— Ace We're losing jobs at a seriously badwrong clip, but President Crazy-Talk assures us, without citing any support, that his Spendulus has already "saved or created" 150,000 jobs.
In related news, this blog has "saved or created" 600,000 jobs.
I have as much evidence for this "fun fact" as Obama.
I will be "saving or creating' additional jobs every day until the press actually gets around to questioning President Telebluffer about the color of the skies in his world.
These are my demands.

IT is amazing that 600k jobless claims every week occur yet the press DIDNT EVEN ASK the ONE about his unsupportable, lying horseshit claim re 150K jobs "saved or created"

Combined with the previously announced reductions of 2,600 employees, Cessna will now be laying off at least 4,600 in 2009.
Of the cuts, 4,000 will come from Wichita, including the 500 layoffs announced in November and the 2,000 earlier this month, says Cessna Spokesman Doug Oliver. The company will also be letting go 200 people from its facility in Independence, Kan.
I wonder how those guys took the news of Obama's 150,000 success.

But the road-building money in the stimulus bill should pay immediate dividends in forestalling worse joblessness in the months ahead, the White House maintains.
"Transportation projects that were once on hold are now starting up again as part of the largest new investment in America's infrastructure since President Eisenhower built the interstate highway system," the president said today, appearing alongside Transportation Secretary Ray LaHood.
Some of the jobs are attributable to direct spending by the government on roads, bridges, schools, and other infrastructure, the White House says.
Part of that is the $28 billion dedicated for highway construction, with the money allocated to states offering "shovel-ready" projects.
"It is also worth noting that jobs in highway construction tend to pay better than average," the White House said in a statement.
"The typical, or median hourly wage for all jobs in the economy was $15.10 in 2007," the White House said, citing Bureau of Labor statistics. "But for workers in the highway industry, the typical hourly wage was $18.31, a premium of over $3 per hour over the economy-wide median wage."
The government's direct spending on construction of new roads and repair of older roads will provide for work for those who could have lost it due to spending cuts, the White House says -- about 95,000 of the estimated jobs.
The secondary impact comes from what workers will have to spend on groceries, clothing and other goods, the White House maintains -- an impact that promises an estimated 55,000 jobs.

WASHINGTON (CNNMoney.com) -- In a prime-time news conference on Wednesday night, President Obama touted his efforts to rebuild the economy in his first 100 days in office, while also stressing that he's no fan of "meddling" in the private sector.
Obama began the press conference by noting his economic recovery plan has already saved or created 150,000 jobs.
When asked about the administration's intervention in the banking and auto industries, Obama emphasized several times that he's not interested in running private companies and is looking toward the long-term goal of getting the industries back on their feet.

OBAMA: "We began by passing a Recovery Act that has already saved or created over 150,000 jobs." -- from news conference.
THE FACTS: This assertion is dubious on several levels. For starters, the U.S. has lost more than 1.2 million jobs since Obama took office, according to the Bureau of Labor Statistics. Even if Obama's stimulus bill saved or created as many jobs as he says, that number is dwarfed by the number of recent job losses.
But Obama's number is murky, at best. The White House has not yet announced how it intends to count jobs created by the stimulus bill. Obama's number is based on a job-counting formula that his economists have developed but have not made public. Until that formula is announced --probably in the coming week or so -- there's no way to assess its accuracy.
Whatever the formula, economists who study job creation say it will require some creative math. That's because Obama has lumped "jobs saved" in with "jobs created." Even economists for organizations that stand to benefit from the stimulus concede it probably is impossible to estimate saved jobs because that would require calculating a hypothetical: how many people would have lost their jobs without the stimulus.

Here's the White House official lie re 150K jobs. 95K from road construction, 55K from increased consumer spending.
Yeah- road construction never, ever picks up dramatically in the Spring without a "stimulus" bill. That every other freaking road, highway or goat path here in MN is under construction every year after Winter is over means nothing- this time it was all Obama's doing.
Unbelieveable- the press won't dare ask questions, letting him spew bullshit unchecked. I'd ask how stupid he thinks people are, but then again he did manage to get himself elected, so I'm afraid we already know the answer.

I agree. You see, people are making plans based on what the president says he wants to do. You know, cap-and-trade, universal health care, hate crimes ($$$ for lawyers) bills, etc., etc. They know it's a disaster for them and for the world economy, so they sock their money away in a mattress. If Obama had lost the election, we would be looking at a very mild recession. Perhaps we would even be even in a period of anemic growth by now. Not likely with McCain, but maybe he gets an advisor who isn't stupid.
But here's the deal, honest cloud. On July 24, 2009, the minimum wage is going up 70 cents to $7.55/hr. One of two things will happen. Either there will be massive unemployment due to automation or businesses just closing down or the Obamaflation will make that increase useless. Either way, I wouldn't want to be in the White House when that hits the fan.

If Bush had said this, they would have written that he began his press conference by CLAIMING his economic recovery plan has already saved or created 150,000 jobs.

WASHINGTON In forcing a swift bankruptcy on Chrysler, President Barack Obama expanded the risk and reach of the presidency in the hope that the hidebound auto industry will find a way to remake itself.
The government's intervention with Chrysler LLC and General Motors Corp. has been far more intrusive than the way it has confronted troubled financial companies. The administration's influence now ranges from guaranteeing your brake pads to pushing for new products on the assembly line.
As Obama himself put it, "If the Japanese can design an affordable, well-designed hybrid, then, doggone it, the American people should be able to do the same."
Despite an additional $8 billion taxpayer infusion into Chrysler, the president and his advisers say the administration has no desire to be in the auto business. And they say they don't intend to micromanage the company.
But as part of Thursday's arrangement, the government will be an investor in the new Chrysler company, and the Treasury Department will select four of its new directors, all of them presumably sympathetic with the White House's vision of what the car of the future should be.

Folks:
I abandoned a successful legal career to become a business owner. Closed on 12/06/07, and took over the business (cleaning services). I had tired of working/representing/opposing with assholes.
My employees are salt of the earth, god-fearing, hard working people. Given that I have tried to keep everyone employed while not having taken a paycheck myself since November.
I have not laid anyone off, nor reduced their pay, but I am the one that is suffering.
I'm in the position where I need to liquidate a portion of my 401(k) to maintain operations and, hopefully, ride out the recession. I'm willing to do this because I believe in my business and want to take care of my employees.
Call me an idiot if you choose, but in the end I believe in capitalism and will prevail.

I love the whole Bush Bush Bush Bush Bush thing you liberals do. (Thats the whole strategy right Bush=Unpopular so keep making Bush=conservative) well in reality Bush=gone. I by the way didn't vote for him either time. To liberal for me. I knew those defense cuts he proposed would be trouble. Along with his spendaholic ways. But how did we solve that problem, with a worse spendaholic, that decides to make the same mistakes that got us pelted. Sure print money, spend it on programs, put the whole country to work for the government. Roosevelt did two things with his method for "combating" the depression, prolonged it, and created a dependent class that would vote democratic for decades. That's what it's really about isn't it. You can admit it. No one can see your real name. It's not about our economy getting better, peoples lives being better, it's about a permenant majority so you can push absolute economic equality, just like the Cubans, Chinese, and North Koreans have.
"You're a joke. Clinton being offered OBL has been debunked years ago. It's total bullshit." Maybe you should go edit Wikipedia then

The humorlessness of the far left has always struck me as one of its greatest weaknesses. People like to laugh, they like to smile, they like to be joyful, and an awful lot of hardened leftists seem almost utterly incapable of doing any of these things. It's as if they have all taken a pledge that there should be no laughter until the revolution, or some such shit. No positivity, no hope, no happiness so long as people are still poor and exploited, and victimized by United States militarism, or performing as wage slaves for global capital, or eating meat, or driving cars. That's why the left is so weak. ex: Duh Cloud.
It's as if much of the left has become co-dependent with despondency, addicted to its own isolation, and enamored of its moral purity and unwillingness to work with mere wingnuts. In the name of ideological asceticism, they spurn the hard work of movement building and snicker at those foolish enough to not understand or appreciate their superior philosophical constructs, and then act shocked when their movements and groups accomplish exactly nothing.

Ha, Ha,..... you didn't actually think we'd let you get any power out of that Vette now, did ya' hutch.
Fuck no,..... it'll be a 4 cycle and without a powerband at that, so suck it.
On the plus side a urinal will be installed in each drivers side seat so that you'll not only be able to relieve yourself while driving, but it will also cool the engine and in the whole process be delivered back to the occupant in a wholesome tasty beverage.
Give us year or two and we'll see what we can do about the dueces. Maybe something Snickered flavored, since it's got nut's and well...... so does shit sometimes. Of course we'll have to work on the occasional corn kernel after that, but it's early.

Hey JackStraw,
Just answer the question.
What the fuck does your false accusation against Clinton have to do with Bush ignoring the warnings and allowing 3,000 to be slaughtered?
And why are you so afraid to fondle a trucker's ballsack in a public restroom? I'm so hetero that I do it all the time and I'm not even tempted to turn gay.

207 comments and counting...
I was wondering at first if honest cloud was simply chumming the waters trying to be funny. Now I don't think so.
He's an incurious idiot. Not ignorant, an idiot.
He's apparently forgotten (along with some R's) that his precious dem's have essentially controlled congress since 2004, via the fillibuster in the senate.
The situation that we find ourselves immersed in was caused by Congress as a whole, not by a single party. Or person.
I think it was Bismark who said that politics was the art of the possible...if you don't have the votes, it ain't possible. And, if you're the president, you deal with what's possible, not what you desire, unless you're BHO.
Then you simply deal with signing shit and doing paperwork and stuff. And let other people tote the bale, so to speak. Like Pelosi and Reid...so for you can blame them later if things don't work out like you said you planned.
So, honest cloud, google short selling and naked short selling in July of 2008, and come back and tell us after study that it's G. W's fault we're in the trouble we're in.
'Cause we're stupid effing wingnuts here, we are.
AAAARRRGH!!!eleventy!!!

It takes a rare kind of imbecility to blame "Bush" for the financial crisis caused by 25 years of government meddling in the mortgage markets. Dishonest Clod seems not to know anything about the repeal of Glass-Stegal, about mark-to-market imposed by Sarbanes-Oxley, about the Fed's loose money, about The Community Reinvestment Act, about Barney Frank and Chris Dodd (and Barack Obama) taking huge campaign donations from Freddie and Fannie) while pushing back attempts to rein in their criminal management and their unsustainable lending practices, and all the other shenanigans our political "masters" engaged in to lead us to this crisis
Nahhhh...it's all "Bush".

Right because after the fact. Parties (politicians) who could have averted the attack would jump up and say "OOOPS MY BAD WE HAD OUR CHANCE BUT I PASSED IT UP"
So what your saying is. A man who had very little to gain claims to have offered Bin Laden to the US. And those that had a lot to gain by denying it denied it. And you call this credible argument? Go fight it out with Wiki then. Their sources look pretty solid to me. Even if the 9/11 commission (government commissions so reliable near infallible in fact) found in the neutral.
Bush did contribute to that problem with his moderate stance on defense. But I put the blame on the guy who spent eight years doing nothing not eight months. If Bush had been more conservative off the get go he MIGHT have had a chance to see this coming.

They do hate that they lost to Bush twice. I've even seen them try to claim they beat him this last election. When you ask them what the hell they mean by that, they say, oh we beat Bush. We beat his kind. (They beat another guy who lost to Bush, but facts, you know). More comedy stylings from the angry left.

Cause only a complete dribbling moron didn't -already know-, without that memo, that "Osama Bin Laden wants to attack the US". This was only news to dipshits like you.
On the other hand, we have it straight from Clinton's mouth that he got that offer of Bin Laden, and you continue to deny it, despite the fact that we have it on freaking audio tape. This makes you not even worth talking to.
To the AoSHQ mod team: Once upon a time, I said "let the troll stay, he's fun". I hereby withdraw this request. This guy is intellectually dishonest to the extreme, and that's not fun, that's just obnoxious.

You idiots don't understand anything. My intelligence is so great that the gravitation field of the earth is altered by my presence.
Its been debunked that the Rosenbergs passed secrets to the Russians.
Its a total lie that Saddam fed people to shredders.
Only fools believe Stalin didn't wish us well.
We created Bin Laden and if only we had listened to Clinton he'd be dead.
John Kerry was an honest to good war hero.
The fact that Clinton reformed intelligence so effectively that the US couldn't deal with Bin Laden is proof positive that Bush is evil.

I am so morally superior to you retards that I'd sacrifice ten million of you bible thumpers rather than allow torture to be committed in my name even if such an act could save ten million from some man made act. Why you're all to blame for the world hating us, if only you'd listen to your intellectual superiors, like me, the world would love us.
Why I couldn't care if the entire US was reduced to ash if it meant we were reduced to putting insects into someone's cell. How gross. It makes me want to wet my panties.

In just three months Obama saved 150,000 x 3 months jobs.
3 months = 1/4 a working year.
50 working years = a working life.
So Obama, by his self-acclimation,just saved 750 working lives.
Posted by: Druid at April 30, 2009 04:16 PM (nFeDb)
40 working hours / working week.
50 working weeks / working year.
50 working years / working life.
Gives us 100,000 working hours / working life.
Minimum wage is currently $6.55 per hour.
Gives us $655,000 per working life.

@117: "Let's face it: Law school has no dissertation, no mathematics, only 3 years and no competition from foreign students and their subsidized undergraduate educations."
You know why there are relatively fewer foreign students in law school, genius? Law varies from nation to nation. Unless a foreign student plans on either living in the US for the rest of his days, or perhaps working for an overseas business that has to regularly deal with US law, there's no point in going to law school *here*. They'd be better served staying home and learning the law that they actually will have to practice. Do you also wonder why there are so few French people coming here to major in French?
Even simple minded antelopes like Honest Cloud get it - you don't like lawyers. Fair enough, I don't either, and I have to work with them every day. But give it a rest already; you're not even beating a dead horse anymore, you're just beating some dessicated bones and residual cytoplasm.

If Bush had said this, they would have written that he began his press conference by CLAIMING his economic recovery plan has already saved or created 150,000 jobs.
Using the word "noted" presents the statment as fact.
