— Ace Israel apparently got a motivational speech from the Alec Baldwin character in Glengarry Glen Ross.
You know what it takes to fight terrorism? It takes brass balls to fight terrorism.
ISRAEL last night threatened to assassinate Palestinian Prime Minister Ismael Haniyeh if Hamas militants did not release a captured Israeli soldier unharmed. The unprecedented warning was delivered to Palestinian President Mahmoud Abbas in a letter as Israel debated a deal offered by Hamas to free Corporal Gilad Shalit.
It came as Israeli military officials readied a second invasion force for a huge offensive into Gaza.
Hamas's Gaza-based political leaders, including Mr Haniyeh, had already gone into hiding.
But last night's direct threat to kill Mr Haniyeh, a democratically elected head of state, sharply raised the stakes.
Waaaah... but if we do things like this, we lose to the terrorists!
No, if we lose to the terrorists we lose to the terrorists. If we kill the terrorists, we win.
Duh.
Another Israeli Soldier Captured, Militants Claim: Kill three or four members of the terrorist cabinet, then.

Not this human. My human instincts teach me to be tolerant but not a fool. If someone tells you enough times they want to kill you, and demonstrates they will do it, I say, after you. The life of one soldier, abducted at the hands and by the direction of Hamas, is worth no less than any member of Hamas.
They bring a knife, you bring a gun.

A Hamas spokesman said the group would never recognise Israel, in spite of a deal its leaders signed this week offering implicit recognition of the Jewish state in return for easing an economic blockade.
Reminds me of the story of the scorpion and the frog.

The Arabs have been extremely successful at killing for their countries. Think how many children they've blown up, cripples they pushed off cruise ships, etc.
There's the old saying - "His lust stops at nothing except young, unmarried women."
Arabs ability to kill stops at nothing except armed soldiers.

Thanks Jack, perhaps you could also manage to read my posts as well sometime before launching your junior high level strawman insults.
For the record, I have no problem with this at all. Democratic heads of state, as commander in chief of a nation's military forces, are prefectly legitimate targets in times of war. And in kidnapping an Israeli soldier, Hamas has most certainly established itself as at war with Israel.
So why exactly do you presume I would object here?

Precisely because I have read your posts. You seem unable to grasp the nature of the people we are at war with and their tactics. You seem terribly concerned with Palestinian children, not so much for Israeli and American children who have been not only killed, but targeted by Palestinians.
The Palestinians are terrorists. Period, end of story. They have taken every opportunity for peace and turned it into an excuse for war.
The Palestinians and the scum who support and use them don't want peace. They want domination and elimination. People like you who equivocate and wring their hands and worry about "the root cause" help weaken the resolve of the west and make it easier to condem the Israelis instead of placing the blame where it belongs. Squarely on the shoulders of the Palestinians.

How exactly does my objection to the indiscriminate targeting of Palestinian civilians (willingly and gleefully I might add, judging by the attitude of many on this blog) entail a lack of concern for the victims of Palestinian terrorism? It doesn't, as the commander of the IAF explains here:

And you're and enabler and supporter of wanton idiocy and barely literate political commentary. Seriously dumbass, do you really believe that objecting to the wholesale massacre of Palestinian civilians is necessarily coextensive with the support of Palestinian terrorism? If so that means that the IDF and the US Army are two of the chief terrorist supporters and enablers in the world today. Are you really that stupid, or can you simply not be bothered to think for more than two seconds before you post shit on here?
Pacifism may be objectively pro-fascist, but so, I would argue, is the kind of racist, reflexively anti-Muslim jingoism you read from luminaries on here, which seeks to fight the WOT in a way that would give bin Laden exactly what he wants (i.e. a Crusade), and exactly what the Bush Administration has fought to avoid for five years now.
"That being said, Jason, can't you take the comments here as an expression of our frustration with the Palestinians? "
Sure, and I have conceded this repeatedly. However, while frustration may make angry rebarbrative statements more venial, someone still needs to point out they are rebarbrative nonetheless. I'm as frustrated with the Palestinians as anyone, and if they actually use chemical weapons on Israel I would support their wholesale expulsion from Gaza and the West Bank. Yet what I often hear here is the advocacy of a genocidal war against the Palestinians and Muslims in general that is deeply disturbing and needs to be denounced, regardless of the frustration informing it. And I know people don't like me for doing that, but there it is anyway.

We, the west, have been fighting Islamic terrorism for decades. We have been losing. I really don't give a damn wether you understand it or not.
I am sick to death of people like you telling me that we need to be better than the people who are trying to kill every man woman and child who basically isn't a part of barbaric backward way of life.
I merely pointed out the emptiness of your point of view by highlighting the Palestinian's duplicity and willingness to have their leaders lie and murder in order to further their goals. You, as predictable as a monkey on a chain, reacted with a typical hissy fit about how noble the people of Israel are, how wise the men and women of our military.
Well here's a lighting bolt, dumbass. Watch what happens not what they say. The Israelis are tremendously punitive in their treatment of the Palestinian population. They blow up their infrastructure and shut down their commerce. They bulldoze houses, take land and build settlements. They fire rockets at terrorists and try to avoid colateral damage but if it happens, it happens. Much the same as the US army shooting a rocket at Zarqawi and killing his 16 year old wife and 18 month old child ( do the math on that one). I, for one, do not give a damn.
I am sick of hearing about teenage Palestinian suicide bombers blowing up buses and pizza parlors and weddings and night clubs, etc. ad infinitum. I am sick of terrorists using women a children as shields and weapons and waiting for people such as yourself to bitch when they are killed for protecting and supporting killers. I am sick of the worthless and utterly wrong headed arguement that says that if we retaliate then all we are doing is creating more terrorists. Bullshit.
I don't want to have these people as my enemy. But they want me as theirs. And they want you. And they are willing to do unspeakable things and kill anyone, women and children included, in order to further their goals. You are free to believe what you want as am I. But save me your juvenile preaching about how we need to fight with our pinky's extended against cold blooded killers.
Just out of curiosity, Jason, can you tell me what happened during the bombing of Dresden? Exactly who do you think was killed at Hiroshima, Nagasaki? Do you really have any clue what you are talking about at all or are you just parroting some high school ethics course?

1) The ISS wouldn't need to be resupplied at all if we'd stop throwing good money after bad.
2) You have any idea how long the ISS has been up there? You know what it's accomplished? You know how much money we've spent on it? And do you know whether the American people want it to complete its "mission" in the first place?
3) You have any idea what kind of risks Americans take each and every time a shuttle is launched? You want to engage me in a debate concerning the gambles versus the benefits? I'm right here. Make your case.
ErikW continued: "There's a lot of things that can be accomplished in zero G that can't be done here on Earth."

In order to learn how to survive in space, we have to actually do it. The ISS is a pretty lame program in a lot of ways, but it isn't worthless. We're learning how to keep a space station going, which will enable us to have better space stations in the future (preferably big rotating ones for artificial gravity).

I prefer retail expulsion, myself: you get more selection and variety that way. But regarding your chem-weapon stance, let's just note that you, Jason, don't get comparably stressed when Palis kill and mutilate thousands of Israeli men, women and utterly helpless little kids with off-the-shelf weapons.
Got it. Message received.
Now, moving on to the P.S. newsflash: The Palis already did it. In Gaza they brag today about firing a chem-warhead into southern Israel on Wednesday.
It's no surprise. They've been working on it for three years.
Looks like they missed their target on that first shot. This didn't happen Wednesday. But I'll take the Palis at their word this time: they've fired a chemical warhead missile into Israel, and not a single Pali minister lifted his mudflaps in remorse.
So. "What is to be done," Jason?

It's back up- secondary power source.
The space shuttle program needs to be shitcanned. You'd think after some 14 astronauts were killed they would have pulled the plug, but I guess there's too much money to be made.
We went to the moon in the late 60s- early 70s. Why'd we stop there? I guess 'cuz we proved to the Russkies and ChiComs we could do it. Now we're resting on our laurels by doing victory laps around Earth, and building some tinkertoy space station that'll end up being abandoned to orbital decay some day.
We could be going to Mars, but that won't happen. Too expensive, too hard right now. We could go back to the moon, but why? Been there, done that, left some tire tracks.
Un-manned missions seem best right now. Those Mars rovers have re-written the book on Mars, and when they eventually crap out, there's no funeral.
If there is any real job for the shuttle it would be to start the clean-up of all the junk in orbit around the earth. Let's at least police up our brass, and then retire the shuttles.
