They are pushing for the draft for exactly the reasons sini stated. Creating an environment for the draft is exactly the reason that there is false reporting about troop morale, medical care, general troop levels and training.
They are trying to exaggerate "demand" creating a "supply" deficit, allowing them to "go back to" the "citizen soldier" concept of society via conscription.
Conscript army's SUCK. And assholes who think that creating a shitty army is the path to political success is a fucking traitor.

Democrats: making decisions
Posted by: benrand at March 30, 2007 10:42 AM (G0Mde)
You need a lot of resentful, uneducated, drug-addled, natural Democrats
I'm sorry, I wasn't listening, did somebody call me ?

Yeah, right.
Sure, take our current kick-ass volunteer armed forces and add 4 times the number of unwilling time-servers, REMFs, and trouble-makers. I don't suppose Uncle John is gonna vote for increasing the budget 4 times over to make sure there is adequate training, housing, equipment, health care, and pensions for all those new draftees?
Yeah, right!
I don't suppose all those anti-war anti-Amerikan anarchist terrorist-hugging Chavez & Castro kissing flag burning Joooo-hating goracle worshipping freaks are gonna honor their draft numbers and actually SERVE when call to do so?
Yeah, ri-i-ight!
I don't suppose a draft-inflated military force is going to be any more dangerous to our international enemies when a bunch of p****whipped cowardly f****tard Dhimmicrats are running the government?
Yeah, RI-I-IGHT!
What would we do with that sort of thing, anyway? We have enough military personnel right now to whip all the Jihadi Joes on the f*****g planet right now IF they were given a real chance. What does Uncle John want us to do, fight a war with China?
YEAH, RI-I-I-IGHT!!
CAN we question their patriotism now?

We're well past that now. The next test was questioning his sanity. Failed that one too.
The only thing to question now is his girth and hat size... or favorite color.

I'm not in a very tolerant mood today, especially of rabid nutjobs with too much airtime. .

Uncle John
I don't like that moniker. The greatest intellectual and human influence on my life was my aunts husband "john" so he's my "uncle john."
Can we call him "prince john" or something? Princes tend to be small, self serving and petulant.

*The first was actually a sort of public service requirement in the Edwards/Kerry platform for 2004 that they later deleted.

Every time I hear some talking head say "Congressman John Murtha of Pennsylvania", I fight the urge to grimace and scream "He's from Western Pennsylvania! Why, it's practically Ohio, for God's sake!"
Posted by: Xoxotl at March 30, 2007 02:28 PM (F/ysA)
Tell me about it, Xoxotl.
I grew up in his district. He brings so much pork there that he'll never lose his seat. After the steel mills closed, the Prince of Pork saved the economy.
He's like a thrid-world caudillo.

So, can anyone clear up for me why Penn staters didn't send him a "Dear John" letter, with all that it entails?
John, from one ex-soldier to another--go f*ck yourself.

Does that mean Eastern Pennsylvania is practically New Jersey??
Posted by: Stillers at March 30, 2007 07:41 PM (blNMI)
No, it means western NJ is actually more like central PA.
