— Ace Selling out.
Doesn't it make more sense to keep the valuable real estate and profitable shares in sports franchises and sell the thing that's actually losing money, i.e., the frickin' newspaper itself?
But that would mean that "Pinch" would have to seek a job from employers who are not blood relatives. And I think we know how that would go.

Proves again that a Liberal Captain can sink any ship at all. What's next? Makes one wonder about when Obama, Barney Frank & crewe take the helm. Me, I'm fasting until they wise up ... perhaps I'll become a martyr.

The problem is that the Times organization can't continue to do so much longer, and once the fat dividends end there WILL be a rebellion amongst the families. Maybe at that point whomever is the captain of the ship will actually run it to be profitable rather than a news-gateway for liberals.

You only read the editorials, Dennis?

The fanblog "Was Watching" (put up by Yankees fan Steve Lombardi) has been hacked by Islamic hackers.
It's hardly a political site, so I have no idea why they did this, but there it is.
Just Google "Was Watching", and the 1st two links lead to the site (and no, I don't know Steve, and I'm not trolling for hits).
The 2nd link gives you one example post called "No Pressure, Joba, Really". If you want to see the hacking, click the "Home" link on that page, or just go to the 1st Google link.
Maybe they just hate the Yankees as well as the Israelis.
I dunno.

First, degrade the asset, then impair it with a screwy preferred shareholder structure and finally, have the fire sale. I tried and tried over the years to read that POS, but just couldn't bring myself to do it. So it went straight to the puppy's housetraining efforts. He couldn't read it, either.

Within New York City itself, both the New York Post and NY Daily News actually have a larger circulation than the NY Times.

Once they shutter The Grey Lady, I hear Hamas is offering to put em' up rent free. Unfortunately thanks to the Joo's it'll have to be in a camel stable for right now.

I'd love to have enough surplus cash laying around to be able to buy the NYT, and close the damn thing.
The last issue ever would be a multiple-pages apology to the American people for all the anti-American crap the NYT has printed over the years. That would be certain to cause more than a few moonbat heads to explode.

NEW YORK (Reuters) - Connecticut lawmaker Frank Nicastro sees saving the local newspaper as his duty. But others think he and his colleagues are setting a worrisome precedent for government involvement in the U.S. press.
Nicastro represents Connecticut's 79th assembly district, which includes Bristol, a city of about 61,000 people outside Hartford, the state capital. Its paper, The Bristol Press, may fold within days, along with The Herald in nearby New Britain.
That is because publisher Journal Register, in danger of being crushed under hundreds of millions of dollars of debt, says it cannot afford to keep them open anymore.
Nicastro and fellow legislators want the papers to survive, and petitioned the state government to do something about it. "The media is a vitally important part of America," he said, particularly local papers that cover news ignored by big papers and television and radio stations.
Many media experts predict that 2009 will be the year that newspapers of all sizes will falter and die, a threat long predicted but rarely taken seriously until the credit crunch blossomed into a full-fledged financial meltdown.Posted by: TheQuietMan at December 31, 2008 02:25 PM (J/1XI)

"...could he gives us the possibility of Vicky Iseman enjoining the sale of the BoSox until her suit is settled?"
You'd need a pre-judgment writ of attachment, which is extremely hard to get. No way would a court grant one in this case.

sorry to go off topic, but how 'bout a Gaza thread?
i'm hoping the current Isreali Administration has the stones to really do something this time... i recommend bulldozing the entire population of Gaza into the sea.... is that too harsh?

I suspect that Pinch's idea is to ditch valuable assets to pay debt and then go private. The company has a lot of assets off the book and written off. Going private really only fucks the stupid assholes who bought their stock. The more Pitch and company can run down the obvious assets, the less they will have to pay to buy out everyone else.
Bernie Madoff, or Pinch, same tribe.

What is important to these cocksuckers is keeping the ability to brainwash people...
They give away a shit load of papers to little interlligent soft minds in Universities from coast to coast in the hopes of keeping their brand of asshole fuckhead ignorant liberalism alive.
They will keep giving stacks of that free shit away in defiance of reality as long as they can.
After all, modern liberalism is defined by a repelling of reality and the wheezily fanning of the flames of the big Lie.
Got to keep the kids thinking they are very smart, so so so smart.

Since they, the paper, hate everything good in my town, most locals, myself included, hate them and the fact that 'our local paper' only seem to endorse the freakish shit that oozes in from places like Charlotte and Atlanta and Asheville,NC, known locally as Assville for its kinship to SF, Hanoi on the Bay. But will they simply cease to exist? Dare I hope? I'd love to see a more balanced, locally grown conservative paper sprout up in the place of this miserable scandal sheet/litter-pan liner.
God, I hate my local paper and the entire NYT syndicate. Seriously.
