No Tasers Were Harmed in this Videotaped Incident (genghis)
— Open Blog

Sometimes the adage is true: When you’re in a hole, stop digging. As a corollary, when you’re trespassing at a police union hall trying to dig up political dirt…well…

(Gabe has promised to tack on a 3,000 word analysis of the legal implications by Wednesday morning, so I’m eagerly awaiting that)

”Off-duty police officers last week forcibly removed a Democratic Party cameraman from a news conference where the Seattle Police Officers' Guild was giving its endorsement to Republican Dino Rossi.”

“Guild members threatened the young man with arrest and made an emergency call to 911, bringing uniformed officers to the scene. Cameraman Kelly Akers was warned about trespassing.”

The Seattle Times has the full story here, but I don’t really need to add much more to this since the intrepid cameraman kept the video rolling while he was being escorted out of the building. A couple of paragraphs do stand out, though:
”Akers was confronted by three off-duty police officers, and he says one or more grabbed him and pushed him out of the building. Once outside they continued to argue as the officers held Akers in what he described as a "submission hold."

Tell me more you say?

”As Akers was evicted from the office, his camera recorded him saying, in an increasingly loud and alarmed voice, "Sir, could you please take your hands off me? Sir, could you please take your hands off of me?"

Sadly, for Mr. Akers anyway, they did take their hands off of him. But I’m guessing for at least one bright shining moment the thought had to be going through his head: “Yes, this just might be possible…it really could be possible!” Alas, sometimes dreams don’t come true.

Video below the fold.

3 Look at me!
I'm speaking truth to power!

Maybe now every one will stop calling me a douche bag.
Maybe a non-inflatable girl will go on a date with me.
[fingers crossed]

4 Wow.

This kid evidently has about zero understanding of his 'right' to be on private property when those in charge of that property don't want him there.

It's kinda like that constant refrain one hears from the left when a blogger deletes one of their noxious troll-droppings from a blog:

"CENSORSHIP!1!!1!THIRTYTWELVE!11!!"

Never mind that a blog is every bit as much 'private property' as one's living room, where we all reserve the right to refuse to allow people to take a big, loose crap on our carpets...

Never mind that it's only the government that is enjoined from limiting our 1st Amendment rights...

These idiotic, self-righteous leftards are in the process of ensuring themselves another 8-year stint of wandering in the political wilderness. Howie Dean summed it up along with Michael Manatee, Ben Assfleck, and all the other Hollywoodiots™ when he concluded that their best chance to regain their grip on power was to become even crazier...

Heh.

5 Why couldn't they just shoot him? Ah, private property has little meaning in modern Yankee lands. More respect for property wont come without a few martyrs. I nominate Akers.

10 How to spot a true left wing idiot:  they believe Republican = evil/darth vader/Sauron/oppression and the believe Democrat = good/Skywalker/Frodo/freedom.

Thats the basic difference between the active people in both parties:  Conservatives are students of history and Leftists are students of Cinema.

"Sir, could you please take your hands off me," just isn't as catchy as "Don't tase me, bro." This kid had the golden ring in front of him, but he just didn't grab it.

13 It's almost like he was trained about what he should say when they ask him to leave.  Just kept repeating the same lines like a good parrot.  Curious, isn't it?

17 They need to teach this idiot a lesson in private property rights by coming over to his house and inviting themselves in to watch him surf the internet for gay porn.  See if he can get a grasp on trespassing.

You people on the West Coast are so laid back.  You start with a blackjack across the eyes, then the lawful orders tend to stick better.

I'd like to film the punk in his home, and when he objects, say "what am I doing wrong?"

"We don't allow them in to collect attack video," Rossi spokeswoman Jill Strait said.

Umm, obviously you do, Ms. Strait. Not that this chode didn't act the idiot after they asked him to leave, but an invitation check at the door might've prevented him from waltzing in in the first place.

21 Nice try at manufacturing an incident for cheap exploitation, leftard.

Or is that "special needs leftist" these days?

Anyway, this sort of wanna-be stunt really numbs the general public to genuine demonstrations over problems that actually need fixing. These dolts aren't helping anyone, except the very manipulators that they purport to be working against.

28 Dammit, I was really hoping for some tazering.

"I don't understand what I'm doing wrong."  The mantra of whiny, douchebag lefties everywhere while they knowingly infringe on other people's rights.

Will also be heard from Barack on election night.

29 I wish they'd beat him up and broken some bones. Seriously. What a douche bag.

But, unfortunately, all the police officers were professional and restrained. Must have been Republicans or something.

GREAT DAY!  I just got back from City Hall where I had both my and my kids middle name legally changed to Hussein in solidaritee with my Barack!  I even payed the fee I was so excited (usually I start screaming that I am The People and there are plenty of rich shits who can pay for it - after about an hour it usually works!)

Great patriots like me Tom Matzi and Accountable America will get enough of ours in SO WE CAN KILL THE *SPIT* 22 AMENDMINT AND BARACK WILL BE PRESIDENT FOREVER!!!!

33 I was expecting at least a tasering or a nightstick across the knee cap but I guess I'll have to be content with old videos of some good, old-fashioned police brutality.  I love the sounds of pitiful whelps during a beating in the morning.

Anway, thanks for the dry hump.

37 It's really quite simple - he's a Democrat. Once his power is in charge, there will be no more need for this "private property" of which you speak. We shall all live in the happy land of state and citizen ownership of all! Also, ANYONE will be able to obstruct a police investigation! Anyone! Amazing!

Posted by: Guy in Utah at August 13, 2008 09:07 AM (PVvVS)

38 What right does a private citizen have to video tape a public press conference?  The off duty officer was well within his rights to beat up that Democrat and then call 911 and then charge the Democrat with assault.  I mean it works with drug busts donesn't it.  Riggggghhhhhtttttt.  And, you wonder why the general public has less and less confidence in the police.
