— Ace Not good news though, because Virginia is trending Democratic, Mark Warner could run from his seat, and I think I was told that John Warner's preferred protege is a RINO in his mold.

As a life-long VA resident, I'm legitimately heartbroken that our once proud state has essentially turned into a new blue haven.
I'm sadly expecting the Dems to pick up his seat. Good riddance to Warner, but as RINOs go (and recent idiocy on his part aside), he wasn't the most offensive one out there

Oh dear God, don't tell me he got caught 'in a wide stance' in a mens room too!

It's really only blue in Northern Va the bulk of the state is still RED, baby and this state loves it's guns so whomever runs on the left better be a second amendment lover or they are toast before they even start.
The blue of Northern VA and the urban areas of Richmond are strangling the red portions of the rest of the state. It's why Webb managed to win, "Macaca" notwithstanding.
I have no doubt that Mark Warner could win it, if he runs. He's well beloved in VA, and nowhere near the buffoon that his chosen successor (Kaine) is. Davis would give him a run for his money, but I think he'd go down. Which could have further disastrous effect: I do NOT want Gerald Connolly in Congress. Guy's as big of a crook as they come.

I think VA is much less "blue" than most people think.
The Dems who are elected to state wide office run like Republicans. It's usually hard to figure out which is which during the campaigns.
You know, until they're elected and they start governing as Dems.

Given that most of the GOP is content to spend and legislate like Democrats once they reach Richmond it's plenty hard to figure out which is which after the elections too.
