The relentless "TORTURE!!11!!" attacks notwithstanding (and by that I mean they aren't going to stop until Cheney and Bush are indicted), you have to love the "$1,000 a day" crap.
Yeah. $125 bucks an hour. That's a princely sum.
This post saved 1,252 jobs today, and created another 175.
JOB CREATION UPDATE: from the comments. Anybody remember when outing "nine to five ninja" (lauraw has such a way with words*) was the most egregious national security leak offense eveh? That was a "crime". This is some sort of moral imperative.
yeah, me either.
* ok, "double oh soccer mom" was ace's. I can't remember what anybody does around here anymore. Original material here.

Harsh interrogations
In speaking to reporters Wednesday, Holder also said it is possible the United States could cooperate with a foreign court's investigation of Bush administration officials.
Holder spoke before the announcement that a Spanish magistrate had opened an investigation of Bush officials on harsh interrogation methods. Holder didn't rule out cooperating in such a probe.
"Obviously, we would look at any request that would come from a court in any country and see how and whether we should comply with it," Holder said.
"This is an administration that is determined to conduct itself by the rule of law and to the extent that we receive lawful requests from an appropriately created court, we would obviously respond to it," he said.
Pressed on whether that meant the United States would cooperate with a foreign court prosecuting Bush administration officials, Holder said he was talking about evidentiary requests, and would review any such request to see if the U.S. would comply.

Those guys are going to need legal defense funds and security guards for the rest of their lives. I just dont understand how those journalists can sleep at night, not to mention the leakers at CIA - their actions will lead to serious financial and psychological harm to these two guys and their families and maybe death.

Only 25% oppose these guys.
Amid intense debate over the use of torture against suspected terrorists, public opinion about this issue remains fairly stable. Currently, nearly half say the use of torture under such circumstances is often (15%) or sometimes (34%) justified; about the same proportion believes that the torture of suspected terrorists is rarely (22%) or never (25%) justified.
The latest national survey by the Pew Research Center for\ the People & the Press, conducted April 14-21 among 742 adults interviewed in English and Spanish on landlines and cell phones, finds little change in opinions about the use of torture against suspected terrorists.

Noticed the majority if not all of the comments there calling ABC treasonous and worse.
Would have left this comment but they don't have the balls to allow anonymous comments.
ABC, with the recent 2A hit piece, and this article, it makes me wonder whether there is anyone left there that has any ethics, not to mention journalistic integrity. Is it any wonder why your ratings and advertising revenue are tanking. Here's a hint, try reporting the news instead of trying to make it.
Consumers of consequence to your viability do not want to be told how to think, they want to be presented with unbiased facts and remain free to make up their own opinion. Get off your elitist pedestal, and start living up to your responsibility under the 1st Amendment.
I recognize that this will fall on deaf ears - keep up the good work. With any luck, you will put your pitiful network out of business. I will not watch your network, and I will not support your advertisers if I happen to view your programming by some mistake.

@43, thanks for the link:
I think it is worth pointing out that Col. Steve Keinman, an Air Force Intelligence officer, has to say about the methods used:
"And is it necessary to get intelligence? Is it required that we use these methods because there's no other way to get it? The 24-plus years of interrogation experience that as an intelligence officer in the same period of time, I'm suggesting very strongly that absolutely not. We don't need to do that. "
The real scandal here is that these methods were used, not that they are being exposed.

Look, there is a simple solution to all this shit. I suggested earlier that we establish a list of all the "journalist / Obama-admin get-to-know-each-other" dinner attendees so we can put asterisks by there names everytime we comment on their latest "reporting".
I also think we should compile a list of the camermen, reporters and talking heads at ABC that run with these type of expose's. Then next time there is a terrorist attack, simply publish all of their names along with their pictures.
These people believe that they have the moral imperitive to expose those who undertake to defend their country, based on the flawed logic that in hindsight, no more attacks occurred, so the defense was unnecessary. So I am sure that they will understand that those who undertake to endanger their country also need to be exposed, when it becomes apparent that they were wrong, and that further defence was in fact required, and they thwarted it.
Fair is fair.

This motherfucker for president says Churchill didnÂ’t condone torture. ThatÂ’s probably right; however Churchill would have defined torture as cutting off ears, putting soldering irons to eyes, smashing nails through bone, etc. Waterboarding? Churchill would have called Hussein a limp-wristed pussy and ordered him to bring him a cigar and a drink.
When I was a kid I set my hair on fire, other kids and I used bullets like fireworks, we poured streaks [40 ft] of gasoline down the street- would set it on fire- then ride our bikes through it and one of the best was laying a tarp over my pool and a friend and I would jump in the middle of it; the game was to try and find your way out while underwater. To say we were utterly out of our minds is an understatement. If I came home and my mom found my friends and I waterboarding each other she would say “thank God, at least they can’t hurt each other.”

People say, "well, the next attack will be on their heads," but they don't MIND. Obama thinks a few thousand American lives are a small price to pay for following his supposedly higher moral values (which aren't, of course).
Leftists figure we have it coming to make up for us all being so bad.
I hope they die first, I really do.
It's treason, but apparently there is nothing we can do about it, as treason is now legal, as long as it is the left doing it.

Its a glitch in the matrix, usually it means they changed something. I'm going to go laugh at Ace's second Souter thread.

Jean, I did attempt to paste something, then saw it was a URL I didn't mean to post...which I deleted.
Then I typed in my message.
If I understand you correctly, my attempted URL deletion left behind a bit of an objectionable "something" that led to the "annoying" message.
OK, fine.
But....how about an error message that focuses on what needs correcting, such as:
"Sorry, we're rejecting your message, either because you've posted a URL w/o compressing it to TinyURL.com format, or because you've pasted something with hidden text or control characters etc. that we can't handle".
As one moron to another: who cares if anyone's "annoyed"???
Also: I'm using IE 8.0 . I no longer have anything in the field allowing me to use bold, color, italics etc.
Is that an IE 8.0 issue or an AOSHQ issue?
Thanks,
FAR

effinayright: Before you paste items cut from another site, paste them onto your Windows Notepad first; then copy it from the Notepad. It renders the copied material in plain text (or whatever it's called) and doesn't pick up any of the hidden code from the original site. And then you can paste it into the comments box here without any hassles.

DirectTV: 1- 800-531-5000
Comcast: 1-800-266- 2278
Call them to ask if ABE can be removed from your channel listings, and tell them (politely) why.
They will say they can't do that, but if we fuck up their support lines to complain, it will affect their support call responsiveness stats.
Hit'em where it hurts, at least for a few days.

Thanks, Andy.
I hope Jean re-writes that rejection message to include your sugestion, in order to give fellow miscreants more info as to what they need to do to get right.
"Annoying" just doesn't tell you anything.

Ace, what we need to do is put out at least as much identifying data on the reporters who put this stuff out there.
Y'know, photographs, business address, home address, vehicle description & license plates, preferred lunch & after-work hangouts, vacation plans, where their kids attend school, where their wives work/hang out, who their friends are, where their friends live and work, KOCOA information, et cetera.
Just sayin'.

Luckily, they are in Spokane, the eastern side of the state on the North Idaho border. There has been much talk over the years of combining the Eastern Wa and North Idaho, as their political philosophies and interests are decidedly NOT those of Western Washington- land of the liberals.
Eastern Washington went for Ron Paul in the primaries (surprised the heck out of me) have Cathy McMorris Rodgers (R) an exceptionally good looking conservative firebrand (well she falls down occasionally, but not often) as a very effective Rep and is the home of Fairchild AFB, where exists one of the premier survival training schools in the country. They probably teach waterboarding survival at Fairchild.
Over 4000 attended the tea party in downtown Spokane two weeks ago.
My point is that though we have some wacked out liberals, the vast majority in this neck of the woods are conservative. These guys will more than likely be quaffing many beers "on the house" around here.
Thanks ABC, for putting a target on our entire community. You will be rewarded in kind, God willing.

Here's wishing death on our Treason press.
From the NY Times to ABC "news", these motherfuckers are openly waging war against our nation.
Someday soon we're going to need to hold these traitors accountable.

I'm with Cobalt Shiva.
Post the reporters names, pictures, addresses, phone numbers, and all associated relevant information.
America's press corps is openly waging war on our nation.
Long past time we started fighting back.
