1 Hey, but he paid up the $10k he owes to the IRS and NYS Dept. of Tax and Finance on the first admitted tax deficiency (the Punta Cana villa). He thinks that absolves all of the questions and all further inquiries into his behavior.

2 I've always seen Rangle as a typically corrupt pol but a likable enough guy. This nastiness tells me he's feeling cornered and is lashing out.

And that makes my cold heart smile and show it's jagged bleeding teeth.

3 Rangel's so crooked he needs a team of valets to screw his pants on every morning.

4 "the tax ( I oversaw and implemented) is too difficult for morons and the disabled (and Democratic long-termed Chairpersons of the House Ways and Means Committee  ...but then again, I repeat myself).

more cowbell, Cholly!

5 Since when is "my accountant did it" or ignorance any excuse for breaking the law.  You have a duty to keep track of paying your taxes, if this was a regular joe he'd be going to jail.

I just thought I'd pop in to see if anyone knows where I can find footage of Newt Gingrich ass raping Alan Colmes on network television.

In other news, I popped a pizza in the oven tonight and the fucking middle fell out two minutes before it was done. WTF? We can't even make pizza right anymore.

7 Charlie needs to STFU or he's going to become a liability to Pelosi at some point and get relegated to bullshit committees.

8 This is the same genius who compared tax cuts to racial epithets.

9 Somebody ordered Charlie's Benz towed outta the Hill garage today, after leaving it there , unlicensed, under a tarp, for 4 years.  Ya think somebody's trying to make a little impression on Charlie?

10 They invented the word jagoff for guys like Rangel.

Posted by: Roy at September 19, 2008 05:45 PM (mgGvq)

11 Anybody from the Hostages around?  Is Charlie the name of that damn unicorn y'all are always watching?  Or why, in my mind, does it sound like Chaaaaaaaaarrrleeeeeeeeee?

12 Dear Charlie,

Your Alligator mouth has overloaded your Hummingbird ass, AGAIN!  If you want to keep your Chair in the Ways and Means Committee, STFU!

Signed

San Fran Nan

PS - Can you give me some advice on how to hide my deal with T. Boone from the IRS?

I'll bet a bag of Cheetos that "somebody" == Pelosi.  She's sending a message.

15 Can you imagine, PA, our country's leaders are the kinds of folks that act like the Corleones (SP) when somebody gets out of line?  I'm surprised they don't openly break kneecaps.

Is Charlie Rangel still considered to be the "conscience of the Congress"?

This seems like he's just waving his dick at Pelosi.  She's not going to bust him down from his chairmanship regardless so he's got free rein to be a total cocksucker.

I told a buddy in 2006, give the Dems enough rope and they'll hang themselves.  They've become so unhinged with BDS - and now PDS - blind hatred and idiocy rode common sense out of town out of town on a rail.

Now we see it.  They deserve the reins of power after enduring eight years of Bush, and any threat to their Washington monopoly is met with unvarnished rage.

Be funny if their tantrums cost them the WH and half of Congress.

17

I wonder who is bringing Charlie's little problems to light.

I note that this stuff started slithering out back when the Donks still thought they had this election in the bag.

Could it be an intramural hit job? Who is next in line for Ways and Means?

I forget who he supported in the Clinton-Obama battle (too busy lifting dialogue from "The Birth of a Nation" for my next epic riff to go googling) but, could this be payback from the offended party?

Questions.

18 You know, whenever I see Pelosi, Reid, Rangel, et al., all I can hear is the Joker saying "What this town needs is a better class of criminal."

Posted by: alexthechick at September 19, 2008 06:06 PM (yUzb2)

19 Rangel is going through the retirement process for old crooked pols whose power days are behind them. Somebody wants him out of the way. Live by the sword, die by the sword.

Posted by: eman at September 19, 2008 06:11 PM (TE1SV)

20

Keep this in mind when Obama says he's going to fix the economy and that McCain's out of touch, because he and Rangel are two peas in a socialist pod.

His campaign bleeds money, he blew over nine figures in the Annenberg challenge the first time he was given any kind of executive authority, and even Michelle Obama admitted that they couldn't balance their checkbook until they were wiping their asses with (other people's) cash.

23 Is Rangel's accountant White? Don't want to be accused of being "racist". Wonder how often he and Jefferson get together and compare bank accou...er...a...notes?

Posted by: GarandFan at September 19, 2008 06:31 PM (eJ32B)

24 Only $10K?

It should have been at least $50 grand with late fees, penalties, etc.

Looks like Charlie has friends cutting  him a break at the IRS.

25 Charlie Rangel . . . a man who can't pass up a chance to cheat on his taxes . . . or a cheeseburger.

Posted by: Daryl Herbert at September 19, 2008 06:49 PM (YvLui)

26 Speaking of affirmative action congressmen.

Actually, I take that back.  Charlie Rangel's just as qualified and just as capable as the rest of congress, which says a lot if you think about.

Posted by: DelD at September 19, 2008 06:57 PM (Fn1HE)

27 I've learned one simple fact.  Every insult or accusation the left wields is something they either are themselves or guilty of.

That's exactly right. And that's why the word they throw around more than any other is "hate," Everything is a "hate crime." "You're a hater". "Stop the hate". Etc. The lefties are obsessed with hate, because they themselves are such consummate haters.

As events these past two weeks have more than amply demonstrated.

28 "if this was a regular joe he'd be going to jail."

Not really.  If it was a regular joe, the IRS would be making their life deeply miserable for a very long time, but without significantly more to this story than we have so far, it's a civil matter for interest and penalties, not evidence of criminal tax evasion.

31 I can't stand Rangel.  He is just another race hustler lining his pockets at the public trough.  I remember watching him on O'Reilly a couple of years back screaming that Bush was going to reinstitute the draft to win the war and then Rangel acutally pushed for congress to re-institute it as a way of turning public opinion against the war.  I also remember him claiming that the war was unfair to blacks because they were over-represented in the Army.  He failed to mention that at the time, blacks were not over represented in combat units.  I'm still waiting for him to say that whites, asians and hispanics are under represented in sports, Blues and Rap music.

32 The voice of Harvey Fierstein and the morals of a goat. I live in NYC and turds like him (not to mention Schumer, Nadler etc.) have been fleecing us and pulling the wool (mixed metaphors) over their constituents' eyes for decades. Why is it that black folks vote for a black man and Jews for Jews 99.999% despite the fact that the people they reflexively vote for have done them the most harm, year after year after year. Retard, heal thyself INDEED.

37 "Is Charlie Rangel still considered to be the "conscience of the Congress"?"

Just the idea of that makes me throw up in my mouth a little.  What a bunch of sanctimonious fucktits.  As if they even understand the concept of conscience, must less that a cockroach like Rangel embodies it.

"Hey should we do this?"

"I don't know.  Let's run it by Rangel, and see if it passes the human decency test.  He'll know!"

Posted by: Kensington at September 20, 2008 07:41 AM (xFNQx)

38 From what I remember reading it was something like $5K/year in income across 20 years or so. And if that had been any one of us serfs, the interest charges in the alone would have been high five figures plus the actual tax due.

40 It's time to call a criminal, a criminal.  If anyone in "that other party" had 1/10 of the "I didn't know's" as this guy, their own party would have kicked them out a long time ago.  Go ahead and try it yourself some time, see how much bipartisan help the IRS would give you.  See if the local paper would forget your affiliations.

42 Rangel sounds a bit like Chris Dodd, Chairman of the Banking, Housing and Urban Affairs Committee telling us (GMA) that he was shocked to hear the financial institutions were in melt down mode.

For any who doesn't know, Chris's committee has jurisdiction over financial institutions. Chris Dodd is also the leader (with Barack Obama just behind him) of campaign contributions (not to mention his sweetheart mortgage deals) from Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac.

So surprise surprise taxpayer: you just contributed to Obama and Dodd whether you wanted to or not. Ain't that a sweet thing to wake up to.

What Rangel said: "There is no question about politically it's a nightmare to think that a person's foreign policy is based on their ability to look at Russia from where they live."

What Rangel didn't say: "There is no question about politically it's a nightmare to pretend that a person's foreign policy is based on their ability to look at Russia from where they live because it's politically convenient for one to be deliberately stupid and ignorant of the facts about that person.  But you know, I can be as stupid and ignorant as anybody if it's politically convenient."
