— Ace Yesterday:
"Judging from news reports and the portrayal of villains in our popular entertainment, Americans are bedeviled by fantasies about terrorism. They seem to believe that terrorism is the greatest threat to the United States and that it is becoming more widespread and lethal. They are likely to think that the United States is the most popular target of terrorists. And they almost certainly have the impression that extremist Islamic groups cause most terrorism."None of these beliefs are based in fact. ... While terrorism is not vanquished, in a world where thousands of nuclear warheads are still aimed across the continents, terrorism is not the biggest security challenge confronting the United States, and it should not be portrayed that way."
--Larry C. Johnson, "The Declining Terrorist Threat," New York Times, July 10, 2001. Johnson, a former CIA officer, was deputy director of the U.S. State Department's Office of Counterterrorism from 1989 to 1993.
Today. I'd swipe that post, but I can't in good conscience. You'll just have to click.
I was wondering how Keith "I Question the Timing of These Fictitious Terrorist Alerts" Olbermann would avoid covering the story. Well, he's not avoiding it. Larry C. Johnson, terrorism denier, announces:
I will be on Countdown with Keith Olbermann tonight, probably in the fourth segment.
Thanks to Instapundit.
Ohhh... Remember, this is 1) a former CIA agent and 2) a guy making a living out of bashing Bush for his not taking terrorist threats seriously before 9/11.

Maybe he just read your fucking memo, Larry.
I can call you Larry, right?
No?
How about Mr. Hyperpartisan Silly Bitch? How's that work for ya?
Are you blaming Bush, Larry? Isn't that really just blaming yourself?
When you come to grips with your own complicity for 9/11, maybe you'll be able to let some of this seething hatred go.
This one-man brain-trust was a CIA agent before 9/11? And yet Al Qaeda was able to hit us nevertheless? Huh. What a fucking shock.

I wonder if he would put his money where his mouth is and stand within a 100 feet of one when it detonates.

I like the part of Larry "Super Spy" Johnson post where he denigrates that courage of the cop who saved untold lives. Stay classy "Super Spy", stay classy.

"Right?"
"Right?"
Bitch, Ron Paul is not just "right." He's infallible and glows like Moses bringing the Ten commandments down from Mt. Sinai. Except he's got a Constitution and isn't afraid to use it.

I was thinking today about the slaughter of over 200 of our marines in Beirut in 1983. 200+ brave and precious souls whose families know without a doubt that terrorism is not a fantasy. Then start going down the long, long list of atrocities. Check them out at thereligionofpeace.com.

Super Spy Larry (Reach Around) Johnson is so smart that he already figured out this bomb plot in London and just didn't want to scare the rest of us mere mortals by giving away the details. That's why he posted that incredibly lame knee jerk piece that made him look like an idiot for the umpteenth time.
Bet you didn't know that about him. He'll rip off your head and shit down your neck if you doubt him he's so tough. He'll tell you himself.

The only positive side I see here is that when the bomb goes off in DC many of them and their fellow travelers will be baked in the afterglow.

Oh Lord, won't you buy me a pundit or two.
My friends all have Rushes, I sure want one, too.
Thought hard all my life
No venue too poor.
But Lord, what Keith found me, is covered in poo.
Sue, or maybee, or one of the other wise distaffs on staff at JOM, wonders why Larry Johnson expends so much effort dismissing the threat of terrorism, and Iran.

"Yes, George."
"I wonder what Richard Clarke has been goin' on about?"
"Richard who?"
"Good...I guess it's safe to assume, I can go down to the school-house, and read My Pet Goat to the children, and leave Karl n' Dick in charge."
"Yes, Dear...Larry says so...He's "CIA" y'know."

So, Keith, want to go to Scotland?
Oh, c'mon. That and the two bombs yesterday were planted by MI5. Or so says my Rontard© coworker. Cui bono, people. Google it!

Get with the program. For Lar Lar Jinks it is only an event if a bunch of people die. If a terrorist plot succeeds, then GWB caused it, should have known about it and should have stopped it. GWB may even have been complicit in it if you want to get a little edgy. All these failed "events" are just a way for the administration to control us through their campaign of fearmongering.
Full Meme Ahead!!!!!

the portrayal of villains in our popular entertainment
Does he even watch TV? All of our villains our blue eyed, blonde haired, left over commie-nazis who refuse to accept WWII and/or the Cold War is over. Anytime a realistic bad guy appears i.e. a Muslim Terrorist, people like him scream too much about it.

Thank god.
Had those 150,000 America troops not been in Iraq yesterday, burning all the US maps they can find so that the travel-eager terrorists won't follow them home, then there's no way that the British could have lucked into stopping those potential twin attacks.
London is safe for the moment and it's because of leadership, the Bush kind, his foresight in placing and keeping troops right where they're needed.
The world owes this man a rigorous, intellectual evaluation and in a time, surely, history will see that he gets it.
