Actually that sounds like one big group but whatever.
Zogby scares me because he's either right or just making shit up and you never know which. But hey 80 something hours out from Election Day, let's take it.
Here's a link to Gabe's post from earlier today about how you can help GOTV from home.
Let's drag McCain's ass over the finish line.
I have to admit I voted absentee yesterday. I swallowed hard and did something I never thought I would...I voted for John McCain. I felt very dirty and not the good kind but it had to be done.

Honestly I don't trust the polls this year at all. None of them. And, since the BO supporters are way too calm. Insisting that he WILL WIN NO MATTER WHAT, people are starting to believe them. Someone in the food store today told me that they "weren't going to bother to vote because the BO supporters she knows have convinced her that they will win in any way possible" She shut me down by saying "under those circumstances, my vote won't matter." I persisted and she finally said "well you know there are going to be problems with the voting and this time it will be the democrats getting their due." I figured I'd relay the conversation because it so frustrated me to speak with this woman today.

However, after having said that, this poll, right or wrong, is a great and good thing, because it crashes directly into the middle of the Obama coronation parade. It smashes up his whole "inevitability" argument and gives his opponents a reason to pour it on over the next four days.
Also, most of us who are supporting McCain are emotionally prepared for defeat, even as we soldier on, but the people over at Kos, aren't prepared.
Emotionally unstable at the best of times, the lefty blogs are about to go apeshit. Should be fun to take a look over there sometime tomorrow.

I was just looking over the polls for the last few days of the 04 election, and most seemed to be at least in the same neighborhood. This year not so much, when you've got everything from this one poll showing McCain up 1 and CBS/NYT showing Obama up eleven. Ten points of deviation is just crazy.

1. I think Drudge did know something earlier this week. He called out the entire fucking media.
2. I think Drudge is irked by that story in the Financial Times that predicted the end of his influence in pushing news. I wouldn't want to be the campaign on the other side of Drudge in the waning days of a campaign.
3. The key is closing the polls enough to change the nonsense media narrative that has been driven by unreliable and unrealistic polls. Yes, Obama probably is and has been leading, but the ridiculous "inevitability" and "preparing the transition" stuff is way over the top. The McCain campaign needs to break through that to avoid any and all lack of enthusiasm - it needs those luke warm voters to know that they matter.
4. We need more than this one-day Zogby sample, but if this forces the pollsters to reconsider their ridiculous party ID disparity, then it's good news. No one wants to be the pollster that predicted a seven point Obama which turns into a three point Obama loss.

I would not be surprised if some of this is pushback about the Infomercial
1) people are sick of the one sided view. The MSM has been running its own informercial 24/7
2) Competition is needed to generate interest. see above
3) Unintended Consequences: I mentioned last night that I saw a Yahoo note that people started really searching about Obama's family online. This was because of the family appeal during it. Given there is little info in the MSM, that meant they were surfing the web with keywords that also hit conservative websites. Which means more of the truth got to the voters.
4) the infomercial was poor quality, alot of doom and gloom (25 minutes) and 5 minutes of solution. bad mix for informercials .... imagine 25 minutes of fat flabby abs, and 5 minutes at the end with the excercise machine. No sale, and mostly the only ones to really watch have already made thier mind up. Maybe a few of the dissapointed did #3
Now add to this a McCain SNL appearance .. McCain can be pretty funny, any Republican appearance boosts SNL ratings, and that might get him another point in the polls.
I predict McCain up by +3 on Monday night

Zogby is just trying to salvage his credibility, and become the top pollster moving forward. CBS/NYT is printing Axelrodturfer numbers to try to get their Lord and Savior (for their industry, there could be some truth in that) into the Oval Office.

That one group Dick Morris has been promoting either has spent, or will spend another 6 million on Wright ads in battleground states. I don't know exactly when they kicked into gear, or when they will take full effect, but this coupled with all of the other issues brought up by McCain and Palin that are supposidly irrelevant, may just be working despite what the media has been saying. Imagine that. I think Dick was saying earlier that this group will spend more on the one Wright ad than the entire McCain campaign. There are a goodly sum (not all blacks) that will vote for Obambi simply because he is black. There are also a goodly sum that will vote against him simply because he is black. There are still (unfortunately) a fairly large part of the population that is racist. That is what is shocking me about the polls, especially this one. Most of the racists that I know fit into the older generation. I know some older dyed in the wool Democrats that have voted for every Democratic candidate ever since they started voting and they are not going to vote for Obambi.
I also happen to experience some of this racism first hand because my girlfriend is black. I've lived in Indianapolis, Toledo, Cincinatti, Raleigh, and now KC and there are areas in all of those cities that are very racially divided.
It is sad to say, but I do think that race will factor into this election.

umm Ace, with all due respect. Mac seems to be dragging YOU and other conservatives across the finish line. Doing it HIS way. Without character assasination.I believe Zogby.
Zogby said a month ago that if Obama was not up by 6-7 points it could be a landslide for McCain.
I also would trust the poll, i think it has been mac ahead for a week at least. The polls do not matter at this point anyhow.
We got this.

Meanwhile, Sarah Palin went trick or treating in a nice town and was accompanied by the mayor of the town and it appears they took one picture and let her have her privacy. With him it looked like the media might have been slightly curious as to whose house he was heading to.

I'm a fiscal/FP conservative, but I agree with you in principle. The reason why it's way down my list is that the abortion issue shouldn't be a federal issue at all (what with Roe v. Wade being judicial activism at its worst.).
But I don't need an abortion litmus test for justices. A statement about their beliefs on what they think the second amendment means is enough. Right to own guns = constitutional; Right to abortion = not.

It looks like you will see the next two years with a super-majority of Democrats in Congress, and a Democratic President. It will probably be so bad that we have huge growth in employment, gdp and an increase in membership in the middle class as almost always seems to happen when Democrats run things.

Fellow morons, fellow PUMAs, fellow Americans...
Our country may one day fall. But it is not this day.
Freedom may one day be overrun. But it is not this day.
Our time may pass- BUT IT IS NOT THIS DAY!
We stand today as one to prevent our country from going over the precipice. It won't be over if we win the day Tuesday, but it will be one major step away from the cliff. The work only begins then- BUT WE MUST COMPLETE THE TASK AT HAND!
Make the call. Knock on the door. Spread the truth- and spread your freedom! Make your voice heard- whether you're a fan of John McCain or not, now is not our moment to throw a tantrum- now is our moment to deflect our country away from the path of socialism. Now is the moment to defend our freedom- do it!!!

He could well be right -- but given that the last Zogby release, maybe two days ago, had Obama up by 7 points or so...
There's a reason Zogby isn't included in the RCP average.
Zogby is in it for the headlines, always. And this is a big headline --- and lets him claim next time around that he was the first one to publish McCain's "big comeback."

well, DrewM, is it a time to crow about dragging Mac? The guy running against a machine never assembled in politics??
And on a great note, the Rev. Wright ads have begune running. I have watched that ad once every commercial break on CBS for 2 hours.
It is in heavy rotation!!!
Lets just all drag each other over the finish line!! It was no harm meant in my comment. I just think poeple expect more from McCain and his campaign than is possible. When you look at the odds against him on so many levels. More than any candidate. In my mind i think he has run a couragous campaign and once aggain lead by example. He is going to prove you can run a respectful campaign.
Now, i do not think talking about Obama's life and friends is disrespectful. However, i think it would have seriously backfired and he would have been tarred and feathered. Not to mention to attack on the character issues thoroughly he would have had to leave out some things americans care alot more about.
If he wins i think the naysayers really should rethink the whole idea he has not run hard.
If he loses then there is not much to support me but the margin.
We will win though.

Street is his own man, but Fast Eddy knows where the dead bodies (votes) are buried.
just wait for it, PA is going to be won on the margins and everyones going to wonder where those eight thousand or so votes out Philly came from.

Zogby's current composite number doesn't include Friday's numbers, which won't be included until Saturday, when Zogby will be showing a four point Obama lead.
I'm not too excited about this simply because it's just one day, and an 8 point swing overnight would be VERY hard to explain. Thursday's daily number was Obama +7. As the FiveThirtyEight site says, such a huge swing would usually have to be connected to a news event.
Thursday's main election news event was Obama's infomercial. Did the public recoil in horror from the infomercial? Is that possible? I have no idea.
This is good news because it's actually the MOST current polling data from any polling outfit. But like I said, I'm not getting excited about this unless it's replicated for a second day, at which time it would need to be reproduced in other polls as well.

Not difficult to explain at all. First of all, the top thing on your average working American's mind isn't that the election is on Tuesday. However, we've suddenly come into the realization that this is the last weekend. Polls usually tighten up right before the election.
Second of all, Frank Luntz did a study group on Obama's infomercial. 24 undecided voters went in, 9 went out. 8 of the undecideds went to Obama due to the commercial. 7 went to McCain because of it. It did almost as much harm as good.

pretty good considering luntz's focus groups seem to always mysteriously have obama winning, my proof the guy's full of crap? some woman called into a local radio show down here in tampa revealing luntz basically thinks obama has this all warpped up and "undicideds" he chooses already come in knowing who theyre most likely gonna vote for and that luntz will not allow any talk of a possible mccain win w/ the focus group

That depends on the 3:00am Nov 3 phone call from Hillary. If Obama pays the 20 million to hillary she calls rendall and tells him to GOTV. If he doesn't pay Rendall gets the phone call that says let the voters decide.
Gov Rendall and PA is Hillary's ace in the hole. It is worth $20 million to her. It is already set up. Rendall leaked the memo saying he was worried, a couple stories about BHO not paying the walking around money in Philly. etc. Rendall has set it up so that He did everything he could. etc
Pa is Hillary's to win or lose which way will she go?

The funniest Luntz focus group was after the 1st debate, he asked a lady why she thought Obama won and she said "because he didn't stutter". Of course, he had stuttered all night along with his usual "uhs" and "ums". The look on her face was priceless because it was obvious she didn't believe her own bullshit.
yes! i mean luntz has been crowing about how mccain stand no chance and yet claims that no leftists can infiltarate his focus groups; the guy has been exposed as a joke, remember when fred and huckabee won all those primary debates but lost primary state after primary state to McCain?

I'm going to go out on a limb here and say they were closer to the GOP way of thinking. 'conservative' and 'liberal' only make sense if you're honest. And the democrat populism isn't really all that liberal. Believing in the equal rights of all people... to own guns, to criticize Obama, to be free of ridiculous taxation and regulation... all that is classical liberalism, and it's not conservative in any way shape or form, except that it's called that. It would be a huge change for progress if all the so called 'conservative' polcies came to effect, but it's called conservative by marxists in ivory towers to diminish the reformist attitude of the movement.
We're the good guys.

Drudge links Zogby's page
"Is McCain making a move? The three-day average holds steady, but McCain outpolled Obama today, 48% to 47%. He is beginning to cut into Obama's lead among independents, is now leading among blue collar voters, has strengthened his lead among investors and among men, and is walloping Obama among NASCAR voters. Joe the Plumber may get his license after all. "Obama's lead among women declined, and it looks like it is occurring because McCain is solidifying the support of conservative women, which is something we saw last time McCain picked up in the polls. If McCain has a good day tomorrow, we will eliminate Obama's good day three days ago, and we could really see some tightening in this rolling average. But for now, hold on."

I think Rush is right, there really is a 10 point anomaly that favors Obama. If you factor in a 10 point handicap, the race actually looks very, very similar to the results in 2004. Out of curiosity I chcked the New Hampshire primary polls and it had Obama winning by 7 percent. Hillary ended up winning by 3, a ten point difference from the poll.
We can win this, but we have to vote, encourage others to vote, and PRAY. Pray like you've never, ever prayed before.

Think of it like this -- McCain can be worked on. He'll listen somewhat, to what his constituents want.
Obama is going to listen to the elitist boobs who we know are in his associations, and to the various interests who've bought and paid for his ears.
You, me, the only way we'd get him to listen is, after having disabled the bodyguards, the mob we were in were headed off to the tar and feathers....

If it were, if I really felt that this country were sliding down a well-greased chute to oblivion, I'd hand Barack the Acme package with the anvil in it and hop on a plane to Australia or Belize or somewhere further down the alphabet, unhappy and angry but resigned.
But we're not there. After a couple years of Obama, maybe. But not now. And $2 gas (and lower energy costs overall) will do a lot to fix the economy all by itself.
Four years of McCain is a good opportunity to start to clean things up. Yeah, we'll have to fight to get half a loaf on immigration, on energy policy, and to get carbon taxes stiff-armed down the road a few years until the square wheels finally fall off the global-warming bandwagon. McCain's long been anathematic to us little-plane pilots for his user-fee stance, but the other guy's no better. And on the courts, on fiscal restraint, on most of the foreign-relations issues where Bush has been inept and Obama looks like a tanned Carter McCain is about as solid as they get.
So, fingers crossed, because the future depends on a reasonably successful McCain term.

Topsecretk9: If you're going to dump on the Gallup poll of first time voters, it might actually help if you read it first.

If you're going to troll, it might help if you actually present an argument.
Fucking cock sucking douche.

#401: McCain winning in NJ and within the margin of error in CA? I'd love to believe it...
Interesting idea that some Dems would switch to McC because they think BO is cheating.

Election Night, Grant Park, 2008, 1968 - There is some significance to having it in Grant Park beyond the mere fact that Chicago is where Obama's home is.

I cannot belive that not a single ball/brest has been dipped in this goodness until my piggy own! The Obama Inevitibility meme has been broken. As Zombie outlines in his/her masterwork The Left's Big Blunder, the moment someone exposes the lie, it loses it's strength.
It's no longer "Obama can probably win" but "Obama can probably lose".
No get out and vote you cocksuckers!
Oh, and
BALLS=DIPPED

I have to admit I voted absentee yesterday. I swallowed hard and did something I never thought I would...I voted for John McCain. I felt very dirty and not the good kind but it had to be done.
No offense Drew but it's this kind of talk that has dragged our ticket down. I have said that from the beginning. I am very conservative and I get it but we are running against the frickin anti Christ and need to stop bitching about our candidiate and do everything we can to win. Trashing McCain all these months has only helped that prick Obama.
I realize the damage is done now but cant help saying this again. I wonder how much further we ahead we would be had we thought about the damage our words do. We should have done EVERYTHING in our power to stop this evil socialist from gaining power which includes contantly tearing down our guy and demotivating people.

And McCain's years of trashing his base has helped exactly how?
I'm with you, Drew. I can't wait until this "strange bedfellows" shit is over with and we can start talking and acting like conservatives again.

I am not justifying McCain's mistakes. It's just that He is Jesus Christ compared to Obama . We just need to use our heads and realize how terribly bad it will be for us should Obama prevail. I do not believe America will ever be the same once Obama is done with this country. Think about Supreme court judges alone. It just doesn't help to constantly tear our man down. We can all sit and bitch till we have a perfect candidate but just how will that help?
My God think of the consequences.
If you don't see that nothing I can say will make you understand.

I am even making phone calls to get people to vote for him.
The point is that it took an Obama to get many of us to vote for McCain. I am working against Obama, NOT for John McCain.
And President McCain better leave the squishy RINO act behind permanently , if he wants a) to survive this turbulent time in US history and b) continued support from conservatives. We will have plenty of Dems to pull our government left.
No Eeyore crap, just keepin it real.

It will probably be so bad that we have huge growth in employment, gdp and an increase in membership in the middle class as almost always seems to happen when Democrats run things.
Like under FDR, who gave us the Great Depression. Like under LBJ. Like under Carter.
Like in modern-day Philadelphia. Or New Orleans. Or Baltimore. Or East St. Louis. Or Detroit. Or Cleveland. Or D.C. Or any of the other fourth-world urban shitholes that dot the American landscape.
Keep delusion alive!
