Obama Camp: Yeah He Was Lying About That Abortion Bill
— DrewM

Obama's been getting a lot of heat for opposing the Illinois version of the federal Born Alive Act, which would have provided protections for babies that survived an attempted abortion.

His campaign now says he opposed the bill because it would have undermined Illinois abortion law.

The funny thing is, as recently as Saturday Obama claimed that he only opposed the bill as a state Senator because it didn't include language that would have prevented it from undermining Roe v. Wade.

Brody: Real quick, the Born Alive Infant Protection Act. I gotta tell you that's the one thing I get a lot of emails about and it's just not just from Evangelicals, it about Catholics, Protestants, main -- they're trying to understand it because there was some literature put out by the National Right to Life Committee. And they're basically saying they felt like you misrepresented your position on that bill.

Obama: Let me clarify this right now.

Brody: Because it's getting a lot of play.

Obama: Well and because they have not been telling the truth. And I hate to say that people are lying, but here's a situation where folks are lying. I have said repeatedly that I would have been completely in, fully in support of the federal bill that everybody supported - which was to say --that you should provide assistance to any infant that was born - even if it was as a consequence of an induced abortion. That was not the bill that was presented at the state level. What that bill also was doing was trying to undermine Roe vs. Wade. By the way, we also had a bill, a law already in place in Illinois that insured life saving treatment was given to infants.

There's only one small problem, Obama actually voted for an amendment (that passed) which added the same exact language the federal bill included to protect Roe and yet he still voted against the full bill in his committee.

How extreme was this vote? The federal version of the bill passed the Senate unanimously.

So to recap, Mr. New Politics, Mr. Let's Have Less Abortions, voted against a bill identical to that which passed the US Senate with the support of pro-choice politicians, then he lied about it while accusing others of lying about his position. And to top things off, he has now come up with a new and equally implausible reason for his opposition to mandating care for infants that survive an abortion.

There's only one name for a man who can do all of this...Captain Bullshit!

BTW-Andrea Mitchell just left me a teary voice mail. The only thing I could make out between the sobs was, "Leave Barack Alone!"

2 Maybe, he didn't knowingly lie but is just a crappy lawyer who didn't understand the meaning of the proposed law?

4 This is one thing I do not understand about Obama and his handlers.
How can someone be lying if all they do is show the bills and how you voted?
No commentary is even needed. To lie someone needs to say something right?
It's pure idiocy to use this excuse. He would have been better off saying that was one of the days I inhaled.

6 You don't understand. He voted for the neutrality language insertion or, ah, penetration into the bill. Then after some vigorous committee intercourse, he voted against the bill immediately afterwards anyway, or pulled out as it were. He was personally committed to both the conception and abortion of the bill, so he in fact can be on both sides of it. But he'll call you later in the week, can he get your number? He's kinda busy now, but he can't wait to see you again. He's not like those other guys.

9 We all know that everyone lies. Many a Democratic troll has told us that over and over. We also know that everyone accuses the others of lying. Republicans, Democrats, Libertarians and even the Green Party all accuse others of lying. So there's only one thing here that everyone doesn't do. Everyone doesn't vote against saving babies lives when they are born after a botched abortion. No Republican or Libertarian has ever voted against saving babies lives. Only Democrats and maybe the Green Party. No matter what Obama says, he still voted to kill that bill. Obama voted to keep killing babies after botched abortions.

Bravo MSM. Once again you have picked the absolute best man to be your Democratic Party candidate.

14 Stop Swiftboating Obama! He clearly meant that deciding where life begins is above the paygrade of a state legislator or President. It's clearly only a job for US Senators and the Supreme Court.

Senator Obama believes in Roe v Wade.  Stop bringing up irrelevant distractions about how Obama voted against medical care for babies.  It's that kind of divisiveness that prevents America from uniting together to elect Obama president.  You and John McCain should stop dividing America!

"Let me clarify this yet again, this is my position as we know it right now. I do not support the clubbing of botched aborted babies, but if you want to throw them into a trash compactor, I have no problem with that as it has been John McCain's and Dick Lugar's position for years and we have worked in a bipartisan manner for this."

This is turning into The Decade of Barry.

17 By the way, am I the only one who can often no longer see the imbedded .jpgs in posts?  I just see "bsman.jpg".  I'm using Firefox, and I get it even if I turn NoScript off.  I get even worse behavior when I fire up IE to check it out, red X boxes all over.

I'd say it's been this way for about a month or so.  Not totally consistent though, sometimes I can see them.

18 To clarify that last post's "sometimes I can see them", it is consistent for a -given- .jpg, if I can't see it once, I'll never see it.  Occasionally an imbedded one does show up though, and if it shows, it'll always show.

Qwinn, new site is being a biatch with embedded .jpgs.  You can see them on old site, and if you happen to see them there, you'll probably see them here thereafter (I assume they're cached at that point).

It's issue number 14 on the New Site Bitch List.

20 Qwinn,

You're not the only one.

I use Firefox at home and and work and have just resigned myself to the fact that I am missing out on some of the good stuff here at AoS.

21 Dave, thanks for the reply.  Unfortunately, I don't see them on the old site either, even after I clear my cache.  I still get just the "bsman.jpg".

22 I posted this above, but watch the youtube - it defines BO's campaign to a tee. Here's where I sound like teh ghey but so be it. In the movie and (better yet) the stage musical "Chicago" there's a terrific number called : "We Both Reached for the Gun". http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=SBM82Ju2kJU I can never see/hear Obama speak without thinking of this scene. It has everything the Obama campaign has: the inarticulate speaker, the handlers saying what he really means, and the complete roll over by the press for the spin. For any libtards, who read this - Obama would be Roxie Hart(the girl in the scene). Listen to BO's Saddleback performance, the handlers spin, the press's compliance then watch the scene - you'll laugh like a retard.

23 This should kill Obama.  The problem is that this can't be explained quickly and in simple enough terms for the 50% of the country below the intelligence mean.

Unfortunately, it'll be ignored unless someone can package it correctly.

26 Qwinn, the new site has all the good stuff and none of your comments. Um, that came out wrong. What I meant to say was "Leave or die!"

Nope, that wasn't exactly what I meant either. I guess you should keep 2 browsers open, one on the old site and one on the new. No, 4 browsers. Two Firefox and 2 Internet Explorer.

- What about the versions? Which version of IE and Firefox?
