Now that the ad has run its course, they have time to "vet" it and decide they're not going to run the ad that its producers aren't paying them to run anymore.

The adverb that NBC uses is "thoroughly." "The ad had not been thoroughly vetted...."

So, they watched ("vetted") it, high-fived each other, said "Dude, them doctors pwned McCain on that one!", ran it for two days, and someone at another major news source called and said, "I can't believe you're running that. It's not only mean and nasty, it's also misleading, if not outright lying."

And they replied, "Because of a more thorough vetting [yours], we are no longer running the ad."

7 I used to be the IT technician for NBC's commercial operations division and for their on-air news operations. I can guarantee that the same people who allowed that ad to go through refused to run ads showing Iraqi progress and encouraging support of the war last year. GE gives them mandates, NBC goes along with what they get. It's not a choice, or editing on NBC's end - it's seriously run very tight. Outside of the News division, NBC has literally zero control over what goes out over its airwaves, and the only reason News has any autonomy is because they already attack Republicans, conservatives and other regular Americans on a regular basis.

Update II: Sing for Changes website tells us who created this effort:

As Sunday approached, a neighbor volunteered a home. Production wizards got wind of the project and offered their help in recordingit. The likes of Jeff Zucker, Holly Schiffer, Peter Rosenfeld, Darin Moran, Jean Martin, Andy Blumenthal, and Nick Phoenix rearranged schedules to participate. Holly Schiffer was able to get three High Definition cameras (Panasonic HVX250s), and an AVID editing facility. When Jeff Zucker went to pick up the camera package, Ted Schilowitz happened to be there and offered a RED camera set up on a SteadiCam.

Production wizard Jeff Zucker appears to also be President & CEO of NBC Universal Jeff Zucker. At least his brother David sticks with adults for his political work. Will Sing for Change get its own variety-hour special next?

Millions of people didn't see it on MSNBC. The same 250,000 Obama acolytes that watch that channel saw it, and they.... pleasured themselves.

Most people never saw it, and those that did- the majority that did- saw it being criticized and probably saw it for what it is.

Can we make a statement that Obama is actually the father of Bristol's baby and demand a release of his medical records finally ? I'm not "saying", I'm just saying.
