Obama Plans To Be President For "The Next 8 To 10 Years"
— DrewM

Obama is either very bad at math, does not know how long the President's term of office is or he's planning on repealing the 22nd Amendment.

Here he is talking about his sold out world tour.

"(T)he objective of this trip was to have substantive discussions with people like President Karzai or Prime Minister Maliki or President Sarkozy or others who I expect to be dealing with over the next eight to 10 years.

And it's important for me to have a relationship with them early, that I start listening to them now, getting a sense of what their interests and concerns are."

Unfortunately, comedy writers across America still can't find anything funny about the guy.

And it's important for me to have a relationship with them early, that I start listening to them now, getting a sense of what their interests and concerns are."

My take on that bit of the quote is that he's not 'dealing with them' now, just getting a sense of how he will need to deal with them, which negates the obvious explanation he will give that he was adding the time from now up until the election and then just rounding up to 10 years instead of throwing out a messy fraction like 'eight to nine and a half years'.

You know you can hear it coming now; that this will be his line of reasoning.  Pre-empting everything because he already takes for granted that he's ascended to the presidency.

4 I read somewhere on the intertubes the other day that the Messiah was taking this trip under the auspices of the senate committee he chairs. Not sure if that's true or not, but based on the statement above, his campaign better damned well be paying the bills.

9 Yep. From the ABC News political radar blog:

The upcoming trip (with stops in Afghanistan and Iraq) is, after all, a "congressional delegation" sponsored by the Foreign Relations Committee.  And Obama is the chairman of the European Affairs Subcommittee, which we all know by now oversees the Europe-encompassing alliance NATO.

So unless he's talking about dealing with these guys for the next 8 or 10 years as a U.S. Senator, I think Barry's got some 'splaining to do.

102 If he is elected twice, he would be dealing with these presidents and other heads of states for more than eight years.  First, Obama does not strike me as a man who respects his opponents, but instead as one who will start trying to make deals and alliances with foreign heads of state as soon as the election results are in, tradition, propriety, and even the rules be damned.  He is also unlikely to give up power easily, and will continue to attempt to influence the world and the united states as Jimmy Carter has been doing recently.  He's not a dumb man, you can't get to this level of politics by being an idiot.  He's actually quite intelligent, he just makes the occasional flubs and speaks without thinking.  Despite all we heard at the beginning of this election cycle, he's NOT a great orator.  He's a good speaker, though, when he has the words written down before hand and is just parroting them back.  In fact, he seems remarkably like George W. Bush in that respect.  When in small gatherings, such as with important leaders, Bush speaks carefully and intelligently.  When he's in front of a crowd speaking from the hip, as it were, he stumbles.  The big difference is that Obama is a Democrat so most of the flubs go unreported.

Posted by: MikeTheLibrarian at July 21, 2008 12:23 PM (2keKb)

103

Obama never said he’d be President for 10 years. Dealing with people can extend past the end of a President’s term(s) in office. Just because nobody will take W’s calls when he leaves office in January 2009 is no reason to believe that life ceases upon leaving the White House.

If you’re really worried about candidate misstatements, how about this beauty from McCain on “Good Morning America” on July 21. When questioned about the seriousness of the situation in Pakistan, McCain replied: “We have a lot of work to do, and I'm afraid that it's a very hard struggle, particularly given the situation on the Iraq-Pakistan border.”

Exactly, Senator McCain. The first struggle will be to try to find the Iraq-Pakistan border, which doesn’t exist since the two countries don’t border on one another.

Maybe one of them is near Czechoslovakia, Senator McCain? You've been commenting how Russia has been hassling Czechoslovakia (twice last week) when Czechoslovakia hasn't existed in 15 years.

And McCain can't understand the difference between Sunnis and Shias, even when Joe Lieberman practically crawled inside McCain's ear, trying to explain the difference.

104 Wow, this guy could be Leader of the Free World for 8-10 years. o_O May God save and continue to Bless America, 'cause our political system sure isn't doing it right now.
So, where/when/how is he planning to obtain those other 2 years?

Dude, you should know better than to bring your weakassed shit here.  The morons aren't as nice to the mentally challenged as the yankee's commentors.

Duh.  People in all 57 states know this.

108 Re Number 40 above: My understanding is that the fight for presidential term limits was led by the Republicans. They were the ones that didn't want another FDR. As for the Messiah getting more than 2 terms, remember that Barney Frank tried to repeal the Whatever-Amendment-It-Is so that the last asshole Democrat could serve for more than 2 terms. Does anyone doubt that the Messiah won't run for a third? After he finishes the first two, of course.

109 I cannot believe all of this talk about Obama being Messiah like or even The Messiah himself. All of you need to read "The End Of Days The Warning"

250 Nice articles, but I am not clear about the point you mentioned about how to distinguish fake and real cheap louis vuitton.

You seem to be professional about louis vuitton, can you advise where to buy real louis vuitton bags?

I’d love to discuss louis vuitton outlet, but I am not sure if you really have one.

This louisvuitton is so unique, and I never see it’s sold in the LV stores, where did you get this one please?

This lv outlet is just come out this spring show, it’s a totally new style of lv outlet, worth to buy.
