— Ace It's kinda funny, and it hits the swing issue of oil, but that's not what makes it good.
What makes it work is that they're finally personalizing this election. George Bush is unpopular (only partly deservedly), and so the Democrats personalize the election by making George Bush the stand-in for every Republican.
Nancy Pelosi is even more unpopular than Bush (and wholly deserving of that honor), and it's high time the Republicans made her the face of the Democratic Party.
And once they've done that, tie her around Obama's neck, too.
People respond to the tangible, not the abstract. (Even Obama's cultists aren't really responding to his meaningless abstractions about Hope and Change; they're just excited a super-liberal, good-looking black guy is going to avenge the many humiliations Bush has inflicted on them.) Make this election first and foremost about Nancy Pelosi and Harry Reid.

I am aghast at how Obama slithered out of Rev. Wright's death-grip. I doubt Nancy draped around his neck, smothering him with kisses and smothering his face in her ample chest will happen.

I still remember a great ad with a Tip O'Niell lookalike riding with a guy who keeps telling him they are about to run out of gas with O'Niell scoffing until they run out of gas.
Pelosi is from my neck of the woods and she is an absolute loon and thug- make this whole thing about the 3 stooges (BO, Harry and San Fran Nan).

This election isn't about just John McCain swinging his bat. To get the real energy solutions (no just inflated tires), there must be a GOP Congress.

the reality is that I doubt most people (even voters) in this country actually know who Nancy Pelosi is. If they see her picture, they couldn't name her, given her name, they couldn't tell you who she is. Same with Harry Reid. Hell, I bet most of them don't even know that dems are in the majority in both houses and/or what that means.
It is congress generically that people don't like. But, ifyou asked them why they don't like congress, you would get schizo answers. this explains why people in a very conservative district can elect a "conservative" democrat without understanding that by doing so they are really furthering the leftist agenda, with which they purportedly disagree.
So, while i have no problem with McCain tying Obama to the unpopular congress, attempting to tie Obama specifically to Pelosi or Reid is not going to work.

I almost think the GOP can not only save some Congressional seats but also pick up a few tight races if they keep this up. High energy costs. Abysmal Democrat Congress. Success in ME/"Surge." A trifecta at the right time.
