I think the clearest example that hollywood intentionally does this shit(as if it wasn't so obvious already) was the movie "The Sum of All Fears". It's not like they wrote the script and made a movie. Michael Moriarity wasn't a Republican. He made some public comments about NBC when NBC prevented a particularly controversal episode from being shown, decrying it as a violation of free speech. Dick Wolf and MM apparently had some words and Dick Wolf made an "all-cop" episode of L&O which MM took as a sign to leave.

L&O always had a liberal bent. But it seemed much more natural in the early years (we are talking about New York city here, I would expect the characters to be somewhat liberal). Now it seems full on Kos kids liberal. Though I don't watch it anymore, I get that impression, for example, when flipping through channels and see McCoy prosecuting a former U.S DA who wrote a memo clarifying the use of force in interrogating terrorists.
