— DrewM If Obama says, "Abramoff", you say Ayers. If he says, 'you have a lot of houses', you say, "Rezko"
Responding to Obama's taunt about not knowing how many homes he owns, Team McCain goes for the balls.
Does a guy who made more than $4 million last year, just got back from vacation on a private beach in Hawaii and bought his own million-dollar mansion with the help of a convicted felon really want to get into a debate about houses? Does a guy who worries about the price of arugula and thinks regular people cling to guns and religion in the face of economic hardship really want to have a debate about whos in touch with regular Americans?
As a conservative I know I'm screwed no matter who wins this year, it's just a matter of degree but I'm really starting to enjoy this campaign. And it hasn't really started yet!
Obviously the McCain folks realize just how nasty this campaign is going to get and I imagine that's got to be factoring into the VP selection. I think that's a strike against Lieberman, at least I hope it is. Yeah, Joe will go after Obama on Iraq but will he throw the Rezko/Ayers type dirt?
This is a job for one man and one man only...Bob Dole.
Added below the fold...The Obama ad on this 'controversy'.
It's pretty effective if class warfare is your thing. Of course as Presidents Gore, Kerry and Edwards can tell you, that's a hit and miss tactic which mostly misses.
UPDATE: I should have noted that this statement alone isn't that big of a deal. It simply puts Obama on notice about how this will go. There has to be follow up. That's starting as well. Behold...the GOP's Tony Rezko Fact Sheet.

How many times will they smack themselves in the face before they get a clue?
Many, I hope.

This has definitely been the funniest election ever.
About 2 years ago, I thought this election had been going on for too long. Now? I wish it would never end.
If Obama! chooses Biden I won't need to watch reruns of the Simpsons for the duration (the campaign or their term in office if elected), real life will be even more absurd.

Er...Obama's vacation house was a mile or so away from where I grew up and my family still lives. The beach was NOT private. In fact, there are NO private beaches in Hawaii (except military bases). I suppose the SS may have kept some sort of protective barrier around him and temporarily closed off that particular section of beach. But that's not a "private" beach.

Does a guy who worries about the price of arugula (but, puzzlingly, not mortgage payments or the price of gas) and thinks regular people "cling" to guns and religion in the face of economic hardship really want to have a debate about who's in touch with regular Americans?"

How about, Is the family who whines about partially paying for their Ivy League educations while earning $300,000 to $500,000 a year, in touch with average Americans?

McCain's staff are a swift bunch. Bravo to them.
In other news, Howard Dean has overlaid another fresh photo of Joe Trippi on his dartboard...

This election has turned the 24 news channels into the political equivalent of E!
And I like it!

My favorite? Michelle Obama complaining, to struggling housewives in West Virginia, about how it costs her $10,000 a year for sports and piano lessons.
Holy Fuck Batman!
You're complaining about spending $10,000 on shit when your audience would find $10,000 a godsend just to pay the bills!?

Obama is a kid with a bunch of Chicago crooks who made tons of money at a law firm helping Rezko (won't release his records on it), and getting crooked house deals, etc etc. He's the kid who got it all easy and slick.
Mccain's wealth is not a big deal, because most Americans expect experienced old leaders to have wealth. Obama's wealth is a problem because he has no way of explaining how he earned it. He got it easy and illegally.

Barry is starting to yell all the time.
I love it, he's losing his mind, whatever he had before, because of what people are telling him to do.
And meanwhile, Johnny just tells people to fuck off, because what the fuck does he care, he's 72 and in good health and in the catbird's seat.
LOL. Please pick Biden Barry, please, please, please.
Who gives a shit if it is a private beach. It's ridiculous for Barry to pull a wealthy elitist card.
I mean, what's his wife supposed to do raising three kids without servants and laundry service?

Can you imagine the VP debates with Joe Biden?
The smugness will be dripping off millions of tv sets.
I understand he is actually a very nice guy.
Maybe Barry will lock himself in his room rather than come out and debate and just send Joe out there, Joe won't give a shit.

I'm reminded of a remark by Jesse Ventura when asked if he found facing a suspicious and unfriendly media scary for a first time candidate and he answered that he was a Navy Seal and when you've looked death in the eye and survived, nothing can ever be that bad again.
McCain looked death in the eye for 5 1/2 years, he survived the worst kind of torture, both physical and mental, and he remained, in the words of Bud Day, "a hard resistor."
Is there anything that the soft cerebral Obama can throw at McCain that is going to intimidate him. I doubt it. What is happening is that McCain is beginning to take the gloves off. He tried it the other way, not his natural way, at the behest of the handlers, but McCain has overcome the best intimidaters and Obama doesn't stand a snowball's chance in hell. It is just a matter of degree. How much and how soon will McCain unload on the pansy? And don't think that McCain doesn't already have Obama's number. He knows that the O-man's ego will be his undoing. Mac is playing with him now.
