— Gabriel Malor Bumped: So what's all this Bedlam stuff about? It all started years ago, right about the time Dave in Texas was born, in fact:
In 1900, in Oklahoma Territory, Oklahoma A&M (later Oklahoma State) veterinary medicine professor Dr. L.L. Lewis assembled a group of A&M students to participate in the first territorial Track and Field Meet. Held on May 4, 1900, the event included Alva Normal College, Central Normal of Edmond, Kingfisher College and the University of Oklahoma, along with OAMC. The prize of the tournament was a silver cup donated by a local jeweler named Douglas. Surprisingly, A&M won the meet and returned to Stillwater with the traveling trophy. In 1901, A&M won again, and a third consecutive win would mean permanent retirement of the Douglas Cup in Stillwater. The meet was held on May 23, 1902, with the Aggies amassing the most points. Oklahoma filed a protest based on the pole vault competition not having been completed due to darkness, however, Oklahoma A&M claimed the Douglas cup. [They were whiners even then.]
The next day the Sooners held their own vault competition and declared themselves the victor. Several weeks later, the Douglas Cup was missing from its place in a glass case at the Oklahoma A&M chemistry lab. Suspecting that OU students had stolen the Cup, a group of A&M students retrieved the Cup from Norman, supposedly burying it under Old Central for safekeeping.
Ten years later, when excavation was being done for A&M's Gundersen Hall [where I actually had classes a few years ago], the trophy was found. Today it resides in OSU's Heritage Hall.
Ever since, the criminals cheaters Sooners have been grouchy about it.
Game starts in just a few minutes. Stick around to see me taunt the Normanite commenters or start arbitrarily banning them when the Cowboys start to lose!
Original Post:
I guess Dave's not around. Some games have already started today, but there's only one I care about:

I can't even describe to you how awesome things are in Stillwater right now. Fortunately, they are televising the game out here in California, now that the outcome is important for OU's fate. The game starts at 7pm CST.

Damn but we have good teams in the South Division of the Big 12 this year. I hope it comes down to a few good plays at the end to win and that neither team gets stupid ref calls. HAPPY FOOTBALL !

Normally, I'd pick OU.
But I've seen times when OU was AWESOME and |OSU's record was really crappy, but OSU give OU all it could take [and sometimes win] becasuse of the pschyology associated with the rivalry.
And OSU is better this year than its historical average.
It's either going to be an OU blowout, or it'll be really tight, and a toss up at the end.
I look for the close one tonight.
And my Huskers did a nice little Buffalo dance yesterday.
That was a heck of a kick.

Who would have thought BCS #22 Georgia Tech would've beat BCS #11 Georgia in this year's edition of Clean, Old Fashioned Hate?
The Border War provided us with another stunning upset as unranked Kansas beat BCS 13 Missou at Arrowhead Stadium (in the most exciting game that venue will host this year) by a field goal, 40-37.
Prediction for The Bedlam Game: The BCS #12 Cowboys shock the world, and The BCS #3 Sooners in Stillwater tonight in front of what should be a huge national audience.
Prediction for The Civil War: BCS #23 Oregon wins at home against BCS #17 Oregon State.
Neither of those prediction come from "Upset Fever" either. I had OK. State winning this game from the start of the season. Oregon...just a hunch.

The first half featured the Texas Tech team from the OU game - Baylor 21 - Tech 14. The second half was the Tech team from the Texas and OSU games, outscoring Baylor 21-7 and winning 35-28 while letting the clock run out to end the game with the ball on Baylor's 4 yard line. Man it was cooooold.
And yes, Griffin also reminds me of Vince Young, who caused Texas Tech major problems with the that zone read option. Baylor has steadily improved, but we should have beaten them by another score or two. I think it took the first half for the fans and the team to shake off the OU butt whuppin'.

An OU fan, NU fan and a Texas fan are walking on the beach and find a lamp with a genie inside.
The genie says, "I've got three wishes to give, so each of you gets one wish. You go first, Tex."
Tex says, "I don't anyone to foul my beautiful Texas. Build a wall twenty feet high to keep everyone who is not a Texan out."
The genie says, "Done."
The Sooner says, "Say, that there is a good idear, do that to Oklahoma, too."
The genie says, "Done. How about you, Bugeater?"
The Husker fan says, "So, let me get this straight. You've just built a 20 foot wall around both Texas and Oklahoma?"
The genie says, "Yup."
"Fill them with water."

Isn't there something really important on TV tonight? Maybe a very special episode of Blossom or something? No wait, it can't be that, Ace is around and blogging. If Blossom were on TV Land that's where he'd be. Still, there must be something else on...a nice cooking show or something.

OU used to have a mascot Little Red, he was always a full blood Oklahoma Indian who wore white buckskins and a full headress and he would do a war dance on the sidelines everytime OU made a touchdown. Then in the early 70's 'those who know better' decided it was demeaning to Idians to let them celebrate their part of the Oklahoma heritage that way.
Now we just have to settle for a quarterback who is part Indian and has us ahead at half time.

#39,
You were right about Oregon beating OSU, 65-38 (most points scored against OSU *EVER*), but it was a road victory -- the game was in Corvallis.
As for the U of O being full of hippies, yeah, but they all hate the football program -- despite the fact that it brings in money for the school, and takes NOTHING from the general fund. So by rooting for their football team, you're actually thumbing your noses at the school's libs.

How weird is the operation of the human mind that I have a craving for something I've never tasted, only seen photo of.
Guess that's half of all advertising, really.
They must be good...exerting a 600 mile pull.

Tell you what, though, if there are going to be morons going to a game in my hometown, I might just have to make the trip back. Doable, with enough lead-time.

As you probably know, Husker fans travel well. So we could definitely round up a few conservative Huskers, and make the trip.

Dave in Homotexas is in a tizzy right now. Guess we'll see how the BCS computers play it out on Sunday.

As for OSU, I know you think of us (OU) as your biggest rival, but we consider you mostly to be an annoying pest. Like an awkward little brother that always wants to tag along, but always gets in the way, falls into the creek or whatever, and then we have to take you back home and explain to Mom that we'd tried to leave you behind, but you just wouldn't stay put back at the house, intent on playing with your Spirograph and Lite Brite.
You see, we have bigger things on our plate, such as that asshole Texas guy who lives a block over and is always challenging us to a fight. Complete white trash that family is. And then there's the Nebraska guy who lives on the corner. We used to fight him a lot, but we've mostly learned to get along. Still, we occassionally scrap for old times sake.
And then there's that punk Miami, who occasionally wanders into the neighborhood, looking for trouble. Word has it, he has some gang affiliations. He used to be a badass, but he's not so much a threat these days.
Does that clear things up for you? Otherwise, I see endless wedgies in your future. Now run along and play kiddo...

188 OU: With over 100 years of experiance cheating no wonder we are good!
Wow. A football concern troll. Well played sir...well played. I humbly bask in your reflected glory. Will you be following up that brilliant comment with any more stunning analysis of all things footballish?

@88: That's roughly like Italy still claiming to be a military power based on shit that the Romans accomplished. Nebraska is a solid high school team, but until they can regualrly beat Troy, they're a joke.
Still, when all is said and done, I hope to see the Huskers back in the top 10. It just seems like home for them.

When I have my seal cegel, you feel it is not the point, but there is a lot of emotional feeling cross, complex and exciting. When you have more sealonline cegel, you can own the entire world. Once you have seal online cegel, you can do more! Quickly go alone in unfamiliar streets, there is no concern and warmth look of sympathy, just silently listening to headphones, different styles of music, his eyes drift without purpose, I do not know whether to find his own corner. Although we have cheap seal cegel, At least I can have my own things, rather than wishful thinking. When you buy seal online cegel, you can make a choice if you had been ready for it!
