— Ace How To Ruin Your Life, Part 7,654.
"Maf54" is Mark Foley.
Maf54: You in your boxers, too?
Teen: Nope, just got home. I had a college interview that went late.
Maf54: Well, strip down and get naked....
Maf54: What ya wearing?
Teen: tshirt and shorts
Maf54: Love to slip them off of you....
Maf54: Do I make you a little horny?
Teen: A little.
Maf54: Cool.
But there's more:
Maf54: Do you like watching Gladiator movies, Joey?
Teen: Uhmm... I guess.
Maf54: Have you ever seen a grown man naked?
Teen: Where is this heading?
Maf54: Do you have any Irish in you, Joey?
Teen: No.
Maf54: Would you like some?
Teen: That's not even from the same movie.
Looks like there will be an investigation after all:
The language gets much more graphic, too graphic to be broadcast, and at one point the congressman appears to be describing Internet sex.Federal authorities say such messages could result in Foley's prosecution, under some of the same laws he helped to enact.
Yes, enact. Check it out:
Mark also has worked closely with the National Center for Missing and Exploited Children and John Walsh (host of Fox TVs Americas Most Wanted) on a variety of child protection programs. Among the latest of these is a program designed to show children how to protect themselves from online predators.
The liberals are going to have a field day, but hey, apparently his advice for children protecting themselves against Internet predators worked, baby.
Why would he take the lead in such a legislative scheme?
1) To insulate himself against just these charges, just as Al Gore began a born-again campaign finance reformer after taking tons of dirty money from ChiCom agents passing donations through Buddhist nuns; and
2) Acess to all that Pete Townsend-style "child porn research."

Think about all the shit that happens on the Hill that we don't know about. It's a shame that such a great country is led by such small men. Ultimately it will be our downfall.

How is this for irony: tonight on NBC is another installment of To Catch a Predator.
No word yet if this episode was filmed on Capitol Hill....

A not so secretly (but still secretly) gay Republican congressman, who is actually supersecretly pedophillic, and is rated 83% (good) by the Christian somethingorother association leads a legislative assault on pedophilia, and it's suprising? The guy's a walking bunch of TV-cop-show-psychological-cliches fueled by the neuroses of maintaining multiple facades. Look up "self hate" and "wanting to get caught" in some psychological text, and you'll find this guy's picture.
I notice he's R.C., too. I wonder if there are any priests in his closet? That would just be too over the top cliche land, though. Even without them, I smell a TV movie, pobably to come out right before the '08 elections.

It would be SO awesome if they had caught Foley this way.
"Uh.......wait, I think I'm in the wrong house....."
"Mr. Foley, I'm going to have to ask you to take a seat. Here, have one of our cookies."
"Uh......um.......I....this was all a mistake....."
"We have your chat transcripts......now, this part about you wanting to suck his big, teen cock, what exactly did you mean by that?"
"I was worried about him! He sounded depressed! I just wanted to check on him!!!"

I don’t think I’ve ever seen such a look of misery and dejection on the face of my daughter as I just did a moment ago. She just couldn’t understand why Rep. Mark Foley (R-FLA) resigned his house seat. “Doesn’t Representative Foley care about little children anymore?,” she asked pitifully.
I sat down with her on the sofa and (as calmly as I could) tried to explain to her why Representative Foley seems to be abandoning his party. “Honey, I think Representative Foley is a sick mother– It’s too bad that he’s a Republican; if he were a Democrat, the Progressives would cluster around to protect him and he’d be invited to the Oprah Winfrey Show to sob on her expansive bosom. As it is, he’ll probably hang himself in a lonely cell in Miami.”
I tried to keep my voice steady, but it became increasingly difficult--the rage and feelings of helplessness were just too much. I think my daughter could tell something was wrong. Tears fell down the front of her beautiful blue dress. I found myself at such a loss for words--nothing made any sense; nothing makes sense anymore. I finally had to admit, “Honey, I just don’t know-–I don’t know what’s going on in this country anymore…”
When I finished her lower lip started to tremble and her eyes began to fill with tears, “Daddy” she said, “why are Republicans trying to seduce young interns? What are they doing this to the country?” Well, that was it for me: I finally fell apart. She just fell into my arms and we both began sobbing for several minutes.
For once she had to comfort me and help me back on my feet. Sometimes I just think it’s too much, but sensing the strength in my young daughter’s voice helped me to get through.
h/t, Cheche.

It's people like you that makes people think Republicans are ruthless, morally adrift and obsessed with power. Sometimes, it's not about politics, it's about what is right. I'd even say Foley has his hat on straighter than you, as he saw the damage he had done and gracefully bowed out before it got ugly. But attempting to minimize it is just despicable.
I'm new here, so tell me to F off. But making hay out of this just feeds the disease that has become politics in this country.
Posted by: Shallot at September 29, 2006 02:22 PM (HD5yI)
Well, what the kid went through is pretty bad, and I hope Foley is prosecuted to the full extent of the laws he helped pass (oh, the irony), but the kid isn't dead, unlike the unfortunate women Ted Kennedy killed.
I think the point Warden was trying to make, and it is a fair one, is that Republicans are better overall at disciplining their members than Democrats. The opposition party often rallies around their criminals. We get rid of ours.
So who, exactly, is "ruthless, morally adrift and obsessed with power?" I'd say it is those who put party above principle or law, myself.
But that's just me.

Ace, if you're monitoring, Canada allows hot girl on girl action at the tender age of 14, but makes the boys wait until 18.

Fuck you, pal. I didn't excuse his behavior anywhere in this thread. Read more carefully before you get all emotional and write some kneejerk bullshit, asshole.
I've argued here before that both the Republicans and the Democrats are sleazy, arrogant, gutless, and corrupt. The difference betweem the two is that Republicans generally own up and accept the consequences of their behavior when they are caught doing something unethical and illegal while Democrats do not.
I brought up Clinton and Kennedy to highlight this difference and will continue to beat that horse until the day I die because not one fucking Democrat ever held them accountable.
Mark Foley should not only resign, he should be charged with soliciting a minor and thrown in prison upon conviction. That clear enough for you, fucknuts?

But I still would like to know why Dems not only supported but re-elected Gerry Studds to Congress after he actually had sex with a 17 year old male page. Do you see why people think Dems are the party who is ruthless, morally adrift and obsessed with power?
Posted by: JackStraw at September 29, 2006 02:45 PM (rnOZq)
Does the law specify that it has to be hot girl on girl action? Because if they have a "no fat chicks" clause in there, Canada isn't as lame as I thought.

The left will only have a field day with the story if Foley stays in the closet, assuming that he is in the closet. Should Foley come out, then the narrative changes from Republican preys on young boys to homosexual preys on young boys.
The left would not perpetuate that narrative.

is that Republicans are better overall at disciplining their members than Democrats.
1) Foley resigned, wasn't disciplined by R memebers.
2) Like the R (Hastings) led ethics committee vigorous prosecution of the K street scandal, regardless of where the chips might fall?
3) And the new congressional ethics 45 day sunset rule is an example of that?
4) Or the fact that the other pages, not the R leadership, had to warn these kids?
5) Maybe if Warden had mentioned Gerry Studds he'd have a valid argument. But he didn't, so excuse me if I see this as blame shifting or minimizing.
As I mentioned in the other thread, the R leadership is probably guilty of letting this guy have a seat on the MEC committee, in the name of political power, as opposed to principle.

Even gay men in "stable, long-term partnerships."
OTOH, I could probably say something similar about teenage girls and married men in their dotage, so maybe the moral is not quite as strong as it might appear.

Tough boys
Running the streets
Come a little closer
Rough toys
Under the sheets
Nobody knows her
Rough boys
Don't walk away
I very nearly missed you
Tough boys
Come over here
I wanna bite and kiss you
I wanna see what I can find
Tough kids
Take a bottle of wine
When your deal is broken
Ten quid
She's so easy to find
Not a word is spoken
Rough boys
Don't walk away
I'm still pretty blissed here
Tough boy
I'm gonna carry you home
You got pretty pissed dear
Gonna get inside you
Gonna get inside your bitter mind
Rough boys
Don't walk away
I wanna buy you leather
Make noise
Try and talk me away
We can't be seen together
Tough kids
What can I do?
I'm so pale and weedy
Rough fits
In my Hush Puppy shoes
But I'm still pleading
Tough boys
Running the streets
Come a little closer
Rough toys
Under the sheets
Nobody knows her
Rough boys
Don't walk away
I very nearly missed you
Tough boys
Come over here
I wanna bite and kiss you
I wanna see what I can find!

I agree, even bearing in mind that Foley never actually touched this particular kid (that we know of), and even bearing in mind that it was Monica freakin' Lewinski.
That said, Clinton's other sexual depradations, as well as the cover-ups, are worse than Foley's chat sessions, IMO. The problem with the underage boys is inability to formulate consent, and consequent lack of consent. If Clinton's serially sexually assualting women, that also means lack of consent. And the act (Clinton) is worse than the intent (Foley).

From the AP:
"Following a four-month investigation, Who guitarist Pete Townshend has been cleared of child pornography charges.
However, London's Metropolitan Police have taken the precaution of placing the rocker on a national register of sex offenders for paying to access a child pornography site in 1999."
So if you wanna compare him to Foley go right ahead. Foley is dead in the water.

An adult intern versus an underage page?
Hmm, my understanding is the age of consent in DC is 16. So underage may not be (technically) correct since the intern was 17 at the time.
So, legally I guess Foley is in the clear. He won't go to jail.
Anyway, he's gone. He should be. Good riddance.
Which reminds me of the Lenny Bruce line in the 1950s about arresting homosexual men and locking them up: "I really dig what they do with a homosexual in this country. They put him into a prison with a lot of other men. That's a really good punishment."

Then there's Senator Menendez of New Joisy and Senator Toricelli before him.
Foley's seat is all but conceded to the Dems.
Who then has the culture of corruption?

Now if Foley had just kept these exchanges to boys 18 and up, he would have been ok. President Bill Clinton set that fine example for us, afterall."

Other than that I agree with you. We should take their car keys away, too.

This would be a really good point, if it were true.

More on this: lets not forget "the Parlor Maid".
Katrina Leung who's day job as Republican Fundraiser and Real Estate scammer didn't interfere with her night job as "ChiCom" spy.
The Republlican Party, party of pedofiles, enemy spies, blowhards, and creeps. You people deserve eachother.

I have to ask, though, guys. The kid says he's already told Foley how big he is. Is that normal guy conversation?
On this site, it is.

A sixteen year old is NOT a consenting adult.
FWIW, age of consent in D.C. is 16.
Not sure if the page was in the District at the time or in the suburbs.

Ah, Feingold. The co-signer of a bill that makes it MUCH harder to remove any incumbent.
If you're a huge supporter of Feingold and the Incumbnet Protection act (oops, Campaign Finance Reform) then I can safely say that we will have few if any overlaps where we agree.
If you honestly believe that the First Amendment doesn't cover Political speech, or that removing the first amendment without going through the proper process is upholding an Oath to defend the Constitution; and you're hoping for more Senators Like Feingold (or McCain) then I have one thought.
I'm sorely disappointed that your vote counts as much as mine does.
I'm not fond of Kucinich, but at least he isn't a known oath-breaker who has decided his personal views trump the Constitution (like McCain-Feingold).

The Republican Party, the party of pedofiles (sic), enemy spies, blowhards and creeps.
That's pretty weak, #121, you've got one example of a possible pedophile, a chicom mole, who

whoops, let me continue where I left off,
a Chicom mole who used her "Republicanism" as a front to steal secrets for China. This is a story of FBI bungling, not Republican corruption.
Blowhards and creeps? Well, I'll take our blowhards and creeps over your Democrat blowhards and creeps every time.

Dan Crane was also censured by the House that same year for nailing an underage female page. He didn't resign but he damn sure wasn't re-elected either.
Instead of being shamed for his crime, Studds is celebrated as the first openly gay congressman and his behavior while the censure was read was, turning his back to and ignoring them, makes him not only an arrogant ass but unapologetic as well. Suddenly he's the victim.

Was Foley's computer searched? Was AIM monitoring his conversations?
Or, and what I think is most likely, did the teenage male copy and paste the conversation transcript and send it to the proper authorities or whatever?
So...theoretically...couldn't this all be some corrupt teen's plot to fuck over Foley...and couldn't the teen have been really into the cyber-sex for several conversations and then just gotten pissed off?
Just saying.
I'm more concerned about American privacy than about Foley's cyber-sexual cravings.
I think it's kind of obvious that he wanted to get caught...or at least had gotten to a point where he didn't care anymore.
