— Pixy Misa Sorry about that. I'm away from home right now, and have basic web access, but not access to log into the server and restart the comments process. I'll do that as soon as I get home - but that will be another four or five hours.
In the meantime, you can continue the party in this old thread if you like.
Update: New Comments Thingy is running again. Now that I'm back from... where I was... I'll do some work on it to make it stay running.

I found the 40min un-aired pilot episode of Aquaman.. not sure when it was done, but looks pretty recent.
Ving Rhames and Lou Diamond Phillips costar.
The special effects look well done for TV and so hopefully if enough people make a clamor, we can get this on the air.

Off topic?
We have no topic. Aquaman can be the topic, if you like.
You can forget about Aquaman ever becoming a series. They scrapped the idea. As long as they keep Smallville going I'll be happy. Aquaman is a good guy and all, but he's pretty lame as far as super heroes go.

Is there no killing it? Will it live forever, blowing huge chunks and sapping our will to comment?
Darnit. I had hopes this time.

Well, Slu, it appears that you've watched the episode of Smallville that featured the young Arthur Curry (Aquaman). He was a eco-terrorist in that episode. I was quite surprised that he was portrayed as a nut. Perhaps the writers in their own eco-nuttery didn't even notice that they were portraying Aquaman as a criminal maniac.

They don't have Aquaman where you are in India, Tushar?
How about Superman, you ever heard of him?

Pixy, why so mysterious? Were you someplace...bad?
Lizardbrain! Good to see you...
Okay, that's my social interaction for the day.

Yeah, that's what I mean. The writers can't help themselves, it seems.

Aquaman is a pussy!!
If Aquaman had any shit in his wallet he would've saved New Orleans from Bush and Rove. He didn't. Which means he couldn't. Which means he is a pussy. Case Closed!

What did you expect Aquaman to do? He can't stop hurricanes.
The only thing he could have done was use his mental aquatic telepathy to contact that chocolate guppy, Ray Nagin, and tell him to start the buses and drive people out of New Orleans.

Yeah, but he could talk to the microbes in the water after the flood and convince them not to cause disease.
Or somethin.

Sigh!
I live in New Jersey, Bart. I managed to find the ONE place in US that is filthier than Bombay. I am living in US for almost 8 years now. And yes, I have heard of Superman. My favourite superhero is Wolverine, though.

Did you ever notice that Aquaman was always eager to save the day when the crisis was in the water? Every single time he'd fail, though.
He never could help anyone. He'd get stuck and have to call a couple of whales, or a giant squid, or an electric eel to bail him out of a jam. And most of the time even that, his Plan B, would fail. He'd have to get saved by one of the Super Friends, who should have just gone in the first place.

They have a New Jersey in India?
Cool. That must be like Versailles, Kentucky. It's nice when other countries adopt foreign names for their cities.

He probably took the short bus to superhero school and wore a helmet on the playground.

Bart, Taj Mahal is in a small city called Agra. About 2-3 hours from New Delhi.
Calcutta is unimaginably filthy, but Bombay is not too far behind. Every city in India that has more than, say 2.5 million people, is impossibly overcrowded, polluted and filthy. My hometown is on that 2.5 million theshold, and I am dreading it.
They have a joke about the overcrowding in Bombay: The dogs in Bombay wag their tails up-and-down, because there isn't enough space to wag it side-to-side.

India is a fairly large (geographically) country, when did this population explosion take place? What's the average family size?
Posted by: Bart at May 01, 2007 06:24 AM (MT8Du)
Bart,
In 1947, when the British left, India's population was about 300 million. At that time, it was fairly common for a couple to have 5-6 kids. India tried a "family planning awareness drive" in 70s, 80s and 90s. Now the population is 1.05 billion, but the growth rate is down from 2.8+ percent to about 1.4 percent. Now a typical family has only 2 kids, and many famillies have just one kid.

The thing that appealed to me about Aquaman was the Bermuda Triangle/Atlantis thing. Plus.. the special effects and costumes were interesting. The siren (evil mermaid thing) that attacks him is crazy lookin. Hot as a human, but crazy.
meh.
