— Purple Avenger Apparently hope and change doesn't include pesky things like free speech or dissent.
...It isn't just conservative sites that Google's Blogger platform is eliminating. For instance, www.comealongway.blogspot.com has been frozen and this one is a Hillary supporting site...Hitler had Brownshirts and Stormtroopers, Stalin had Yezhov/Beria, Algore has Hansen, and now Obama has Google to do the nasty wet work silencing the opposition.

According to the update, it's actually a group of overzealous Obama supporters (possibly including, but not limited to the Downtown Minneapolis Starbucks Morning Mah Jong club, primarily: Biff Hussein Argyle, Muffy Hussein Silverstein, and Willow Blossom Hussein Skye, and also some assorted frequenters of sites run by Markos Hussein Moulitsas and Ariana Hussein Huffington) repeatedly pushing the "this site is spam" button at Blogger.Com, triggering the automatic lockout.

Googles "motto" of "Don't Be Evil" is nothing more than an inside joke and has been for years.
They can do what they want, and we can call them shameless brownshirts for their troubles.

So much for dissent being patriotic.
Paints a real cheery picture of what life in (the former United States of) America would be like under a President Obama - a land where dissenters will either be silenced by force or publicly branded racists.
And, they wonder why we cling bitterly to our freedom.

and would do the same thing if some pro-McCain people tried to shut down pro-Obama blogs.
Is that happening? Are there no rabid Hillarites hitting the spam button? Time will tell I guess

If this continues I'm sure Google will put some method of fix into place.

Problems like these are rampant on the net. Automatic controls will not work.
Anyone registering a complaint about something should be required to supply a valid email address. Once software sends and gets a response, with an explanation of the problem, then things should proceed. The number of complaints would drop to a level that having humans deal with it would be feasible.
What if I don't want to provide me email address for a complaint? Tough shit then, it must not matter to you too much then. The site stays up.

I dunno. My hopes for Recreate '68 were based on Hilary getting the nomination at the last second and Obama's supporters rioting. Somehow I don't think the opposite can happen. The Obamatrons will riot in November if they don't keep this messianic fever in check.

wow shocking If only privately held media companies could be somehow forced by the government to provide equality in service for all.
Continuing to plumb the depths of stupid.

Yeah, John, if it was a conservative company silencing doing this you'd be outraged. Since it's a liberal company silencing criticism of your beloved Messiah (PBUH), suddenly you're a free-market capitalist.

The kind of brilliant comment we've come to expect from John Hussein Chavez Ryan

I saw where Barry renounced the Fairness Doctrine (for now). He may not need it if hordes of bongo drum players swarm and spam news agencies and websites on his behalf.

Although I realize that responding to John Ryan is worthless, as the idiot doesn't actually want to engage in an actual discussion, but prefers to simply drop his silly turds in the punchbowl like a petulant 5-year-old then run away like many a typical leftist coward, I just can't help myself here.
John, is anyone else besides you calling for any sort of government intervention here? Honestly, why do you have a problem with someone pointing out the the simple fact that Google is quite obviously in the tank for Obama?
I mean, that's fine, if they want to be. It's a free country (well, for now, anyway.) Google can do whatever they want. We just think it's important that this situation should be made public. No calls for crack-downs or "Fairness Doctrines." Just a free and open exchange of ideas.
Maybe you and your idealogical brethren wouldn't be so afraid of that concept (and would stop trying to take people like Rush, etc. off the air) if your ideas weren't patently offensive to the general public.

Yes, if only we could put the same people responsible for silencing the opposition in charge of providing "equality in service". Gobama!
Off-topic: I recently acquired a henhouse. Does anyone know where I can get a fox to guard it?
Posted by: dorkafork at June 30, 2008 09:41 AM (kErJj)
Why do you guys continue to respond to John Ryan? He's a pathetic little troll. All he does is leaves his one stinking turd of a comment on a post and he's off never to return.
Seriously the power that be should just replace his posts with "drive-by troll turd." And even calling it that gives more substance to it than what he actually says.

This isn't a free speech issue, as you're free to compete with Google. Ha-ha, but really that's the truth.
It does suggest 'liberal' fascist tendencies are alive and well, which isn't really news if you skim the headlines once in a while.
Bloggers scared the crap out of the authoritarians in power. Now we're seeing payback in the form of arrests in places like Europe, or muzzling by fellow travelers here.
I basically quit blogging at my a couple years ago seeing this on the horizon. Anything you say can and will be used against you, even if you didn't say it (blog comments). When certain thoughts are criminal anybody can be sucked into the legal system. In the UK they've arrested retarded infants for the 'crime' of 'racism'.
It makes sense that a new era of amazing freedom (Internet) would produce the most determined fascists.

If the yahoo Microsoft buyout battle did not show you the clear divide among tech companies when it comes to political stands. The the Google companies motto of "Do no evil" should have tipped you off.
Google is an anti-american, anti capitlism company. Google needs to be avoided. Use MSN search instead.

Heh. Sly humor, or ironic cluelessness? I'm still trying to decide.

The tell will be in how long it takes for the locked sites to be unlocked. PostSecret was locked out by the anti-spam filters a while back, and Google has even locked out its own custom search site as spam. It's an automated process that's poorly designed and badly implemented - and it's a good indicator that it's not something that you should, say, try to build a living on. It took PostSecret less than a day, on a Sunday no less, to get put back up, but there was quite a bit of community outrage, people posting on the help forums, etc.
(Yes, I have a blogspot blog. Yes, I'm an idiot.)

Alice H,
Yeah it after looking it is possible its not an intentional Google attack against those blogs. However it is an intentional attack against these blogs by Obama supporters. They really are getting to be a scary bunch. You think they picked up some of Professor Science's fan's playbooks?
Posted by: buzzion at June 30, 2008 11:11 AM (FL/94)
So far this has just been an abuse of Google's anti-spam system by presumably-pro-Obama people who flagged these blogs as spam blogs. Once Google's system gets a complaint (or maybe some number of complaints), it automatically locks the blog until a human can review it.
Now if after a few days, a Google employee doesn't unlock the blogs, then yes we can start accusing Google of political bias.

The lockouts for some are in their fourth and fifth day now. So much for Google resolving this in a speedy manner. Undoubtedly it has been on their radar for several days already.

Of the 91 pages we tested on the site over the past 90 days, 1 page(s) resulted in malicious software being downloaded and installed without user consent. The last time Google visited this site was on 06/29/2008, and the last time suspicious content was found on this site was on 04/05/2008. Malicious software is hosted on 2 domain(s), including h25.6600.org, dns5.8866.org.
I'm less than convinced.
