Update: Alternate Link Added
— Ace A mash-up of a rap by L'Trimm about cars and Gary Numan's Cars, plus, more towards the end, the Beatles' Drive My Car.
powered by ODEO
Thanks to steve_from_hb. I think. Because the only part I think I really like is the Gary Numan Cars riff, which I just like anyway. Drive My Car is eh, but it's completely shoehorned into the mash-up and doesn't mix into it well at all.
Update: Okay, at the end, he mashes Cars with Drive My Car and it's kind of cool. Plus, the rap is growing on me.
From this DJ guy. Try clicking that if you get an error from the embedded player, which I'm getting.
Theory: You can mix that Cars riff into virtually anything and make it sound 40% cooler.
Just a working theory.
Another Link: I'm not sure if that odeon link just sucks or if it's getting too much traffic. steve suggests this alternate link to the song, but that's also not working for me.
I needs me my Bunny and Tigrah.

Me and all my AD&D-playing friends used to snicker at the godawful thick Brooklyn accents the L'Trimm girls had.
Thanks for making me feel old, Ace. I appreciate it.
Damn kids! Get off my lawn!

I loved that bad half assed chick rap crap. like JJ Fad the "fast rap" is funny as shit.
Or ya kid K who wasn't bad, but too poppy, cuz the house and live mix stuff was playing on bad boy bill around here at that time.

Yeah, there's no reason for the Beatles bit - it doesn't really work. "Black Beatles" by Loo and Placido is a lot better. Loo and Placido do quality work. dj BC is good also.

It was a good entertaining movie. A lot of people just remember full force, but they overlook the fact that there were a lot of good bits in that flic, and while kidd and play had a career they weren't rap ninja's, they were popular but They made the move pretty good.
I still like when play does the leg loop hop while vacuuming and then he looks around an empty house to see if anyone saw him miss it.

Cool story I saw in a history of rap thing on vh-1 or bet or something.
Rob Base and Easy only had the one song, it takes two, but to get pressed they needed a B side, so they stole someone elses beat, and just picked a bunch of cliche's and rhymes to fill it out.
I think those were their only two songs.
Posted by: Wickedpinto at June 30, 2007 05:01 PM (QTv8u)
Honestly I listen everything I can find from that time even if I don't like it. It kinda frightens people when you have that shit blaring out your car.
If you are willing to rock out to any of those songs on the road, people assume that you ain't affraid of NOTHING!

I remember House Party for the brief magical moment when Tisha Campbell is seen in skimpy little panties while trying to dress quickly due to her parents' return.
The one dude from Full Force was hilarious - the non-buff one.

the "break his legs and kick his. . ." that one?
I think the funniest line is probably "and I'm just about to wax that ass? And all I can think about is that KIDD!"
"I don't know about that."
"I Don't know about YOU!"

Ace -
Who you trying to fool? - the only music you listened to during the late 80's was Floyd and Elvis Costello.

I can't remember Mark, it might have been his personal 1 hit, but I think he was wrote other synth songs that got big, I'm almost possitive that gary was a producer or sound engineer on some big songs.
Best one hit oneder is almost impossible to predict, there were so many of them in the mid late seventies, and throughout the eighties, that you can't make a fair call. Honestly, you think "Cars" is better than "come on eileen?"

Posted by: Wickedpinto at June 30, 2007 07:34 PM (QTv8u)
The eighties had so many good, bad and phenomenal cartoons that it was a market, everything went to shit in the 90's, or it turned into vague and meaningless anime' wannabe's that really missed out on the fact that japanimation was ADULT!
There really aren't any well made cartoons for kids anymore.

Back to music since forged threw me "douche" which is actually "Deuce," Hey, I'm not saying I know what the fuck it means, that whole song is bizzarre, I even know the counterpoint, I love it, but, I wanna throw this at you.
"I came for you." It's a "remix" but not really, it's just got a heavier bass than the original but it's the same song only with an irritating bass inclusion.
And Here is something that is interesting.
The Lead guitarist and singer for "I came for you" is Trevor Rabin, who also did all of the session work on one of the YES albums, and Trevor Rabin PARTLY left YES and refused to tour because of Trevor Horn's (founder of "art of noise" the max headroom guys) desire to perform live only the experimental progressive music like "I am a Camera" with his mediocre vocals, while simultaneously FASCINATING musical style. Still Jon Anderson while locked into a rather narrow high range was a much better singer.
Anyways, Trevor Rabin, primary writer guitarist and singer for "I came for you" played with YES at the same time as Trevor Horn who really, was responsible for the most pathetic period of Yes's career.
The album after the one that had "I am a Camera" is the one that had "Owner of a lonely heart" which Was also almost exclusively created in sessions before Horn joined musicaly by Trevor Rabin.
Got a friend (who I haven't spoken with in some time actually) who is a MASSIVE YES/progressive music fan.

Nope, thats trevor horn forged, now Trevor Rabin is a talented fuck.
Manfredd man, Yes, and Frank Zappa may not be to everyones tastes but I don't think there can be a doubt that all three managed to look for, find and develope the most talented musicians in music.
Terry bozzio, Steve Vai, Trever Rabin, Rick Wakemen God I can't remember all of them now.
Fucking GENIUS musicians, though their personal music was somewhat mediocre for entertainment (except for yes, they managed to come out with about a 30 percentile of good songs) Frank is pure flavor, and manfredd man was so pop that you KNOW the musicians wanted to stab the producers in the face with the nearest dull object.
Posted by: Wickedpinto at June 30, 2007 09:35 PM (QTv8u)
I once heard someone tell me that Ozzy recognized tallent, well NO SHIT! his guitarists played for zappa, other than the dead guy, who was decent but not great, but he created great things with ozzy, and how did he learn? By being mediocre while playing with SWEET and then quiet riot, and every guitarist since has basicly played with Zappa, and 1 drummer played with zappa (he toured with bozzio, bozzio quit) and another played for SHIT!!! Castrinovo? who did castrinovo play for?
You know who else managed to surround himself with great musicians?
This will sound ridiculous but it's true, at least in the rythm section.
John Fucking Cougar, fucking Mellencamp.

And leave it is a much, much better song than Owner of a Lonely Heart, which is bad, and overplayed to the point of becoming outright awful.
Manfred Mann covered two Bruce Springsteen songs, both, I think, from Welcome to Asbury Park, I Came For You and Blinded By the Light. I think that's a bit much, huh?
Posted by: ace at July 01, 2007 10:15 AM (1UCRY)
I always hated Yes and always will. Also, always hated Rush and always will.
Although, growing up, my family had a plastic Rick Wakemen Slurpee cup that did many years of noble service holding the marbles for our Chinese checkers game - so I guess I shouldn't be so harsh.
Springsteen sucks also - which made growing up in NJ annoying at times.
