— Ace Well, he's addressing "Frank" here, but I think "Frank" simply represents most of us, in Joe Biden's estimation.
The boast would be annoying enough if it were true. It turns out -- no, it's really not true at all.
He didn't get a full scholarship, and the partial scholarship he received was based purely on financial need, not academic excellence. He graduated 76th of 85 students, not "in the top half" of his class. He didn't get "three degrees" in college; he got one degree in a double major, which is hardly some sort of amazing feat. (Where did he get three degrees from? No idea. Captain Ed suggests that math was obviously not one of the three.)
The only thing which may or may not be true is that "outstanding student in political science" thing.
As Mickey Kaus notes, it's easy to feel sympathy for Biden at the question itself -- the sort of credentialist crap we expect from the media (who tend not to be the brightest coins in the piggy bank, either) -- but that sympathy evaporates due to his arrogant answer. Which turns out to be not merely arrogant, but in fact almost completely dishonest to boot.
But surely this was merely a youthful indiscretion when he was but a callow lad of 40-such, right? Well, no. He also conjures up a trio of ridiculous Biden Under Fire scenarios to show what a globe-hopping tough-guy he is, too. And he did that at this season's debates.

Just look at Biden's legislative achievements -- there are none. Thirty-five yars in the senate and Biden has almost nothing to show for it. He's John Kerry plus ten years at the Federal teet.

Let's look at Biden's foreing-issue expertise in action. He's got no such examples. How many times did President Clinton call upon Joe Biden, foreign-relations extraordinaire, for consult? None that we know of. Which means none times.

The problem with Biden is that when you look at key issues, he either:
A. Agreed with McCain in areas Obama has lambasted McCain for.
B. Favored things that would have been very bad in retrospect (if I remember correctly, opposing areas of Reagan's defense build-up)

Biden is the Frank Dux of resume-padding cocksuckers.
Dux: I have three hundred consecutive wins in an secret underground fight tournament called the Kumite.
Reporter: Can you provide any documentation or proof of this?
Dux: Of course not! Didn't you hear me say it was a "secret underground" kinda thing? If I could show you proof, then it wouldn't very well be secret, now would it?
Dux: I also was recruited by the CIA to undertake several top-secret missions overseas.
Reporter: The CIA says they've never heard of you.
Dux: OF COURSE THEY WOULD SAY THAT! THAT'S BECAUSE IT WAS FUCKING TOP SECRET!

I know one with a PhD who still thinks everyone else fakes it as much as he does.
Plus, Biden went to law school, where they seem to teach students that they're *all* smarter than any non-lawyer. I've heard too many times the claim that "with a law degree you can do anything." (I trot out my non-exhaustive list of brain surgery, cemetery design, and barbering, but it doesn't seem to register with the brainiac lawyer-type who just made the moronic assertion.)
Bottom line: really 'smart' people rarely have to brag about their IQ. (I'd love to give a real IQ test to everyone in Congress. What a hoot. I'm betting a couple wouldn't reach room temp.)

That's spot on, never known a smart person feel the need to say they were smart. Smart people really know that they are not that smart in that there is so much that they don"t know or can understand. My dad who was an Air Force officer, born in abject poverty in rural remote (think hillbilly) Kentucky was awarded two masters degrees, was a real scholar and so much more. He more taught me that you should never blow your own horn, that if you were really worthy of praise , than others would blow the horn for you.

Let's talk houses! If Joe Biden is so poor financially with almost no assets, how does he afford his house and his fancy cars? Here's an overview of his compound:, and remember folks, his tax value is based on 1983 market value:
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=nncgHGVcN7Q
Q. What are New Castle County property values based on?
A. These assessed values are based on 100% of the July 1, 1983 fair market value. The last countywide revaluation was in 1983, with the changes effective July 1, 1985. These values are for tax purposes only.

If the Dems are talking houses, let's talk houses! The press already knows where his house is, and the link below is public information posted on the County's website. Is this listed on his assets? My bet is his disclosure (if the compound is listed at all) is at the 1983 value. Homes in that area on 1 acre, similar size, sell for +$2M. Multiply that times 4 and you have a better idea of the Biden's home's worth. Plus he's made several additions to the home. All the permits are also public information. His net worth is much more than he claims. How does he pay for his fancy cars, like the Corvette convertible? I think he's either lying, or hiding his assets. I hope all of this is vetted.

The look on the woman's face says it all.
He lectures "all you technocrats" like he isn't an equal offender. He thinks it's ironic that Reagan could stand for something while dems don't anymore. It's like he's trying to disect "that vision thing" so he can put it in a jar and sell it. Clueless prick.

It's Biden on the senate floor when McCain pushed the surge.
He specifically says the surge can't work, it's impossible. Not even if we doubled it.
No amount of force could stop the sectarian violence.
"Mark my words" he says. Duly noted senator.
He sights his experience in Kosovo and the disaster there as proof.
Only his solution of carving up Iraq into 3 countries could work.

And (former) law school students exaggerating their performance and class ranking to others? Perish the thought!
That's why they put magna cum laude, summa cum laude, and cum laude on some of those really expensive diplomas.

The thing that constantly amazes me is: not that the Dems (and indeed all pols) LIE, it's that they tell Stupid Lies! The difference with the Dems is that they tell lies which are easily checked and proven to be Lies. Then they admit their mistake? NO! They add some more Lies, attack the integrity of those who question their Lies, and tell some more Whoppers to dig that hole deeper and deeper.
And they all do it!@ Hillary! Billy, Obama (both of them) and now their VP too. Nancy, Rev Jackson, Kennedy (2 of the 3 apparently) all of them!
Question: Is there ONE person (now that they booted Leiberman out of the party) in the Dem who knows the truth when it bites them on the ass?
(ooo! sorry for my secret racist comment there. Ass? Black folks? I'm just a bad cat, I am)

He screams and whines, but his solution is grotesque, and his having visited lots of places on the people's dime doesn't seem all that impressive. "I was there at Sarajevo!" What did you do about it?
Biden spends 100% of his time telling people how great he is, but people tend to hate that approach. Is Biden going to listen to Obama's campaign when it tells him he's harming the campaign by speaking out of turn? Hell no he isn't. He wanted to pursue the plan of ehtnic cleansing, so long as each group gets its area to cleanse. No wonder the Iraqis hate his guts.
He's going to spend the debates trying to yell at the other party, but instead of discussing the other ideas, he's going to say they are wrong because his years of visiting cool locales says so. It's going to come across as ridiculous.
Obama got no poll boost from this decision. The media isn't reacting much, but all the talking heads were telling us all week how Obama just needed to pick a veep to get a few points and retake the lead. With Biden, this is the high point. His just being selected and having a lot of experience in the Senate is all most folks are aware of. As they see the details.... it's not going to be pretty.
Sadly, Biden is Obama's most major decision... ever. He's already contradicted his Iraq decision in selecting Biden. I am convinced that Obama's VP choice will define his entire campaign, whereas Mccain has too many other huge events in his history for his VP selection to be so influential. What do we know about Obama's ability to decide beyond choosing Biden?
If Obama somehow manages to turn it around, we all can see that he'll just take the conventional wisdom approach to everything. Bill Clinton did not do that, because Bill Clinton, like him or not, was a smart and effective governing leader who was perhaps too cunning (and too dishonest). Jimmy Carter or worse.

Joe Biden voted "yea" on the 2002 Resolution authorizing use of force in Iraq. 77 Senators voted "yea", including Hillary Clinton, John Kerry & John Edwards.
Only his solution of carving up Iraq into 3 countries could work.
Joe needs to be hammered on the idiocy of the grand plan he proposed during the worst times of sectarian violence in Iraq.
