NFL Football Thread
— Ace

Just got to the tv, ten minutes late, and the Giants are already down 13-0 halfway through the first quarter.

5-0 start. Right.

Are you watching this travesty, Spank?  Kubiak can't even bench Schaub because the backup QB has a wooden leg.  Slaton needs to get the rookie treatment for a few weeks, carrying the ball with him everywhere.

Can we stop pretending the Houston Texans are good?

They're a perpetual 7-9, 9-7 team. Yeah, some years a 9-7 record will get a team in playoffs, and the Texans will eventually make the playoffs, but they're not good.

And enough about how good the Ravens are, too.

Holy crap, you should hear the local fluffers  about how this team is just 4 plays away from being undefeated.  Are you F*CKING KIDDING ME?!?!?!  The koolaid is chugged by the assload down here.  They don't even realize their coach is mildly retarded.

Time for my 6-0-and-Lord-knows-how Broncos to go down.

It's 1977 all over again, Curly Mustard. Remember, the Broncos lost their 7th game that year, too. Though it's unlikely Denver will finish at 11-3 this season, the hopes of going back to the Super Bowl are real.

I say let people crow about Craig Morton. He's doing all right.

62 They've reorganized and renamed the site, so you have to drill down to find the best pics, but The Ultimate Cheerleader Blog is just full of hotness. Search on Halloween and keep clicking. If there's anything sluttier than cheerleaders in uniforms, it's cheerleaders in slutty secretary costumes.

Speaking of slutty, I went with the Dallas cheerleader costume last night. Absolutely worth the splurge. I'm gonna keep wearing the hat until my classmates intervene. Nobody seemed to mind the insufficient boobage. It was freakishly warm in NYC last night, so the bare midriff was painless.

121 I hear Nascar's big with RINOs.

122 Helloooo, Newman. haha and he seems to be okay Me? Not so much. I hate wrecks. I hate green/white/checker finishes too (wondering who all got fuel before they threw the red flag) I also hate that the Bears won and my Niners lost, at least the Cowboys didn't disappoint.

Posted by: d at November 01, 2009 12:31 PM (uTknY)

123 this sucks; i've got the Cards game.

They really squandered that opp.  Should have been 7.

Here comes Percy Harvin, down to the 14.  heh

Posted by: Newman at November 01, 2009 12:39 PM (Dh+s2)

126 Hey, it was only an itty, bitty head-butt...

Posted by: TheresaD at November 01, 2009 12:43 PM (iGCmo)

127
Yeah, it wasn't a head BUTT-butt.

Posted by: Dang Straights at November 01, 2009 12:43 PM (Dh+s2)

128 shit!

Now I need Jared Allen to be all over Rogers like cheap suit.  3 sacks and couple of forced fumbles oughtta do it.

I think the amount of booing at Green Bay is uncalled for

players change teams all the time, and often come back to play their old teams once or twice

when the guy comes on the field, boo him; then cheer for your team, instead of AGAINST the former player

Posted by: Jones at November 01, 2009 12:47 PM (1cda8)

and there is no 'unnecessary roughness' in football

the roughness is necessary

133 Jones, I grew up in WI. GB fans cheered Favre like crazy last year when he played for the Jets. The Vikes are a bridge too far.

Posted by: jack Bauer's Dad at November 01, 2009 12:52 PM (DVl4L)

134 Favre : 14
    Pack : 3

135 How's my ass taste now, bitches?

Posted by: Favre to Packers at November 01, 2009 01:00 PM (9Wv2j)

136
Favre is done in this league, there's no need for us to make an attempt to retain his services.

Posted by: Mike Mccarthy at November 01, 2009 01:02 PM (Dh+s2)

137
Sweet, there's one sack.  Thank you Jared.

138 The Cards are making Carolina look like an actual NFL team

Posted by: jack Bauer's Dad at November 01, 2009 01:08 PM (DVl4L)

139
Owen Daniels TE Houston Texans - out for the year, knee.  Probably ACL.

140 Is anyone seeing a late game OTHER that Min-GB?

141 Is anyone seeing a late game OTHER that Min-GB?

Posted by: Little Miss Spellcheck at November 01, 2009 06:24 PM (xqhoO)

No, probably because of the world series.  I'd rather watch football.

Posted by: Tami at November 01, 2009 01:26 PM (VuLos)

142 How can the Cardinals be this bad, after beating the Giants last week? The Giants must really be sucking bad.

Posted by: IC at November 01, 2009 01:26 PM (8h7Q9)

143 Actually, here in PHX we're stuck with the Cards/Carolina game. Carolina was up by 14 earlier.

Posted by: Ryan Moats and Jonathan Stewart at November 01, 2009 01:55 PM (I3Udb)

145 Hey everbody, remember, no matter how good your game may be, at 7 EST/6CST (why do we list CST, does anyone care - I mean, New York is not in CST - so if it does not include New York, why bother) turn over to NBC to see Football Night in America with me and a bunch of other guys, but mainly me. I will dazzle you with my brilliant analysis, my witty commentary and remind you that conservatives are evil, evil people. Football Night in America staring ME!

Posted by: Jones at November 01, 2009 02:11 PM (1cda8)

147 Football Night in America minus the Football.  I don't watch it when there is a game to follow.  I sure as hell won't watch it when there's no game!

Posted by: Tami at November 01, 2009 02:12 PM (VuLos)

148 Hey J-Stew and R-Mo, we're doing our part to by clamping down on Sims-Walker and letting Jones-Drew have his way!

Posted by: Tennessee Titans at November 01, 2009 02:17 PM (I3Udb)

149 Wow, I wouldn't have thought that the Raiders-Chargers game would be the close score this late in the game.

Posted by: Y-not at November 01, 2009 02:50 PM (sey23)

150 OK, order is restored.  Raiders lose!

No good!

Posted by: Dang Straights at November 01, 2009 03:03 PM (Dh+s2)

153 .....err, wait!  What?  The Titans WON?  30-13?  Vince Young threw no interceptions?  And Chris Johnson broke an NFL record by rushing for 4 touchdowns over 50 yards each?

Ok, I now know that the Titans were the best pick all along.  They represent the change we are looking for.  Even though Albert Haynesworth is gone and the defense is hurting, everyone knew they would win today.

Yeah, that's it.  That's what I originally meant.

154 I think the amount of booing at Green Bay is uncalled for players change teams all the time, and often come back to play their old teams once or twice But do they continue to retire & un-retire every year?

155 One benefit of not having a Sunday night football game: No Olby.

Posted by: Che Pizza at November 01, 2009 03:48 PM (4iIhs)

156 I wonder how many people will be watching Football Night in America tonight, with no football game to follow?  I sure won't.

Bummed that there's no night game.

Posted by: TheresaD at November 01, 2009 03:50 PM (iGCmo)

157 ONT please.

All the other threads are too ideologically pure for my taste (Christians vs atheists, RINOs vs real conservatives) and this one is dead.

Posted by: Y-not at November 01, 2009 03:56 PM (sey23)

158 109 "yeah wtf has happened to the Gints?"

They were overrated to start with.  Eli has never been that good but has benefited from his last name.  He had one season that a little less sucky but he's never been much of a QB or a leader.

159 Giants...exposed

160 --and just when everyone was beginning to rave about the Cardinals' run defense . . . 270 yards by Carolina.

Posted by: logprof at November 01, 2009 04:02 PM (I3Udb)

161 Yes, this one is dead.  just like my winner picking record after this week.

I think next week I'll make all of my best picks based on what I absolutely believe to be true, and then I will inverse them.

I'll do much better that way.

164 Hey Ace -

You basically pulled a Newt in your "Dede's Farewell" post.  Guess what, Ace?  You're not a tough guy, you're a moronic pussy.  This blog is off my bookmarks (except I may post this in a couple of other threads first).

Loyal Ex-Reader,
Dave

165 I knew after my great picks last week I would regress to my mean:  a crack addled monkey picking winners by flinging feces on the monitor.

4 out of freakin 12.

FML.
