthday.

So, why don't we republicans accept the Obama campaign's call to action and quickly join their N2N intiative here?
Sign up and follow their step-by-step calling instructions, except when you get one of their target voters on the phone you quicky jettison the supplied Obama talkin' points and replace it with a heartfelt rendition of why McCain-Palin, the mavericks who can actually shake things up in Washingon and deliver real change - are the best team for the job.

Now you understand why liberal Clinton Democrats are voting for McCain/Palin
Hmm....no, I'd say liberal Clinton Democrats now have an opportunity to understand what it has been like the last several decades to be a Conservative Republican.
Welcome to our world liberal Clinton Democrats, we have been dealing with the progressive left tyranny a hell of a lot longer than Hillary's two year campaign for President.
I would also add that after this stunt pulled by Democrats, after Sandra Bernhard, Bill Maher, Naomi Klein etc etc it is fair to say that Jews are no longer the most persecuted people on the planet...I think it fair to say that the most persecuted are evangelicals (which I think are really Baptist however Jimmy Carter was a Baptist so I think the Left created the term Evangelical in order to persecute that which they hate the most)

I told her that Sarah Palin was the only political woman I could think of who had made it without the coattails of a husband or father. Think Clinton, Pelosi, Feinstein, Dole, Boxer, et. al. Palin joined the friggin' PTA, for God's sake. That was all it took for Mom to fall in love. Admittedly, she's always seemed easy in that department. But I guarantee that's tea-time conversation tomorrow. Try it.

I am a fiscal conservative, a free-market guy, and a proponent of military force when necessary, so I'm a Republican in the traditional sense. But over the past decade, I have become disillusioned by the ridiculous, overtly false and deceptive tactics that Republicans have adopted as part of their "grassroots strategy." When Republican bloggers and media circulate verifiably false claims about Obama's views on whites, for example, they are no better than Obama's lawyer thugs. What's worse, the Republican base makes no bones about it, and are almost proud of being indiscriminate in their decisions. It's a shame, because I thought our country stood for more than that. I would expect that Republicans, who proudly proclaim to be "country first," would maintain the higher level of integrity.
